Every so often people forget that Clarkson is an entertainer first, and a journalist second. He says things to get a rise out of people who already hate him anyway, and also to make people who think he's God go onto internet forums and say "but it's true because clarkson said it !!1!!111!" and "lmao" a lot.

However, everything he's ever said about the Vectra is true. So he does occasionally get it right!

...but a doctor for insurance purposes.

Naw, I don't mind it all too much anymore. Clarkson rubs on me sometimes, but that is why I like him so much. He is brutally honest, and that is what I like about him. I don't always agree with his assesment of cars, in particular American ones, but I suppose it doesn't matter.

...As for his jokes about Americans, I think it is quite funny, as we make plenty about British folks here as well. We are for the most part quite stupid, a good number of us rather fat, and indeed inbred in states like West Virginia and Arkansas.

Info on the next Top Gear episode *SPOILERS - DO NOT SCROLL DOWN IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO KNOW!* (from topgear.com)

You know the drill: Sunday night, 8pm, BBC Two. This week, Steve Coogan returns in the reasonably priced car, Jeremy drives a Lambo and all three boys have a go at building a kit car... in eight hours. Here are the full behind-the-scenes details:

People carriers
The show kicks off with people carriers, but that isn't necessarily your cue to switch off. Vauxhall's Zafria, Mercedes' B-class and Ford's new S-Max are all trying to put the fun back into driving - and James and Richard were keen to see whether it's all just marketing waffle. The only way to find out - naturally - is to thrash them round the track, leaving Jeremy to look at the boring practicality stuff back in the studio.

And now the sensible stuff is out of the way...
After all that practical family car stuff, Jeremy needed an antidote - cue the Lamborghini Gallardo. OK, the seats squeak a bit and the steering wheel appears to be covered in a bath mat, but with a 5.0-litre engine belching out 512bhp it certainly goes some.

In the news...
The boys decided that folding metal roofs are a bad idea - especially when people think they have enough time to drop it down at traffic lights, when they clearly don't.

New cars unveiled this week at the British motor show included the Chrysler Sebring and the Land Rover Freelander 2. Talking of Land Rover, Richard has just bought himself a limited edition one in yellow and had a little accident with the touch-up paint pot...

Nissan, meanwhile, has unveiled yet another special version of the Micra C+C, this time designed by Sebastian Conran, when will it end?

And finally, the Top Gear survey is underway and we want your views. Check out our survey page for details on how to take part (and win a year's supply of fuel in the process).

Star in a reasonably priced car...
This week's star in a reasonably priced car is actor and all-round funny man Steve Coogan, who has come back to beat the 1.53 he clocked in the Liana. That, and to beat the time set by buddy Rob Brydon in the Chevrolet Lacetti.

Parkour what?
Nothing to do with dodgy anoraks, this one. It's a French sport which involves lots of running and jumping - and from some pretty spectacular heights (we call it free running). Top Gear thought this would be a good idea for a race - and that James was the bloke to do it (although obviously not the running part). Our Captain Slow jumped in Peugoet's new 207 and is leaving the energetic stuff to two teenagers who know what they're doing.

Caterham chaos...
Even the Stig's tiny brain is tired of constant Top Gear track lapping, so we decided to let him out on public roads. Some said this was a bad idea and that the Stig wouldn't survive outside his usual habitat, but it was such a good excuse to have a race nobody really questioned it.

The Stig set off from Caterham's factory in Surrey and headed for the Knock Hill circuit outside Edinburgh. Meanwhile the lads, who were already at Knock Hill, had 8 hours to build a Caterham kit car from scratch then drive it over the start line before the Stig. Simple, eh?

So that's Top Gear, this Sunday at 8:00pm on BBC2 - don't miss it.

Yeah, that new episode should be funny. Especially the part where Clarkson has to build a Chateram himself.

...I'm interested in the S-Max test, as there has been talk of bringing them to the US...

Radio times has now released info on what is apparently the last episode of this series of top gear. It will be aired on Sunday 30 July.

Radio Times
Motoring magazine presented by Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May. In the last show of the series Jeremy, James and Richard are going out in style, behind the wheels of their very own white vans. They take on the ultimate challenge for any white van driver - working as a real life roadie for The Who. Ray Winstone is the Star in a Reasonably Priced Car and Jenson Button will be tackling the Liana in the F1 Driver Challenge.

Hmm looks like the veyron is a no show again!

Spec....

I wish the UK got more Australian cars, I always get a good laugh when Jeremy makes fun of us.

Take out the Parkour stuff and show us the Veyron. Grrr!

VW won't let anyone test it independently yet (un-nannied) in case it turns out not all its cracked up to be. ;)

They can't stop a private owner though, unless they make some kind of contract for the owners. NIck Mason let Top Gear test his Enzo, someone could let them borrow their Veyron to test it (don't know who in the UK has one though).

somehow i doubt some owners will be keen giving there £1million car to the stig :scared:

£840,000 to Nick Mason probably isn't that much. How much free advertising did he get when he let them use his Enzo? A couple of minutes on one of the most popular programmes in the world. The Veyron would be insured and there isn't much to hit at the track, so the risk wouldn't be that high.

I would have completely agreed with you there....

.... But then the stig crashed the Koinegesgegsggssinegegss.

I especially like Top Gear, most likely because we don't really have anything like that in the States, since the Speed channel refuses to show anything besides NASCAR. I have to watch it on youtube.

I Agree 👍 👍 Big time...

I've been downloading some parts of the episodes and creating DVDs with them on there. That way I can show them to my friends, and then we can collectively get angry and write a letter to a network asking why we don't get it...

BTW: What ever happened to that "American Top Gear" pilot? Did it crash and burn that bad in front of the execs at Discovery? Or is the show literally that expensive to make?

They may as well ship over the Top Gear episodes from the UK. I belive the three-month run of the slightly altered Top Gear episodes from America went over quite well, which pretty much consisted of altered introductions to the cars for the American market, insults to Americans and other Europeans were tonned down, and prices were adjusted from GBP to USD.

...I think they would do fine. There are plenty of Americans, in particular younger Americans, who want this show on the air. Even if BBC America ran the show it would be a HUGE leap forward, but it is looking as though it won't happen any time soon.

---

Have they ever thought about relasing Top Gear on DVD in America? They could probably sell quite a few here, especially if they also included some of the older episodes from the '80s and '90s. I know you can buy some of the Top Gear stuff here in the US through Amazon.com, but it is for the most part outrageously expensive ($30 USD for the damn CD, $170 for a subscription to the magazine!!!).

The free runners vs 207 will be cool to watch, because free runners always put there lifes on the line guys.

I think you'll find that TopGear was shown in America, it was recently taken off the air to make way for an all new American version of TopGear with American presenters ect, this seems to have just dissapeared and YSSMAN isn't happy about not getting TopGear. So yes, he has a reason to complain if he so wishes, TopGear is shown in about 20 different countries, probably more.

try but it only went to the american market in the first place cause they complained they werent getting it,then when they did they complained about clarkson attitude towards amercans, thats why they took it off and tried to replace it iirc.
