They usually do studio work on Wednesday don't they? so they obviously wont have done any today as two of them are heading to Australia...which means they wont introduce the special on Sunday, they will just show it...

Might have filmed something last week most likely.

So Clarkson tweeted earlier saying that the first part of the special is good but the second part is brilliant..

..and there's a documentary on Banger racing straight after on BBC Two that might be worth a look...

One more regular episode, and the now standard two-part special to round off the season would have been ideal.

It's a shame how they plug small gaps between segments with random content, yet they don't have enough time in a one hour slot to include more car tests and anything more worthwhile. They've wasted enough time on a few occasions this season where they might have been able to squeeze more stuff in. (the retro cheap hot hatches virtually took up a whole episode, and it was dire for the most part).

Even the cycling part was too long, barely any time for Aaron Paul and the 918. There was some serious wastes of time this season

Because they cancelled BBC 3 I hope they divert more money to top gear. I think they are a bit drained on budget.
I'm saying this because more money may mean more episodes.

That money will be pumped into BBC One's drama budget before anything else. So I doubt it'll make any real difference here.

The specials almost certainly take the largest chunk of the budget though. They'll either keep going to more far-flung places on longer journeys which will restrict the season duration (splitting the specials into two parts helps spread it out a bit), or go for something less ambitious in future with a view to increasing episode numbers again.

Still, they can't be as drained as they were 10 years ago.

But its hard to talk to someone whose only in the country to promote Need for Speed. Breaking Bad is new and he's not been in much else, so went through the norm and it wasn't that long.

918 will be back and cycling was funny imo.

The cycling part was funny, totally agree with you, but it was a bit too long.

Then I take other example. Tom Hiddlestone. It was too short and too boring becuse the informative bit of military cars took a lot of time and they had to put a big chunk of P1 in the show, but about that I not even mad about that, at least the military bit was informative. I usually enjoy SIARPC, but this season the only one I enjoyed was Hugh Bonneville.

That episode was excellent. Good mix of sensible comedy, TG comedy and real car/factual stuff. Can't wait for part 2 👍

Hmmm... I'm not so impressed... I was looking forward to it but I thought it was very disappointing... even more so that we have to wait another week to watch the rest of it.

That was what Top Gear of a few seasons back was like! Fantastic and I can't wait for the second part of it next week. I don't know if the actual building of the bridge will be "ambitious but rubbish" or very good like the raft in the Africa special

Usual amounts of Clarkson pissing about early on, but that didn't stop it from being a good first part. There was plenty of informative stuff mixed with genuine mishaps towards the end, and they didn't really ruin their vehicles with those mods, apart from Hammond's oversized stacks. I'm surprised Clarkson's truck ended up looking in better shape than it was before as opposed to a total mess.

I was surprised at the improvements too, bit different the Sounth America trek were they ruined the 4x4s, just like the Nile Adventure, started off well and set up for an unusual episode.

I can see a few more long two parters in the future. Canada could be next? Or Korea as they do get away with alot.

Was a decent episode, hopefully the meat's going to be in next week's finale.

TG need to go to Korea... could drive the de Macross GT1 Epique rolls off the tongue

It was slightly heavy on the 'TG abroad trip formula' were they supposedly sleep in terrible accommodation, stop to do up their vehicles, give a history lesson, get stuck on some silly terrain etc etc. Its almost like they go through a set checklist for trips like these, its the same thing as before but with different cars!

Clarkson's sports truck was cool though, looked good in the Shelby livery  and he always does his interior to look like some minimalist upmarket hotel! He also seems to have surprisingly chosen something sensible this time as opposed to something totally vain and useless. His is probably in the best condition out of the lot.

My favourite is still the Africa one with 'Oliver'!

-> Ugh, I tend to skip the specials from now on...after I watched that African Special from series 19. :indiff:

-> Why can't BBC do like they always did in the past:

- A Christmas Special that is supposed to be completely separated show to the regular programing/episodes.

- Mixing up the Specials like this one and the African version is a complete waste of potentially more good/regular episodes!

:indiff:
