Why does it seems like that everybody wants a save feature for ENDURANCE races? Doesn't the save feature just beat the purpose of the meaning of the word? Yes, there is a possibility that you will get YLOD and possibly won't finish 24h by yourself, but isn't in real life you get to do it with 2-3 other people anyway? Do that and you'll be good. Take the risk if you really want the trophy.

If you get payed for playing GT5 and can buy a new PS3 whenever you want -> congratulations to you and your fantastic life.

I don´t play a game with the risk to damage my console.

And if you mention real life endurance, you should know, that every driver races stints of 2 hours and then have a break...think about it.

Some of us simply can't play a videogame for 24h straight due to kids, work or other responsibilities in our daily life so for us a save feature would be nice to finish Gran Turismo 100% some day in the future.
Although I see where you're coming from, but I don't think my friends a into driving games enough to spend an entire day racing the same track... :dopey:

It would be nifty if we could team up as online racing teams and help each other finish the endurance races, like some kind of semi online racing.

OPeople complaining about them doing one thing instead of another amuse me. Within a games company there are different jobs, people making the different suits etc would not be the same coding in mid race saves.

At the minute they have added mid championship saves, that is a good start. It is not an easy thing just to add something like a save to a dynamic race that isn't scripted, it takes time.

As I said about the risk of getting YLOD, it's a risk. Nobody tells you to play it, it is your own decision to go ahead with it. In the electronics world, especially with the demands of higher output from it, it will break no matter what, it is just too bad that the life span has decreased dramatically because of a better output.

Didn't I mentioned too that you can do it with 2-3 people. Nobody tells you can't. The difference is that the rules of changing drivers in real life doesn't apply in virtual gaming. I think it is smart for PD not to include the save feature for endurance race as the word can still stand by its own meaning. The only difference is that one is real life and the other is virtual.

Show me where they announced that this particular (1.10) update would contain new tracks. Answer: they didn't.

Choosing to believe that Sony/PD adding some logos to a website folder means that all those tracks will be in the very next update is just stupid.

Exactly, only when PD announces a Spec II or something similar can you expect the update to be big. 👍

Not at all what I said. I never expected it this early. HOWEVER! If you read Kaz's interview from not too long ago, (on here) he said he wanted another two years on this game. It is not unreasonable to expect that he had some half finished projects laying around and now he is going around cleaning up the bits.

Plenty of drivers drive for much longer durations than two hours.

Granted, 24 hours straight sounds hellish. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if some idiot has a heart attack from drinking 4 gallons of coffee trying to manage, and then sues PD over it.

But I don't think it's appropriate to have a save feature for mid race. If you don't want to race a 24 hour event, perhaps you should pick a shorter event. My suggestion would be to allow B spec drivers to share driving duties for the 9 hour and longer events. They could have some kind of requirement that you complete X percentage of the race.

But pausing an endurance race, and returning to it later? Whether the PS3 turns off or stays on over the week long ordeal, I don't really think that's much of an endurance run.

I understand that we have a life, it is our own decision to choose what are priorities first. Yes it would be nice to finish the game 100%, but if life restricts us from doing that, then so be it.

The bold part is not too shabby either. That is one good idea, but it is basically just the same thing I suggested about finding friends to do the virtual race in real life.

The best solution for the 24 hour races is to have the possibility to bring your B-spec drivers to the race. As Schwadegan pointed out, i don't see my self doing the 24 hour race in A-spec mode. Otherwise i'll be obliged to leave my PS3 on for at least a week, and i don't think that's good for the hardware...

It'll be good to experience the weather change and the night/day cycle during the 24 hour race but a lot of us just don't have enough time.

I too wouldn't be surprise if someone sues because of that, hello USA!!

At least someone shares the same feeling I have towards save feature in endurance races. :)

Good guess.

It's clear to me a lot of features were in mid development, and are now being completed. I wouldn't be surprised if there are assets on the GT5 disc that need updates to fully tweak, too.

It's was no surprise to a lot of us when that empty space on GT Life started filling with icons. There's an obvious space left for yet one more, too. And I bet that comes in time.

Isn't it reason enough that most of us actually want a "save feature" even if you don't.

Youv'e still got the option not to use it if it was implemented someday.

I wasn't referring to you personally, just the general public. 👍 And yeah, I think there's plenty of stuff they're working on as we speak. I'm just not expecting any of them to be released to the general public until they announce it.

Yeah, I will not touch the endurances till we get an "in race save" option... WTH why should I left my PS3 on for weeks(the maximum I would race a day is 1hour and also not on weekends), only to finish an 24H race

Ridiculous that in race saves for endurance races has not been implemented. That was clearly one of the most asked for features.

Meanwhile pointless updates to race uniforms etc, which nobody asked for.

Ignoring the customer is never a good idea. :grumpy:

With the save feature its all about choice, I would choose to use it, but if you don't think its appropriate then don't, its not like me using a save for a 24 hour race on a game that if i get 1 hr to play a week is a good week makes me a better or worse person than someone who is able to play more regularly and doesn't want to use the save feature.

I would love the option to have a save feature for when life comes before a video GAME, which happens to be most of the time, I just can't understand why people seem to miss this point so much and make such a big deal about it.

Just my 2 cents

I completely agree.

This is getting off topic though, as no save feature for the endurance races was added in this update.

+1
Besides, if that is cheating, people can still "cheat" and leave the PS3 on with the game on pause.

I'm liking the update. Like the previous ones, it fixes some things and adds new ones. Things that already should be there? Granted. But for them to be there, the game wouldn't have launched yet!

To those whining and complaining, stop. Make proper suggestions and understand that if it makes sense and "we" want them, Kaz will implement them eventually.

The game is growing and evolving nicely IMO. Keep them updates coming and the game fresh PD!

Best update yet! But it still pains me to think that some of these should've been there since day 1 (driver gear changes). Keep it up PD!

Absolutely agree this is the most wanted feature for an eventual 1.11 patch if they'll ever do it. I hope the "save" during championships will open PD's mind and point them in the right direction to what people need, we can't play games for 24H.

Anyway this patch bring us something funny, helmet and race suits, they are great! :D it give us the opportunity to mach car's color and also online team mates color if you choose the same.

Installing this update just corrupted my save data.

There goes 7 months work :(

Looks like GT5 decided to have its own welcome back program, new level tickets and half price and 0 miles on the store

That's what I thought. The more I think about it, the more complicated it sounds. The way I thought about it is being able to save like in rpg games, or even more dynamic like pokemon where you pick off exactly where you left off, without the need to find a saving point (in this case, probably the pitstops if it were to use one).

In any case, if they manage to do it, they probably would be the first ones to do so in a racing game.
