Not that the difference matters but I was referring more to separate courses. I know that Bugatti is debatable because it overlaps with Ciruit de la Sarthe so some wouldn't consider it a completely different track, but it's a unique layout and not just a truncated version of Sarthe. Even something as small at Tsukuba's Circuit 1000 track could be viable for karts and some street cars.

Agreed and the sorroundings of Bugatti circuit are already mostly done, as for the majority are shared with the 24h Circuit.
My guess there are some restrictions related to licenses.

Begs the question whether every car featured in the opening movie will eventually make an appearance. Racing through the ages..
I remember I was told(in the old Porsche thread), just because the Porsches were in the opening movie, doesn't mean we were getting those or any Porsches. Hmmm. Now, back to that new Supra...

And I'm still waiting for this bad boy

I was talking about Tokyo, which is a fantasy track using real roads. I like most of the layouts but it is wasteful. I don't know nor care how passionate anyone at PD is about their job, I am only judging on their output.

Fair points.

I think Tokyo Expressway is the beginning of more real world locations made into racing circuits, I'm sure Tokyo is popular among Japanese players who drive those roads daily and love tearing them up without getting fined in virtual reality. This is all speculation but I love how passionate people are about their creations even if it takes more time. In my opinion the quality is hard to beat as it stands. Weather and time cycling along with the possibility of ray tracing will be very interesting indeed. Forza is fun, DiRT Rally is much better. Gran Turismo is the go to for me and I'm happily waiting for more free DLC created with care. I'll wait to check out DiRt Rally 2, DiRt 4 was the Croc of Flip-Flops.

Both are still already in the game...

I hadn't noticed them, thanks for letting me know. It was a speculation based on the silhouette photos. Now that you say that, I'll stick with my other guess of it being an E Type Coupe instead of an XJ13. I'm alright with a new Porsche as long as it isn't a 25+ year old 911........

That would be really cool, that car showing in the thumbnail of the video, I'd love to take that one to the ring, would be cool to do some historical race series with cars like that on the NBR, Le Sarthe and Suzuka.

Am I the only one who finds GT4/GT3 driving pretty decent in GTS but could live without older cars due to the lacking clutch/throttle implementation and ability to drive without ABS? The latter also effects cars under WEC rules.

What’s the car that appears at 1:37 in the opening movie? Is that a 356?

If the shot you're talking about is the interior footage, no, you can see a small Mercedes badge inside one of the dials. If you're talking about the shot immediately following, yes, that's a 356, but that's some old archive footage. There's no indicator or paper trail leading to any of the cars in the archive footage being scanned. Some of the exact same rally footage was used in the Grand Tour's Audi-vs-Lancia Group B episode.

I've always been intrigued about the cinematic shots (0:38, 0:48, 0:55, 1:02, 1:17, 1:33, 1:47, 2:02) though - it's clearly modern imagery, and all happen to be the same marque. I'm wondering if Mercedes let PD go ham in their museum, and we'll see a lot of those old racers show up in the game eventually.

The 86 Gr.4 uses an H-pattern animation. How old are you thinking is old or too old?

Fair point. More precise: Cars that have auto-clutch and are therefore exclusively driven with left-foot braking are pretty decent for me in GTS ;) (I can live with having to drive LMP cars with ABS).

Steep cliffside directly beyond barrier (Deep Forest) and unprotected cliff walls (Grand Valley, Trial Mountain and Midfield).
Thats a good point but slightly flawed when you consider one of the new Tokyo layouts has a straight right next to a Shinkansen line with nothing more than a waist high guard rail separating the two. I may have been imagining this but, due to the FIA certification, wasn't there something about all the non-dirt tracks having to be FIA spec?

EDIT: Dammit, I should have read just a few responses later...
Summary: The FIA don't get involved with the fictional tracks,
Well, thats that then! :lol::lol::lol:

I could see a problem with FIA races. Say there was a 240Z Gr.4. Not being able to use the Seqential Transmission option, would definitely be a disadvantage. The V8 Supercar XR8 uses an H-pattern. If that were in Gr.3, it'd be a disadvantage. Mainly in upshifts. Downshifts might be better for wheel users skipping gears(5-3, 4-2).

Which, aside from looking completely different, is also already in the game.

The Jaguar XJ13 came in 1.11 in January 2018.
Both the old and new Alpine A110 arrived in 1.13 at the end of February 2018.
The Jaguar E-Type Coupe arrived in 1.29 in November 2018.

That 1928 Mercedes-Benz SSK sure is a beauty. We might have a chance of getting that in the future since we're waiting on the 1929 Mercedes-Benz S Tourer Pebble Beach winner to show up. To be honest, although the S Barker Tourer is a coach-built car and surely is very sweet, I'd much prefer the SSK because they had so much more power and performance than the standard S model.
The '29 S Barker Tourer GT Award winner yet to come:

Speaking of TVR.

Love that they have a go at it, but if the car is going to look like the Cerbera in these pictures, I am dissapointed.

The styling they have added doesnt work at all with muscular, fat but simple design of the Cerbera Speed 12 itself.

These are the Cerbera Speed 12’s re-engineered to finaly make them road legal and reliable. Most of the ones that ran back in the day where race cars for British GT.

The original Speed 12, as featured in early GT’s, has unique styling, but only ran for a season in British GT.
