-I think 6 cylinders engines sound the best, generally.

That's because you probably haven't heard a car like my '07 Impala. It's 3.5l High Value V6 might be a good engine. It's all electronically controlled(throttle body, fuel injection, etc), has variable valve timing(v-tec, vvti, mi-vec or however you want to call it), it's outstandingly efficient, has enough power, but... (drum rolls) it's an oldschool push-rod block!!

Sounds like a lazy cow. Almost like a throatier 3-cylinder but very drony low revs.

And that's why I said generally. There are some exceptions to that rule, like the new M3/4 straight 6, which sounds awful, or diesel engines that don't sound particularly good either, most 6 cylinder engines sound pretty good.

It's not bad to own a Mustang V6.
However, it is bad when owners try to pass off their V6 Mustang as anything other than what it really is, which is a V6 Mustang. Same deal with the ecoboost 4 cylinder mustangs.

The GM 60 degree isn't an inherently awful sounding engine either. It's more the specific application in question.
Can back with experience. I had an Impala with the 60 degree V6 for a while. The engine had a nice sound to it.

The Gen II 2.8/3.1 engines both had a nice low rpm growl. On the other hand, the chinese 3400 in my sister's '06 Equinox was just kind of there.

Modern Lotus look like plastic toasters.

The Ford GT90 is good looking.

All motorsport is boring at the moment.

The best car to buy is a Mazda don't ask me why.

1. I love the look of the Evora and the new Exige. But yes, they are made of plastic. Which is a good thing if you're interested in power to weight ratio...

2. The Ford GT90 is strangely good looking I'll give you that

3. WRC, MotoGP, WEC, AMA Supercross/Motocross, V8 Supercars are all fantastic to watch (to name a few)

4. I'm just going to have to flat out disagree with that one...

I have many more Clarkson lines on gtplanet.
I can't speak for them but I feel like there are other people aside from just me who don't necessarily consider this as something you should be proud of.

Otherwise there would probably be more people simply quoting him instead of giving their personal opinions here.

I think I might agree with you about WRC and WEC I'm not into MotorGP. I think F1 needs some real improvements and a V8 motor at least. V8 Supercars was great. DTM I don't know what its like now.

- I think Mercedes is trying to emulate BMW way more than they would admit

- Lancia is the greatest loss in Automotive history (BOOM!)

- I can't really understand why someone would buy a Nissan GT-R

- The F50 was a mistake

- The Lamborghini Jalpa is absolutely underrated

Lancia made great cars back in its day.

Are you talking about GTR in general or just the new car?

Lamborghini Jalpa is underrated but I think Lamborghini made it underrated.

Indeed it did :(

The newest one, the R32 and R34 are not my cup of tea but I can approve them :D

Yep, too bad because it's a very fascinating car

I can give you a short list into why:
  • Relatively cheap for how much performance you get.
  • It is comfortable enough to be used as a daily.
  • Extremely high-tech.
  • Can be easily modified to someones specific needs.
  • It has a high reliability rating, given that this car can be classed as a supercar it requires not as much maintenance compared to it rivals.
  • Also, it is highly regarded by many motoring magazines and reviewers so giving the owner a sense of security that they won't eventually start regretting buying the car.

Out of curiosity, what makes you think that? As far as styling, current Mercedes Benz cars look distinctive and not like they are trying to copy BMW's design language. At least that's what I think.

The only Mercedes Benz that I think looks similar to a BMW model is the GLC Coupe. That crossover seems like it was inspired by the BMW X6.

Both are absolutely horrible.

Still I can confuse some front ends even if I'm a huge car enthusiast. From a side view the C class and CLA look very much like the newest BMWs

Look at the front end

- There is something special about cheap used, boring Japanese (appliance) cars like a civic or camry. As I get older the more I appreciate I can go out and buy a comfortable and reliable form of transportation for well under 5 thousand dollars.

-After getting more into autocross and lapping the Nordscheife I am starting to lust after a good dual clutch transmission with paddles.

I feel the same way for euro cars like Passat B5, Bora, E46, Golf IV, 206 and so on.

Mazda deserves more customers than they get a year in the US. They're such a good car company, but they're seriously overshadowed by Honda, Toyota and the like.

Hilarious you should say this. The first time I saw the Model S was the first Gran Turismo 6 trailer, and I thought it was the Quattroporte.

The Ferrari F50 is the worst looking Ferrari ever.
I like the 6th gen Dodge Charger.
The LaFerrari is overrated.
The sound of the Pagani Huayra is the greatest sound ever.

It's the opposite with Honda here in Australia. Mazda and Toyota just smash Honda products. Shame.
