You seem to be suggesting Top Gear are the innocent party here. I bet you they knew exactly what Pagani did.

Not necessarily. Pagani themselves admitted to using two different tires for the filming. Richard drove the car with the stock street tires, but when they did the fast lap, the car had the modified hand-cut Zonda R slicks. So, if Pagani swapped the tires between when Hammond got out and the Stig got in, then Top Gear might not have known about the switch.

Getting caught though, is part Pagain's fault and Top Gear's fault. A lap time almost 3 seconds faster than the Atom was a tad suspicious, but their cover was blown by Top Gear taking all the incriminating photos.

The Stig is probably a racing driver of some sort, I think he can probably tell when a car is essentially running on slicks and not road tires. And you don't think someone may have checked the car after the lap.

Stig just test cars he doesn't care how a car comes in, he just drives. I'm sure they would have seen slicks on it tho. Everyone there is hard core car people they obviously knew. However pagani is to blame because sending a shifty car like that is clearly trying to be a set up.

It's a guess, but after the choral bit, it sounds like Ludovico Einaudi to me, no idea what the composition is called.

You may be able to find the music answer here.

Indeed it was him, thanks alot guys, beautiful track

Edit:Regarding the Pagani,If they will be using the Tyres used with the rumored track pack then I don't see the problem. From my understanding these Pirellis are Road legal(barely )

I don't think they always do the road test and the Stigs lap on the same day. Quite often it's not even the same car, easily to tell when the car in the road test was blue and the car doing the lap is black but there's a chance the car in the road test was sent back to Pagani and then another car was sent on another date with the slicks on. There's more chance of that than of someone changing the tires after the road test.

That said, the guys at TopGear should have noticed either way but it'll be interesting to see if they mention it on the show.

They weren't. Jalopnik already checked that out and the tires on the Track Pack are NOT the tires used on the show for the lap times. I wouldn't have had a problem with it, either, if that was the case, but it's not. They literally took the racing slicks from the Zonda R and hand-cut grooves in them to make it SEEM like a normal tire, but it's not.

So Top Gear pretty much has three choices: redo the lap with the normal tires, disqualify the Huarya and never redo the lap, or pretend like nothing happened. I actually wouldn't be surprised to see the leaderboard magically without the Huarya's lap on it without them saying a word about it. That would fall under option B.

Most of his stuff sounds pretty similar, it's quite commonly used for this kind of thing on TV, but it's good music in it's own right... check out his albums 'In a Time Lapse', 'Nightbook' and 'Divenire' for more of the same.

Pagani have responded to the story and said that the tyres are included one one of the track packs and are road legal. Apparently.

I've listened to Primavera(obvious one) and another one I can't remember, will listen more absolute genius.

@Supershouden are you sure about that, seem to recall Pagani saying these tires were in fact road legal

I thought it was a decent episode, though they didn't seem to do very much, but I suppose its just setting the scene for next week big race finale thing. I think I much prefer one big special episode, not split in two.

Haha I'm liking this newfangled two-part episode :dopey: builds the suspense. Plus they can fit more stuff in, which is always welcomed :)👍

I've sort of been expecting the second episode to be the better of the two even before the first one aired. But the first one turned out to be rather good, and if next week's can equal or even top it, then I'm willing to wait a few days.

3 mates cocking about on an epic road trip... it's what Top Gear does best. It's not the greatest special so far, but part 2 looks to be better.

Eh, I liked it, it's entertaining, slightly silly, and just a tad interesting. Basically the Top Gear Special formula.

Next week is worth waiting for I think, judging by those cutscenes shown at the end.

Good episode, I love these ones. But it's better when they start off with a set destination, it makes the episode easier to follow. In the beginning of this one they were wandering around not knowing where to go.

It was cool to see Hammond chucking the Impreza around rescuing the other two though. Looking forward to the climax next week, but then that will be the series over! Already!

I'm just wondering, all three of those cars can be had for under 1500 quid in the UK? Seriously? WRX wagon even?

And did anybody else notice, (first time I have), but JC's got a serious pot-belly going, and James isn't far behind.

And yeah, pretty classic so far. Love the Top Gear x National Geographic feel, who knew Kampala had such terrible traffic? And that it supported a thriving stick stuff in your window and you but it industry?

Jeremy has had that for quite some years now. It's what happens when you make tons of money and have nothing else to do anymore than driving cars and drinking beer :P

BMW and Volvo yes and yes.

Subaru maybe. You can definitely get an Impreza of that age for under £1500, but I was surprised when Hammond arrived in the WRX. Again, you can get an older Impreza Turbo for under £1500, but it'll have been ragged every day of its life and be pretty smoky by this point - so I'm surprised TG managed to get a bugeye WRX which doesn't seem in too bad shape (bit of peeling lacquer on the hood was all I could see) for that price.

But, you never know. Maybe it's a lot worse than it looks on TV. It's possible they got it for £1500.

When I saw it was an 850 R, I thought it might have been a little bit more than 1500 quid. More like 2,000 in my opinion. But maybe the age and mileage brought the price down somewhat.

Good episode though, seems more grounded in 'cheap cars, have some fun'.
