Update Patch 1.08 is up

I have posted this before but it's worth saying it again

At the beginning ranking up was quicker and so it didn't take long to unlock the next event to race in. Now that people are higher in levels it takes quite a lot of time to unlock the next race event by having to constantly repeat the same few events that have already been completed.

I have found myself recently not playing the game for racing (because I find doing the same completed events over and over boring) but to level up enough to unlock the next event to race in

In previous Gran Turismo's the license tests and the cost of the car to compete I found to be enough of a barrier and was actually realistic. If I couldn't complete the test, I couldn't do the races that you had to have that license for, which kept my interest as I had a challenge. Now I have to level up to race in a new event by driving an X2010 around an oval over and over, hardly a challenge and hardly fun, but I am forced to do so so that I have a fresh event to race in and new cars to win.

Surely I should be spending more time actually having fun participating in new races and events instead of simply trying to level up? Which is why I think people exploited this bug.

I hope in future Gran Turismo games they go back to license tests and more events because using the levelling system the game is no fun when you are at the higher levels.

👍 👍

1.08.... disappointing...

they did not see the 1.08 wishlist.

Yes,instead of fixing the serious and more prominent problems with the game they did something so minor and negligible even.TSK TSK PD!!:ouch:

Yes, I am not very excited about this patch since I do not use the cheat.

I'm sure they could be doing both at the same time. Think of this as an emergency update. They'll just rename the what was to be the 1.08 update to the 1.09 update - it's only a number.

I like Tezter's hypothesis! :)

If you're using sarcasm, then why make accusations about facts you don't know?

Fact is every lvl 40 now is useless, most people are now lvl 40 because of the recent exp patch and mostly this glitch. Lvl 40 isn't even a challenge anymore, waste of time doing it the old way when nobody will acknowledge it as an achievement anymore.

Why on earth is this like the ONLY forum where the members and even Mods are so uptight? Srsly its the internet, relaxzor.

The thing that I don't get is the people against the glitch, whining that now 'Nobody will acknowledge it as an acheivement anymore'. Really? it is a game!! You paid to play, I paid to play. The thing is, I have kids that are young, a job, do classes to stay current in my profession-- important things. And I do not have toime to fight against a ridiculous money amount for the top cars. I want to drive them and enjoy them. It is why I bought the game. Not to grind away at Indy for the rest of my life. Just to buy the top Alfa Romea race car, the Muria prototype, the F2007 and F10, and the Ford Mark IV would mean grinding Indy over 900 times. That is stupid to make the payouts so small and the price so high that most people cannot possibly buy all the cars. It is a game.

Acheivement? Being a parent. WOrking and raising kids, going to school, setting up retirements, savings, those things are acheivements. Getting to level 40 without a cheat? It is a game. Nothing more. Doing that to me is like playing community softball, and acting like it is an acheivement like you are Albert Pujols. The only reason I have ever got online is to do the glitch to make the money so I can buy the race cars that I want. Since PD took them away from Championship series prizes like in GT4 and gave up crap cars for prizes (for the most part). And since you cant re-race a series and win the racecars againa and then sell them to generate money to buy other race cars.

PD is the one who broke this game. GT3 and GT4 were doable, plenty of different races to enjoy while being able to reasonably gain the various racecars that you wanted.

BTW, congrats on your 'acheivement'. You got to level 40 all on your own. I bet Donald Trump wants to hire you now. You are a proven winner.

Update will roll out based on region it seems. Gran-Turismo site is down, remote racing can be done but only from the PS3. There is no patch yet in NYC.

The fact is it IS a game, and after doing months of work on it, it would be nice to finish it knowing it was actually a challenge unlike most PS3 games nowadays. Games that are easy are NOT fun, and i salute GT5 for actually making one of the only PS3 games that is fun to play because of this. You're obviously not a full time gamer, and i respect that, no sarcasm involved congratulations on the kids it's a wonderful thing no doubt, however some of us arent all the same, we're still in our teens and like gaming in our spare time for something fun to do other than going out and blowing money on alcohol and gambling. Yes, things are different in the next few years compared to now, but just keep in mind not everyone is the same age/has the same goals.

Gran-Turismo.com was down just now for less than 5 minutes. I have no idea if this is connected to the impending PSN downtime but its back up.

Maybe a different time zone? just maybe?

No, he's right, this is probably fake. It is still the 9th in Jakarta ( Location of the OP ), even now, it's 10.19pm as they are 7 hours ahead of me (GMT).

Dammit, I wish I didn't have to quit GT5 when I knew the update was coming. I was too busy glitching but I quit just to do some duping. Great, thank you PD for ruining GT5 even more. I swear I will be playing NFS Shift 2 once it comes out and let my GT5 collect dust as I please...

Okay, rant aside I think its better if I just play something else for the time being. Or better yet, maybe I should just stop playing my PS3 altogether start playing my Xbox 360 and enjoy Forza 3 like I always do... 👍

Good. One less forum complainer that I have to read.💡

im admittedly a little sick of the glitch... ive used it several times and whatever to get what i wanted but now its just enough.. quicker it dies the better

GT5 glitches extend to their website?:sly:
Nah joking. It's odd to say the least.

1) I think 20 million for the top cars is ridiculous, at least judging from the amount of the game which I've played. Even with loads of Bspec remote friends, it's going to take me a ridiculous amount of time to get them, especially since there are other cars I may want to buy as well. (anyone seen a Blubird Rally Car, btw? :))

2) I have no sympathy for the glitchers.

3) It's annoying that PD has to spend time on stuff like this.

I think what we all need to realize is that when PD has allocate resources to patching glitches and the like, less time is available for putting in community requested features.:indiff:

Enjoy Shift 2. We don't need people like you around...

Its only killing the game for people that use the glitch, if you dont it has no effect

What is with people, who cares if others are cheating/glitching it doesnt effect someone that doesnt in any way

No, that's BS. I've never done the glitch and I'm thankful it's been fixed.
Last night, I tried to do a couple races online. I searched for "Race for fun" and guess what I found. Literally 70 - 80% of the lobbies were on SSR7 and had "easy money" or some such name. Only about 2 were for the usual drag racing. It took me about ten minutes to find a race with more than one person that wasn't glitching. (also excluding Nascar or drifting 'cause I don't do that much)

Now I'll actually be able to race online again.

And don't even say "make your own damn room." It's been like this with every game I've played, no one joins my rooms. It's not a connection issue, it's just that people ignore my lobbies.

this is precisely the reason im sick of it 👍
