..... Unless you're a test driver, you're just not gonna notice the difference.

They go bloody fast when you step on the LOUD AND PAINFUL pedal.

They stop INSANELY quickly.

They steer rapidly when you move the disc shaped thing.

Also, paying over 200,000 quid or more for those cars, you're just not gonna compare it to other cars AT ALL. You paid for this car, you brought it and you're just not gonna listen to any comparisons that anyone has against your car and the competition.

+1, couldn't agree more!

No, to what excitement had everyone who drove 458 or another nice balanced RWD to what excitement everyone shows when driving a 4WD. Sure, it is very nice to have the torque distribution to 20-80 or 30-70 but there is no comparison to the agility of RWD cars if setup is right... This is exactly the difference between a 911 GT3RS and 911 Turbo.

And above all, I really like Lambo V12s especially for how they sound, but handling is another matter compared to MRs.

Since that didn't really answer my question, I'm going to take it as a "yes" to this question:

Let me guess, you're basing everything from your experiences of... playing GT5?

Though I'd also add "...and watching Top Gear".

I've seen the E30 mentioned a few times now. There's a chance it may not be a road-worthy car, or even in anything approaching good nick.

I'm more surprised nobody has mentioned them trashing a brand new Jag XFR...

You're probably right about the E30, and to be honest, there are enough out there still that it actually isn't that big of a deal. That part just meant a little more to me, being an E30 driver myself.

Now I wonder if they bought the XFR or if it's on loan from Jaguar. I bet Jaguar won't be too happy about it being trashed if they had loaned it out to Top Gear.

Actually I don't think manufacturers care if their cars are trashed. Having your car on Top Gear provides so much free advertising that I'm sure they're not bothered. Remember the Twingo Clarkson trashed a while back? Same thing there...

And Renault gave Top Gear a new (at the time) Megane to do a crash test with a real person driving. Although Clarkson afterwards saying he had to call Renault and tell them what happened may mean they didn't know, it was before the show became completely scripted like nowadays.

Was Hammond who did that segment. And yes, as far as I'm aware, Renault didn't know they were doing it, but it helped shift a few more Meganes so I doubt they cared.

I've heard rumblings that the Twingo they destroyed was a pre-production car or something, so the XFR could be similar. Still, I don't really like seeing brand new, or cars in very good nick, destroyed.

Does anyone know when the new season comes to BBCAmerica? Series 16 came about this time last year (The day of the Super Bowl) but the series has just started over in England so I presume it'll be a while?

I've been downloading season 17 off iTunes.

Lukewarm. Very lukewarm I thought.

Those Chinese cars were pretty duff; one had the body of a Honda Accord, the other of a Toyota Avensis. And I thought the whole Karate Stig attacking people was very poor.

NASCAR segment wasn't too bad though.

Very good episode IMO. The NASCAR bit was good, the news made me , SIARPC; wasn't really interested, and the Chinese Stig had me in stitches. Better than last week, good work BBC. 👍

Enjoyed tonight's episode, much better than last week. However that ending did scare me a bit. :scared:

Ha, next two comments disagree with me on the episode.

Each to their own, I suppose.

The names of the Chinese cars seemed like they were inspired by massive robots from anime.

I honestly thought it was pretty bad and far worse than last weeks episode.

The NASCAR bit was alright if you didn't know anything about NASCAR it prior to the show, the SLS segment was OK, SIARPC was the highlight for me and was much better than last week.

But the Chinese bit in large just wasn't funny or informative...

The NASCAR bit was alright if you didn't know anything about NASCAR prior to the show, the SLS segment was OK, SIARPC was the highlight for me and was much better than last week pretty weak. Le Blanc looked either bored or nervous. Or both.

But the Chinese bit in large just wasn't funny or informative... and only mildly informative.

Almost exactly how I feel about it.

You're right, but I find it quite depressing how cheap and crude the humour is these days. And it's less informative. They used to do all the stuff they do now, but still manage to be informative and interesting. Bugatti Veyron test being an example.

I don't know, I've watched new Top Gear since episode one back in 2002 and I've watched it blossom, mature, stagnate and now slowly saturate. It's classic product life cycle. The extension strategies are already in force.

I have no idea why Matt was chosen but it was a fantastic episode. 👍

Both episodes have been on par with me at about an 8/10.

Probably to promote Episodes. A SIARPC's appearance almost always coincides with the release of a film or show they're in

Its a good way to spend an hour on a sunday evening but where is the lunacy? Where is the "buy a car for less than £1500 and do a ridiculous challenge" thing? The buy a reliant robin and see how many times you can roll it, build an electric car from scratch and drive it around london?? Basically where is the top gear of old? :(

This is my favourite Top Gear CCC.

The coupes that aren't Porsches. The Jaguar XJS, BMW 635 and Mitsubishi Starion. Awesome.

I was really a big fan of the Supercars CCC (not really cheap, since they had 10 grand, but still) with the Maserati Merak, Ferrari Dino, and Lamborghini Uracco, but I've seen it so many times on Dave now that I just can't stand it anymore. The Porsche one was really funny, but I think my favourite at the moment would be the one in Germany probably, or the original CCC.

The £100 one? Yeah, that was great. Jeremy's early 'villain' character winning in the end with just a quid!

It was great.

He seems to have a thing for buying big Volvos.

"Oh dear, I think I missed the wall!"
The fact that he hit that wall at 40 and it still drove away, when the others' were killed at 30 (albeit Clarkson broke his thumb in the process) is quite impressive I think.

I loved the one where they had to buy a rear wheel drive car, cant remember the price bracket, and they drove them to a snow track doing challenges along the way. Thats was epic
