Sorry, but found some posting like that on a forum which is regulated by AUP rules and actually uses critic, intelligent and diverse points of view makes some people look a bit out of place.

Unlike youtube's comment box, this is a place where intelligent discussion take place,is not a ranting space and is not a place made to start racial "fights",this is a very delicate topic and you just making fun of it,something that will make mods a bit angry in my opinion,in any case watch your words, this is not a you tube reply box.

Oh, now it is a delicate topic, hahaha, when Mexicans said that was not correct we had to accept it as humor!!!

Do the same guys!!!!!!!! hahaha

And here I thought you claimed that it wasn't in your culture to make such remarks....

What I find funny though about that rant is the lack of thought. All it is, is making fun of Brits' appearances & how they should brush their teeth or take baths. Is that really all your country can come up with? Dane Cook could come up with better jokes than that.

Aww! Although the banning was inevitable I was hoping we could keep him a little longer. It really was quite amusing!

*off to read banned user log*

HA!

Back on topic, having already seen the Aussie stuff, the only part of that episode I enjoyed was the GTO's (not so much the new one). The 308 GTO is one of my favourite cars, so I wish they had spent a little longer on it.

Well I was lucky enough to see the recording of next weeks Top Gear last night, they've apologised and have done a piece on the real Mexico.

They've been doing lines off the bonnet of the new Aston Martin One-77. Then proceeded to shoot each other after trying to sell on each others patch.

RIP May, Clarkson and Hammond.

 You know now that you done this, our banned Mexican friend will probably have to make a new account just to have a go at you now.

On the subject of Top Gear, it does seem to me that Clarkson is saying more and more things each week that could be offensive, it's almost as if he is daring the BBC to sack him.

That episode has to be one of the lowest points the series has sunk to in reicient times. The first one was really enjoyable and then to see the second the polar opposite was very surprising.

Its was damn right disgusting the amount of racism which was in that episode. Seeing as its a pseudo family show and on the BBC and can see the complaints flooding in aplenty.

You can see the show is now just clinging to cheap jokes and immature behavior. The AUS team thing could have been so much better if they had actually done it properly. Instead it sucked so badly and from the moment they arrived in a prison van I could see where this was going. Then there was the whole totally uncalled for attack on Mexicans! I thought it was pretty cool to see a Mexican sports car but they had to go and ruin it.

Often racism is seen in this country as 'harmless banter'... In my opinion if a negative comment is made to do with race your being racist, period. Its like with the whole Shilpa Shetty, Big Brother thing, that was full blown racism but people and some of the media tried to play if off as being 'a bit of fun'.

That goes to show the ignorant groups of people that Top Gear seems to now be trying to appeal to. The bar just keeps getting lower and lower and its a pity because the Ferrari GTO and Boris Becker bits where good.

Robin.

No, it has no relation to the Shilpa Shetty scenario. That was a group of people bullying someone else because of their skin colour, not three presenters on a TV show making jibes towards a nation based on the various stereotypes of that country, which are used elsewhere and aren't taken at all serious, because they thought it might be funny. If that's a genuine issue of racism (though Mexican's aren't a race), then so is Welsh sheep jokes, Australian convict jokes, Italian can't build anything without it failing apart jokes, etc.

I genuinely wonder how people cope in the real world if they found those Mexican jibes offensive.

It's people looking to find an issue that isn't there.

Edit: Also, apologies to the mods for being extremely racist in my last post. Hopefully they won't report me to OfGTP.

I found it slightly tasteless. I could see the humour in it, definately. I believe some people found it more offensive because of the stretching of the stereotypes to the breaking point part that seemed to have gotten some people totally confused to the presenters actually believing in it.

Which I assume they actually don't and just used it for entertainment and humour sense. It wasn't quite to the same high standard of subtle jibes that they were more known for. This is what I think has made people sit up this time and notice it because it was really obvious what they were meaning and the way they worded it left it no doubt whatsoever. However, having said that, once they finished that little bit and talked a bit about the car itself, it was all back to normal and you were led to believe it was just an act and something that was scripted to give it a bit of a humourous slant.

Which, in this case, may have slightly blown up in their face.

I wonder what the next week's episode is about?

I wonder what the next week's episode is about?

There is some brief information concerning next Sundays episode on the "Top Gear Episode List" on Wikipedia. It's strange that there isn't any information about it on the Top Gear website.

Though he was pretty quiet during the Mexican bashing, it was mostly Hammond and May doing the jokes.

To be honest I only laughed when they said the car was called Tortilla, the rest I couldn't relate to.

No, it has no relation to the Shilpa Shetty scenario.

I wasn't comparing this event to the Shipa Sheety incident, I was using it as an example of the acceptableness of such comments and behavior in this country and the ignorance some groups of people have to the harm they cause by saying things which they deem to not be a big deal. Racism in racism whether its about skin colour or cultural stereotypes.

Robin.

I'd hardly say the Shipa Shetty incident was accepted or not deemed to be a big deal, I'd say the exact opposite is true.

A Mexican who saw the BBC's Top Gear programme on Sunday, in which her compatriots were described as "lazy, feckless, flatulent [and] overweight", has instructed lawyers to bring a test case against the show under a new equality law.

Lawyers for Iris de la Torre, a 30-year-old jewellery design student in London, accused the BBC of using racism to boost ratings and said the case could cost the corporation up to £1m in damages. They demanded an investigation by the BBC and suspension of the show.

The BBC has already received an official complaint from the Mexican ambassador, who demanded an apology for the broadcast's "xenophobic" and "offensive" content.

The remark was made by the presenter Richard Hammond, while his co-presenters, Jeremy Clarkson and James May, described Mexican food as "refried sick."

De la Torre's lawyers previously brought legal action against Channel 4 for remarks made about the Indian actor Shilpa Shetty in the reality show Celebrity Big Brother.

In a legal complaint seen by the Guardian and sent as a letter to the BBC, they claim that the remarks made on Top Gear are unlawful and a breach of the rules banning discrimination by public bodies.

"I was shocked at what the BBC allowed to be broadcast," De la Torre said. "I have never had a bad experience in the UK due to my nationality. I do not understand how such ignorant people hold such high-profile jobs."

The complaint could become the first case brought under the Equality Act, which came into force last September. Under the law, anyone providing a "service to the public" is prohibited from anything that constitutes discrimination.

Writing to the BBC is the first stage of bringing a case; the next would be making an application to a county court.

"These remarks were probably calculated and deliberate to fuel anger and hence boost ratings – the presenters apparently feel that they are fighting a battle against political correctness," said Lawrence Davies of De la Torre's solicitors, Equal Justice.

"However they are not permitted to use unlawful means to do so and broadcast their racist thoughts. A broadcast is a service and it is unlawful to produce racist services."

The BBC said it had not yet received the letter, but that it would be dealt with through the appropriate channels.

The controversy is the latest in a series of TV scandals involving offensive behaviour by presenters. Last month Sky Sports presenters Richard Keys and Andy Gray lost their jobs after sexist off-air remarks were leaked.

Top Gear presenter Clarkson, who has been repeatedly criticised for making offensive comments, had condemned Sky for the decision, describing it as "heresy by thought".

De la Torre's lawyers previously brought legal action against...

... Arsenal football club, following supporters' chants of "Yid" directed at Tottenham Hotspur fans (who refer to themselves as "The Yid Army"...)

What happened to people being able to take a joke? This world has far too many high-horsed straight laced easily offended dummy-out-of-the-pram-throwers for my liking.

This country going bananas.
Only today I heard that Britain is a safe haven for terrorists.
Anyone who is in danger of there lives by being deported home has a right to stay under human rights laws.
Even if considered a major threat.

I found this a bit confusing TBH.

I mean if there own country doesn't want them. What are they fighting for.

It's possible, even though it is illegal under UK law, that individuals who are seen as a major threat by British Intelligence would be assassinated, if they made a judgement that those individuals couldn't be removed from causing harm using a legal process. National security is beyond the law, what needs to be done is done, which is why we have Nuclear weapons in the UK which is actually technically illegal for us to have them.
There is Diplomacy and international regulations, and there is also a covert bullet to the head.

All the buzz down here in Mexico is that as always the media only show half the truth of how things are most people don´t know top gear so in the news they only showed what they said so everybody thought they had something against Mexico but they don´t know that every episode top gear make jokes about any random country.
I personally lol´ed when I heard the car was named the tortilla and liked the episode a lot but a lot of people here got really angry which I don´t understand when people in Mexico sometimes make really cruel jokes about other nations or delicate things besides I don´t think that even the 25% of the population knew the mastreta mxt so it also served as a little free marketing for the car.

Oh for day when we finally make Alien contact, then the whole world can unite so we can take the pee out of the way they look and their crappy shiny spaceships that we wouldn't have even of they were free. And they smell.

So in a show that was focussed on having a laugh at/with the Australians, one sentence has caused enormous outrage. I haven't heard any Australians demanding an apology over them being stereotyped as BBQ obssessed convict decendents. Could it just be that maybe Australians have a sense of humour? Heading down this path it won't be long before all jokes are outlawed because they might offend someone, somewhere. Absolutely ridiculous. If a Brit has a laugh at your expense, just do the same back. They'll probably laugh with you!

Is Top Gear even shown in Mexico or do they have to watch it via "other means" like we do in the states?

It is on BBC entertainment channel but that one is like one season late but I use other means to watch it on the same day it comes out on the U.K. But it's not like a lot of people knows it , but the segment was featured on a stupid tv show here on Mexico and everybody went crazy on facebook and twitter.

I want to see the American Top Gear vs. UK Top Gear. Sure, Clarkson and his team would cheat...but so would Tanner Foust and his team. I can just see Stig vs. Stig in the final challenge.

Top-Gear-presenters-from--007.jpg

The BBC has apologised to the Mexican ambassador over remarks on the motoring show Top Gear but also defended the show's presenters, who branded Mexicans "lazy", "feckless" and "flatulent", saying national-stereotyping was part of British humour.

Eduardo Medina-Mora Icaza wrote to the BBC to complain about what he called the "outrageous, vulgar and inexcusable insults" made on the programme.

