Star in a Reasonably Priced Car: James McAvoy

Finally a star I know  (aside from lewis I mean)

That elderly people car thing sounds daft but should be funny ,May's segment sounds promising.

Now all we need is for Alonso to drive the Liana...

I don't see this happening unfortunately.

I have noticed that Alonso doesn't really like informal interviews. If the interview is about F1 fine he will talk all day but other than that he doesn't say that much IIRC.

Hamilton's lap backs that up. Now all we need is for Alonso to drive the Liana...
That backs nothing up. You should very well know these laps mean absolutely nothing.
I'd like to see what vettel could do in a slower car, I think he'd still be very good, But we might not know for a long time :scared:
Vettel had a slower car this past season, and he won the championship. He was, indeed, very good.

Is that just a ploy to get everyone to buy two episodes on iTunes afterwards? I think its a good thing, we should get less cut out than we usually do.

Well the last one from the studio, or with a SIARPC, or car reviews.

Also, with the last few specials pushing 90 minutes in duration, I guess they thought that if they squeezed in more content to fill 2 hours, then they may aswell split it and give us an extra episode. I think it's a good move too, plus it shortens the gap between series 19 and 20 by a single week. :P

What? Naaaw...

The episode started alright, I didn't mind the Range Rover segment in truth ... but then it went downhill. The road test just felt like it was a bunch of cheap laughs. The SIARPC was just promoting McAvoy's new film, the clip was at least a minute long.

Not so happy this week.

I thought it was a good episode. I really like the Range Rover section, James May always seems to make good films when he's by himself. I thought that while the old peoples car was a bit ridiculous, it was still very funny. Weird that I think the opposite to those above...

It's opinion and taste, it's always divisive, that's the nature of personal interpretation.

I did think last weeks episode was quite good, this one, not so much.

The episode started off fine and the highlight was definitely the Land Rover race. That last part ruined it though, especially when they just blew the Rover James apart.

Arguably the low point for this season in my opinion, but not exactly terrible since I enjoyed parts of it. Now I hope the Special can be more watchable than the previous one in India.

Really enjoyed every aspect of tonight's episode, a personal favourite so far.

I wasn't liking this one as much but the army truck that drove itself was amazing, I didn't even know that was possible. The old people car was what really made the ep hilarious to me. Everything the did to it was so funny and than it blew up at the end lol.

Certainly wasn't my favourite episode, nothing really stood out. I don't think I will bother watching this one again in the future.

I don't know what some of you are going on about. It's no TG epic-classic but it was a pretty fine episode! :D It had a good number of classical TG ingredients: A rubbish build, tons of humor, a ridiculous challenge, a hilarious roadtest with an explosion. It made me laugh and made me forgive my problems for an hour: It was pure Top Gear.

Really looking forwards to the upcoming episodes. It sort of makes me wish that all specials were two-episodes long but at the same time I know that after next week's episode I'll have a week of expectation to see how things end up.

Terrible episode.

Liked the hot hatch comparo best, probably.

Seriously though, the handbrake thing, that was the whole news segment? And continued throughout the episode?!? Kept thinking, they're done with this now, right? Nope. And Nope. And Nope.

Cee'd review. Really? Just because it's the new reasonably priced car? I just felt awful watching all of this. I'd love to see some nice consumer review/comparison bits (like the hot hatches in this ep, but for regular and not sporting cars.) And the whole rugby segment was worthless. The previous football/soccer bits were understandable because it was one model vs another, but this was all Kia on both sides. Where's the point?

Yeah, mastrato review was fine. And Hamilton's lap was properly quick, nice to watch. But overall...

Terrible episode.

Agreed completely with everything that you said. That handbrake segment dragged on too long. Since when did TG become a poor Dr. Drew?

The cameos were pretty awesome though.

Yeah I posted later about the cameos being awesome, too.

This week was, well, entirely adequate. Didn't mind one bit sitting through an hour of rather classic if not especially inspired TG madness. I think I was saying a couple weeks back (without knowing what was coming) that I'd like to see a Range Rover review, and this one was great! Climbing strait up that hill was amazing! And though I knew it was coming, couldn't help but giggle when I saw James' photo on the wall with all the old people celebrities. The old ladies were real sports about being hauled about by JC and Hammond. The needle in the eye bit did give me a somewhat somber flashback to his serious injury, though...

Oh, I laughed during the Multipla build. But it's all been done before in previous episodes with superior results in some cases when it came to entertainment value. Granted, it's not the worst they've done, but half of the final segment was boring at times.

Also, one thing they mentioned during the news that I want to see in a future episode is a VW Up! GT test. It'll most likely end up being done in the same format as the Fiesta/Twingo/Cee'd reviews, which is fine by me.

Now that was terrible, what the heck ,Range rover bit was great I'd give them that but the rest ,won't even bother writing about it.

One of the more bland episodes I've seen, enjoyed the rest of the series so far for the most part.

I laughed at the sat nav bit, but to be honest not much else!

So...apparently, Pagani seems to have cheated their way to the top of the leaderboards by slipping on a modified version of the Zonda R's slicks onto the Huarya used by Top Gear. Should be interesting to see what Top Gear has to say on Sunday. But I bet they'll be checking tires from now on. And the Huarya will probably need to have another more legal go at the time.

You seem to be suggesting Top Gear are the innocent party here. I bet you they knew exactly what Pagani did.
