I doubt that was really The Stig. It must have been a proffesional Skidu racer or something.

Yeah i doubt it was the Stig. But then the Stig is really just a symbol of excellence behind the wheel, we all know he's not a single person.

That was a brilliant episode. The 'rocket scientists' got it abit wrong though

"So how are they now?"
"Quite dead".

[EDIT] And all the credits were to people with the dirst name Bjorn

So we're allowed to link to any Free To Air TV programmes then? I was under the impression this was against the rules of the site...

finalgear did get a cease and desist order from the BBC last year. I'm unaware of the outcome of that.

I've removed the posts above, as the grey area is large on that one. I can show you a legit looking site that provides illegal downloads and vice versa.

My only fall back position is completely safe ground. Downloading the videos is one thing. Waching them online is totally different.

Sorry guys.

If your always better safe than sorry you've got a lot less to worry about..

Agreed... I'm still of the opinion that my downloading of the show is completely legal... I have payed for the show, I just missed it... However, there will always be abusers, so I can understand your actions, DA...

Carry on...

They were given the all okay.
I can't see where they were. They were hosting the torrents, and then they were told not to. They only got them back up 'cos they were hosting them off-site. At no point was it mentioned they were now legal.

If it does it's usually on a Tuesday, so check the TV listings for tomorrow. It was a pretty good, fun episode, worth the watch. As for the snowbolie ski-jump, that won't have been the usual Stig, it'll have been a pro ski-mobile racer. I know it's been shown before, but May's face in the rally car, cracked me up, he looked like he could have spontaniously died.

I decided to send an email to the BBC to find out about the legality of downloading programs.

I got a reply today. The highlighted bit was done by me.

Dear David

Thank you for your e-mail regarding internet downloads.

I understand you would like to know if it is illegal to download copies of BBC programmes from the internet.

Unless programmes have been made available online by the BBC it is illegal to download them, due to copyright and contractual agreements.

Thank you for taking the time to contact the BBC.

So, there you have it.

Probably not since the other arn't, they're still non-BBC released videos. Then again your not downloading them, I don't know if that would make a difference legally.

So is Richard Hammond not on Top Gear anymore? I know Clarkson said he had his own show now so has he stopped doing TG?

edit: Well I see him on there now...guess he is still doing it.

He's still on TopGear, JC just said he had a daytime show so he couldn't be there for the TopGear winter olympics, but he managed to turn up for a bit anyway. He's not left TopGear completely, they were just talking about that one episode.

I wasn't even aware they'd started the new series. Or was this just a one-off episode?

As for the whole downloading thing... While it's a gray area for folks in the UK, what about the rest of the world? Downloading it is the only way we can watch the show. Contrary to what the BBC may think, Top Gear DOES have fans outside of the UK. If they'd only release a few DVD series sets over here, they'd see that. :)
