if you guys noticed, it says 3/10/2011. since today is the 9th...this update is fake!

yup I noticed that. A bit weird, because the note says 3/10 even at the time i update it was still 9th.
Maybe it was based on Japan time?

Maybe the patch wasn't supposed to come out today. That would explain why only a few regions have got it. Wouldn't be the first time PD messed up.

If it was japan time, the text would not be english.

It was still the 9th in Japan, at the time you posted the thread.:sly:

I imagine that this will be with EU..UK.. After midnight.. more than likely between 3-4am ;) happy glitch is getting the chop here :)

So if you counterfeit money in real life and then go out and buy a ton of stuff with that money you're actually helping the economy and should be commended for your humanitarian efforts! You're not hurting anybody are you? Same thing with cheating on a test in high school. You're not hurting anybody except yourself so why should anybody care?

Yeah, I know it's not exactly the same thing, but the point is that doing something that isn't intended to get ahead is cheating, even if it doesn't hurt anybody else. I don't care how anybody else plays their game, but trying to say that it's not cheating is just naive.

first, counterfeiting money is a crime. and you actually hurt the economy, because you inject artificial money, thus increasing demand, increasing prices. second, you will hurt the person that gets your fake money.

about cheating on a test, of course it is cheating, because you are gettiing benefits on your performance that you didnt earn, and yes, it can harm other people if is some kind of contest.

id rather compare a student doing a math exam with a calculator and the other without one... the first one will just fo it faster, without getting any other benefit, as the calculator will be useless if he doesnt know what to do with it.

like i said before, its just a time saver

LoL, I tried the glitch last night just to see what all the hubbub was about. Cramped my hands since it took me like 20 minutes of holding the controller in the exact same position, and it was kind of boring, but I'm glad I checked it out before the fix. It's like Sir Edmund Hillary's response when asked why he climbed Everest: "Because it was there."

Just watched a bunch of lunatics smashing up their GTRs online on SSR7 smashing into walls and each other. Cars flying through the air, most cars totally smashed to
f:censored:k... (I'm assuming they were doing the 'glitch') So funny to watch. I'd give them a few grand and a car for the entertainment.

PSN is down here at the moment anyway just chilling with some B-spec grind so no worries on the save hehe :)

and will be for 11 hours :/

"Do not be alarmed: The PlayStation Network is down, but it's routine maintenance. The system will be down from Wednesday, March 9, 8:00 AM, Pacific Time Down Time until Wednesday, March 9, 7:00 PM, Pacific Time. That's a full 11 hours of no PSN for you PS3 and PSP users."

Ahh the "I have a life" argument. Classic.

Heres what you don't realize, just another perspective. Yes YOU don't care about the achievement, YOU don't play online. Theres enough of you as well to be a vocal group (in the 5% of all 5million+ GT5 players who are posters on this forum).

What YOU and others don't realize is just because it doesn't matter to YOU doesn't make it any less fun/important to other people. The fact of the matter is the designers made a game they intended to be played a certain way over a long period of time. People buy games to play for a challenge. Yes not everyone does, as evidenced by the fact that you an many others like you are very vocal about wanting to just be able to drive around and tune cars.

The problems being the following: (and lets ignore that yes it is not perfect) the game is designed to be played over the long term. The fact that credits are limited means they also designed it so that theres so many cars theres variation in races as everyone can't easily own every car. They designed a level system so that at a glance someone could see whether another online player is experienced or not, as well to allow the unlocking of certain events. The intention was for people to work up to certain cars and certain races, and play like this.

However then cheating comes into the mix, and everyones duping and getting every car, and you have low level players with cars like the X1, etc etc. Now rare cars aren't rare, level is just an arbitrary number. I bet their original hope was (for example) high level players could race eachother in their X1s online easily in a open lobby which is now completely impossible.

