Update 1.06 Undocumented Changes Thread (documented changes also listed in OP)

Apparently these are in 1.06 as one of my friends showed me, apparently it was found on ngu, jk83 took the pic/found it I guess.

Probably the cars that will be unlocked at some point in time to be used in the 2014 Academy competition.

I agree though, this probably isn't served well here in this thread as it isn't something that is in the game now. Probably better in a thread like "Hidden Cars In GT6", if there is such a thing...or something related.

Never got this "warning" before when trying to connect to my only "friend" for "online" "racing":

"Entry refused due to network incompatibility [745]"

Before we just got a lot of disconnects. Now it no longer seems possible at all. Any others notice this?

It seems that how paints are reproduced in the game has been improved most notably the metallic based paints, someone posted a photo somewhere around.

That was a polarized paint, not metallic.

Just to prove that some of the paints have changed, here is the GT POLARIZED 001-P, before and after patch:

I agree, & it's one of the requests I've made in my Less Forcing, And More Options thread (see my sig, number 9).

However, it should be optional. Room hosts should be able to enable & disable it at will regardless of whether the room is set to Tuning Prohibited or not. That way, PD will keep everyone happy.

Yes, it's been fixed back to how it was before.

Actually for the best options it should be possible to set the minimum % the limiter can be set to. In CRAP we have had events and even series where minimum setting is 95% limiting. We have been able to trust members. Sorry for venturing off topic.

That was a polarised paint, not metallic.
Might be my eyes but the metallic paints seem to be better looking and this was my thoughts before noticing the polarized paints.

Either way it's not in the undocumented updates is all, I'll check the paints since I haven't added any new paints aside from the couple from a couple of purchased cars last night.

Better looking as in more glossy?

I know this can be rather subjective, but how exactly do they look better?

Some are a little more glossy and others have this decidedly multicoat look(more of I know this paint didn't look this good before type of revelation). I will tell you the name once I play the game again.

Side note why is it so hard to pm someone on here. There used to be an easier way before wasn't there. I was going to PM you instead of taking this thread off topic and getting a mod to gut check me in the process. Sorry no derailing intended.

I'm not fussed really about the names because I don't like Metallic paints. But I was interested because the polarized paint previously mentioned was hideous before and now looks a lot better, so I was curious to see if it was the same for metallic paints.

Many people have reported improved frame rate. I only had a chance to do a few laps last night but it felt better to me, will test more this evening. I always got terrible frame rate drop in the final chicanes at La Sarthe 2013 (damn ferris wheel) so I will go there tonight and if there's an improvement it will be very noticeable.
Frame drops are a total deal braker. I'll eventually jump in GT6 when they fix this and we have at least the same options we had in GT5 regarding arcade mode.

I need more than just one person's anecdotal evidence to put it in the undocumented updates otherwise every patch would have changes in physics, tire model, camber, downforce, grip etc. etc. etc. Before and after pictures from more than one person would be helpful. The picture @con360 posted looks like a completely different colour to me, not a revised paint, but if others post similar findings I'll throw it onto the list.

With several people reporting that they feel the physics have changed, I figured I'd have a look at it as well. In so far as I can tell, it's all the same. I am not a master tuner though, so don't take my word for it.

However! This nifty little new feature, the data logger, should come in VERY handy in determining whether anything changes in the future! It even registers such things as individual wheel speed and ride height, making it the perfect tool to find even the smallest differences between two different laps.

To start with, I recorded a best lap time of Tsukuba with the Rocket. Didn't get the very-best-uber-ultimate lap ever, but it should more than suffice to compare things like G-forces, accelerator input etc, for comparison with future patches.

I've found since the update,in open lobby when selecting friends it shows friends in lobbies rather than random lobbies.
EDIT:The bug was you had to press friends on off several times before it worked properly.

Yeah, they ruined that color. It looked better before 1.06, and was very similar to what it looked like in GT5. I had a Merc C63 painted that color in both games, but after this update, I changed colors. Couldn't stand the new look of it.

Give me an hour or two and I'll post sone more changed polarized :)

Edit: @Johnnypenso Car images shrink horizontally when you update the car image, give it a try and pay close attention to the main image and the small sideways image!

Edit 2: I don't have any before pictures for the other paints, sorry.

I thought it looked better after the update.

My two cents on the physics thing... Took me about 15 attempts to get in a clean lap without loosing the back end under braking at the end of Conrod at Bathurst in the Z4 GT3, to me this seemed really noticeable because i've prviously defended the handling of this car against such criticism. Problem is these days I don't play regularly enough to be confident.

The only car I've got saved replay data of at bathurst is the yellowhat GTR, so Ill try and find the time to stick in some laps and use the data logger to look at the differences.

I had picked Bathurst to check the frame rate drop down the mountain, and its still rubbish.

Yes indeed, & that is one of the requested features that has been there for some time now. 👍

Seen that and various other "entry refused" messages, number of times pre-1.06 so it's definitely not new.

I have not participated in any Seasonals for months now so these may not be new.

New layout? One on the right is the one I remember, on the left is the new one which is less cluttered. Can anyone confirm if this style was used before?

Also, in the notes there is reference to a special event using Photo Travel Mode with a link provided to www.gran-turismo.com that leads to this:

Again, has this been done before?

I also found this on the website:

New or no?

I couldn't see anywhere that this got replied to, so just in case, yes: this is a new event, added same time as the patch, although it's listed seperately to the patch on gran turismo's website, with the youtube prize thing and the photo contest all bundled into the same news post.

It looks like some vertical and horizontal interlacing is going on for smoke particles, when it overlaps result looks like on this screenshots above. It was there since the release, but it wasn't so much noticeable before. Overall i think GT5 smoke was much denser, if you omit jaggies, it looks better!
