Update 1.06 Undocumented Changes Thread (documented changes also listed in OP)

I've been very vocal about GT6's crappy framerate since its release... but I do feel it seriously improved with this last update.
I tried the Monaco track (which is the worst track in terms of framerate...with massive tearing for instance)... and it seems way better to me. Still far from perfect...but much better.

Did not try any other track though so it might be tweaks on the track model more than in the engine... i can't tell.

Anyone else finds the framerate way better?

I have to confess I did not believe this at first and had to check for myself and it's true. If you open a room with tuning prohibited, you can no longer use the engine limiter to reduce your PP even by 1 to fit your car into the regulations. On top of that, if you change the room back to unlimited tuning, the engine limiter function remains disabled.

What happens if you try this?

Get a completely stock car and just modify the limiter.

Then open a tuning prohibited room (no pp limit) and try using the same car. It might help narrow down the cause (or not).

I'm out today so can't help.

Quite a few have mentioned it earlier in this thread (including me). I've seen improvement at Mount Panorama and Brands Hatch. Haven't tried anywhere else yet.

When I played GT6, I didn't notice any physics changed either. Oh no. First people wanted to know if there were any upgraded standard cars. Now their wondering if physics changed? What a forum, haha.

Undocumented find:
Online, the time of day on compatible tracks now stays at value you set when altering lobbysettings.
Before update, it always switched back to a certain standard value once you entered lobbysettings again.

we run an endurance race and people could change limiter in their setting freely in a tune prohibited room. No clue what you guys talk about...

Or you mean you can't alter the room settings? If that's it it's superfluos since you can check with the new room tool...

When installing a spoiler wing on a Midget, a second set of spoiler wing brackets used to appear in the bed instead of on the roof (where the actual spoiler wing is fitted). The second set of brackets on the bed now no longer appear.

I've done some testing and this is not strictly correct.

If tuning is not prohibited then the power limiter is disabled/locked. If your selected car had any power limit applied, this is removed and your car's HP is at 100%.

If you change the room setting to 'tuning prohibited' the power limiter is still disabled/locked.

However.....

If you start a room with 'tuning prohibited' then you can still de-tune a car using the power limiter. Once you change the room setting though, the power limiter is locked and cannot be enabled without closing the lobby and starting another room.

This is obviously a bug, possibly mixed with an documented feature.

So my one-make series with PP handicapping is safe for now. (Until PD *fix* it)

If they were aware of and read these undocumented changes threads they might have woken up and started documenting all changes themselves by now. But no, ever since update 1.02 for GT5 these threads have been required and that doesn't seem likely to change soon.

When online, press pause, and go into the Quick Options menu, Ghost Display has been added, and you can change between Semi-Transparent, and Line for how you view your Ghost.

You can also change your 3D settings right at the very bottom of the Quick Options Menu

Your post has been missed twice because the ghost part did not get added in 1.06. It's been there a while.

But the 3D settings part obviously did.

The following issue has been addressed:

- An issue wherein the value of the [Power Limiter] in the "Car Settings" cannot be modified when the [Vehicle Tuning] option within the [Event Settings] screen of the Open Lobby is set to [Prohibited].

Well that's that problem fixed then.