The BBC said it had written to the ambassador to say it was sorry if the programme caused offence.

In a statement, the corporation said the comments on the show may have been "rude" and "mischievous", but there was no "vindictiveness" behind them.

"Our own comedians make jokes about the British being terrible cooks and terrible romantics, and we in turn make jokes about the Italians being disorganised and overdramatic, the French being arrogant and the Germans being overorganised," it said.

"Whilst it may appear offensive to those who have not watched the programme or who are unfamiliar with its humour, the executive producer has made it clear to the ambassador that that was absolutely not the show's intention."

The BBC said stereotype-based comedy was allowed within its guidelines in programmes during which the audience knew it could be expected.

The executive producer of Top Gear also apologised to the ambassador personally for remarks made about him.

In the episode, broadcast on 30 January, presenter Richard Hammond joked that Mexican cars reflected national characteristics, saying they were "just going to be lazy, feckless, flatulent, overweight, leaning against a fence asleep looking at a cactus with a blanket with a hole in the middle on as a coat".

James May described Mexican food as "like sick with cheese on it" and Jeremy Clarkson predicted they would not get any complaints about the show because "at the Mexican embassy, the ambassador is going to be sitting there with a remote control like this (snores). They won't complain, it's fine".

In his letter to the BBC, the ambassador wrote: "The presenters of the programme resorted to outrageous, vulgar and inexcusable insults to stir bigoted feelings against the Mexican people, their culture as well as their official representative in the United Kingdom.

"These offensive, xenophobic and humiliating remarks only serve to reinforce negative stereotypes and perpetuate prejudice against Mexico and its people."

The ambassador demanded the show's hosts make a public apology and it remains to be seen if the BBC's response to his complaints have gone far enough. Hundreds of Mexicans contacted the BBC to protest against the remarks, which caused national outrage.

A cross-party group of six MPs urged the BBC to apologise as "a matter of urgency", saying "this level of ignorance is far below anything expected from anyone in the public eye and illustrates a serious lack of judgment by the programme-makers".

It is not the first time Top Gear, with its blend of motoring news, schoolboy humour and audacious stunts, has got into trouble. In 2008, the show was rapped by the BBC Trust for showing Clarkson and May sipping gin and tonic at the wheel during a stunt.

Hundreds of viewers also complained after Clarkson made a joke about lorry drivers murdering prostitutes.

Out of the millions that watch Top Gear, hundreds complained? Hundreds.

Shift gear, shift gear... That's just good stuff.

oh damn, how have I missed this? I went back the 6 or so pages that had all the stuff about the Mexico affair... fun times.

Fact is, I haven't even watched the entire episode, I have just watched the Mexico-bashing segment. I can understand all the grief and all the uprage that Mexicans have taken because moooooooooooooooooooost mexicans have NEVER EVER heard about Top Gear until all this blew wide open. People do not know they joke about basically enything in basically every episode, and all that.

And they are right, the people. From what I've read here, I'm not the only one who thinks that this is getting pretty out of hand for the TG crew. And I don't mean it because I'm mexican and I'm gonna start crying about our culture and all that. I can tell all of you that there is also constant racial jokes in mexican TV and in our culture in general, so I'm not gonna go that route because it is absolutely impossible to deffend. I mean it in lieu of the show.

I remember when Top Gear was actually intresting to watch, heck, there was a time when you could even (risks attached) take the guys seriously. But recently -about the time when Top Gear took the world by surprise and from one day to the other you could find 6 people registered in forums as "The Stigsomenumber"- Top Gear has been but pure crap. Of course it is still incredibly well produced, and there is the entire cool car thing and stuff, but May, Clarkson and Hammond are really stupid lately. They're just like three clowns in cars now. I can't say I like to watch Top Gear as a result of all this, when I actually liked it very much in the past.

Now, if the people in Mexico wants to start an outrage with torchs and... what are those fork-like things that are used to pick the haye called? Well, those, they can go ahead. I really found the joke normal of the late Top Gear (tasteless, overly agressive, absurd, ignorant, and wayy too much) and as such, took the "joke" as something that I could expect of such a lately even maybe bad show. I found it pretty amusing and actually laughed real hard when they called the Mastretta "Tortilla"... and to think that a lot of people said that they made fun of the car, but I could not see ANYWHERE that they laughed at the car (with the Tortilla exception, which was pretty good actually, it would be awesome if a car was called tortilla) they laughed at mexicans and all that, but you have to take stuff from where it comes.

Problem is, people don't know from where it comes. To the vast majority of mexicans like the banned guy in the previous pages, it is just plain wrong. Heck, to everyone it SHOULD be just plain wrong, including the BBC and even the three hosts, but that is just the way things are.

As for me, I'll maybe keep on watching TG, I don't know. Lately it hasn't even been funny anymore. I may go back to my old downl... er... "alternate means" of older seasons and laugh my ass away, then just see the segments of car testing and maybe a couple of challenges of the newest seasons, but that would be about it.

but really, you wouldn't believe how big this has been in here lately. You wouldn't.
