But I do call my girl cousins bro.

if you guys noticed, it says 3/10/2011. since today is the 9th...this update is fake!
yup I noticed that. A bit weird, because the note says 3/10 even at the time i update it was still 9th.
Maybe it was based on Japan time?
If it was japan time, the text would not be english.

So if you counterfeit money in real life and then go out and buy a ton of stuff with that money you're actually helping the economy and should be commended for your humanitarian efforts! You're not hurting anybody are you? Same thing with cheating on a test in high school. You're not hurting anybody except yourself so why should anybody care?
Yeah, I know it's not exactly the same thing, but the point is that doing something that isn't intended to get ahead is cheating, even if it doesn't hurt anybody else. I don't care how anybody else plays their game, but trying to say that it's not cheating is just naive.
PSN is down here at the moment anyway just chilling with some B-spec grind so no worries on the save hehe![]()
Ahh the "I have a life" argument. Classic.
Heres what you don't realize, just another perspective. Yes YOU don't care about the achievement, YOU don't play online. Theres enough of you as well to be a vocal group (in the 5% of all 5million+ GT5 players who are posters on this forum).
What YOU and others don't realize is just because it doesn't matter to YOU doesn't make it any less fun/important to other people. The fact of the matter is the designers made a game they intended to be played a certain way over a long period of time. People buy games to play for a challenge. Yes not everyone does, as evidenced by the fact that you an many others like you are very vocal about wanting to just be able to drive around and tune cars.
The problems being the following: (and lets ignore that yes it is not perfect) the game is designed to be played over the long term. The fact that credits are limited means they also designed it so that theres so many cars theres variation in races as everyone can't easily own every car. They designed a level system so that at a glance someone could see whether another online player is experienced or not, as well to allow the unlocking of certain events. The intention was for people to work up to certain cars and certain races, and play like this.
However then cheating comes into the mix, and everyones duping and getting every car, and you have low level players with cars like the X1, etc etc. Now rare cars aren't rare, level is just an arbitrary number. I bet their original hope was (for example) high level players could race eachother in their X1s online easily in a open lobby which is now completely impossible.
So yeah YOUR gameplay isn't affecting others but the cheats and culture of cheating IS affecting people who don't - outside of our little microcosm here -, and so for the greater good these things need to be stopped. The game isn't about YOU its about everyone, and who are you to decide whether or not its ok for someone to enjoy the achievement in beating races and leveling up, or putting the time in at higher levels enjoying the cars they have, marveling at ones they want, and eventually saving up to get them. You don't HAVE TO cheat, or HAVE TO grind, you want to, because you want every car. Not the games "fault" or other players, just your own.

"Do not be alarmed: The PlayStation Network is down, but it's routine maintenance. The system will be down from Wednesday, March 9, 8:00 AM, Pacific Time Down Time until Wednesday, March 9, 7:00 PM, Pacific Time. That's a full 11 hours of no PSN for you PS3 and PSP users."
getting to level 40 in this game is hardly a challenge... it is just a time consuming job. even a monkey can get to lvl 40 in this game. challenge is to complete special events, races or licences with gold.

And lastly, I hope all the whiners like you signed up for GT academy because if you take online racing this personally but were too lazy to sign up for GTA you're just a giant piece of crap.
No disrespect but why don't you two PM each other. 👍
This thread is after all, about the patch, not debating the ethics of utilising glitches.
To the cars being rare thing...the games been out for months, nothing is "rare" anymore. Cars stopped being "rare" like 2 weeks after the games release, its a pointless statement/arguement to make and only lends to the fact that you and any other clown who thinks GT5 cars shoud be "rare" are ENVIOUS/JEALOUS over a friggin video game. Any bum with enough time could grind out b-spec til lvl 35 and get the x1 in a matter of hours or a few days. Many people even finished bspec before even starting a-spec because it was much easier to do. So what should their x1's be held from them until they hit a certain lvl of a-spec so your feelings aren't hurt when you see some kid lvl40 bspec and lvl 2 aspec whoopin you with an x1 online? Gimme a break with this "rare car" crap, you're just JEALOUS of someone elses garage in a video game. And why aren't you calling for an end to the gtp marketplace then? You could find any "rare" car for trade you wanted there and didn't have to "earn" it. Did it make you cry?
On your last part...wow. You say his gameplay doesn't affect others but the cheating does, but isn't the "cheating" considered part of his gameplay?
You say "for the greater good it needs to be stopped". Good of what? You're whiney little ego that's bruised? Other than seeing people do donuts in SSR7 how do you whiners even know the people you accuse of cheating actually are cheaters? YOU DON'T! You just assume there's no way someone should have that many more cars than you so they must be a "cheater".
And they guy you responded to never said you don't have the right to enjoy leveling up the "true" way like you implied. He said you don't have the right to tell him a "right" or "wrong" way to play. I doubt he gives 2 shnikes about how you play. And he never said he wanted every car, he just wants enough to get the cars he really wants without having to grind.
It still comes down to online raceing and whiners like you letting your egos get bruised over online video games. If noones ps3 had internet you'd have no idea what anyone else did with their gt5 game and no reason to care about "cheating". If you did care still your a giant toolbag. But since people are online and you can see their garages you get JEALOUS. You think "he shouldn't have that car yet if i don't!", or "there's no way he got that without duping it" and you work yourself up and take it personally...all over a stupid online video game.
I waited in line at toys r us in 7th grade to get GT1, played em all up through GT3. Didn't get 4 or prologue because I got sick of the repetition and grinding from GT1 thru 3. I knew how tedious the game was. So I was very pleasently surprised with GT5 and the ease of getting cars I really want. I finally felt with the gifting of cars and back-up saves they hit a balance between game difficulty and ease of getting cars people really wanted. Subsequent updates have squashed that and really just took the game back to GT3 levels for me. Aside from some new cars and graphics the game is now just as tedious and mind-numbing as it ever used to be.
I mean they give freakin gift tickets when you do a race 100 times, basically admitting you have to endlessly repeat, repeat, repeat, to ever get anywhere in this game without "cheating" as you call it. Such a stupid admission by PD, resulting from a far to granduos opinion of their game. Most people who buy this game buy it because it's the closest real-life simulation to driving cars they want/love/follow, not because they want to pretend to have an online fantasy racing career like you.

Then it's not cheating. Fake money obviously hurts the economy, and cheating on a test means that intellegence/ability does not decide who goes to better colleges, etc.
Glitching no SS7 just makes GT5 fun. There is no comparison.

A whole lot of assumptions. And if the level system is supposed to tell you who's good and who isn't, it's utterly useless. Win ratio isn't counted, and there's nothing to stop people from leveling with super overpowered cars, or using seasonals when they were high pay.
Also, how PD intended to play is only that. It's not how people must or should play.
Besides GT5 allowing a level 0 A-Spec to earn the X1, what's stopping this? I've done it. By far, most of my races have been open. It's easier getting a nice, fair open race than it is organizing a large private room.
Likewise, "legit" players don't need to be concerned over exploiters. The value of their achievements rest on their shoulders and no one elses'. They can still earn and do what they want regardless.