So yeah YOUR gameplay isn't affecting others but the cheats and culture of cheating IS affecting people who don't - outside of our little microcosm here -, and so for the greater good these things need to be stopped. The game isn't about YOU its about everyone, and who are you to decide whether or not its ok for someone to enjoy the achievement in beating races and leveling up, or putting the time in at higher levels enjoying the cars they have, marveling at ones they want, and eventually saving up to get them. You don't HAVE TO cheat, or HAVE TO grind, you want to, because you want every car. Not the games "fault" or other players, just your own.

getting to level 40 in this game is hardly a challenge... it is just a time consuming job. even a monkey can get to lvl 40 in this game. challenge is to complete special events, races or licences with gold.

the level system is so terrible that you have a race that is unlocked at level 40... and doesnt give ANY XP, because you are already at the maximum level! that race should unlock earlier, this way it would at least be worth something.

do you want rare cars? make them prize cars, as they were in gt4. and make them unbuyable. this is the way you make things rare, and not doing it in a way that any grinder can get it.

i don't understand with racing on x1 is hard now... you can do it anytime.

the truth is: this game has a dreadful reward and levelling system. i had to do the same b-spec race like 10 times just to unlock the last race... why? where is the fun? where is the challenge? i should be able to race the last race as soon as i won the one before it!

all those things are just put in a way to deliberately waste our time... so its perfectly reasonable to try to cut some corners on this matter.

want the grinding to stop? just make more events, let us sell our prize cars like we did in gt4 (hell, i have two earned X1s.... two Minoltas... and i can't sell them. why would i need to? i'd rather sell one of them for 10 million bucks and buy a handful of other cars)...

"first, counterfeiting money is a crime. and you actually hurt the economy, because you inject artificial money, thus increasing demand, increasing prices"

Congratulations, you just worked out how the banking system operates.

"second, you will hurt the person that gets your fake money."

So, how does it feel, citizen?

TBH I would be very surprised if its that long. Where is the source of this info?

I agree with everything you wrote but this is key sentence.

Only reason the network is going down for this long is because of the hackers, Sony has to restructure the network security measures so it can detect most of the PS3 hacking methods and other things that need fixing.

So, no more duping... no more SS7 glitch. How long before someone finds the next exploit? I give it about 3 days. :D lol

[not that I promote exploiting in any way...I don't do it myself, but there are many who see it as a necessity/challenge]

To the cars being rare thing...the games been out for months, nothing is "rare" anymore. Cars stopped being "rare" like 2 weeks after the games release, its a pointless statement/arguement to make and only lends to the fact that you and any other clown who thinks GT5 cars shoud be "rare" are ENVIOUS/JEALOUS over a friggin video game. Any bum with enough time could grind out b-spec til lvl 35 and get the x1 in a matter of hours or a few days. Many people even finished bspec before even starting a-spec because it was much easier to do. So what should their x1's be held from them until they hit a certain lvl of a-spec so your feelings aren't hurt when you see some kid lvl40 bspec and lvl 2 aspec whoopin you with an x1 online? Gimme a break with this "rare car" crap, you're just JEALOUS of someone elses garage in a video game. And why aren't you calling for an end to the gtp marketplace then? You could find any "rare" car for trade you wanted there and didn't have to "earn" it. Did it make you cry?

On your last part...wow. You say his gameplay doesn't affect others but the cheating does, but isn't the "cheating" considered part of his gameplay?

You say "for the greater good it needs to be stopped". Good of what? You're whiney little ego that's bruised? Other than seeing people do donuts in SSR7 how do you whiners even know the people you accuse of cheating actually are cheaters? YOU DON'T! You just assume there's no way someone should have that many more cars than you so they must be a "cheater".

And they guy you responded to never said you don't have the right to enjoy leveling up the "true" way like you implied. He said you don't have the right to tell him a "right" or "wrong" way to play. I doubt he gives 2 shnikes about how you play. And he never said he wanted every car, he just wants enough to get the cars he really wants without having to grind.

It still comes down to online raceing and whiners like you letting your egos get bruised over online video games. If noones ps3 had internet you'd have no idea what anyone else did with their gt5 game and no reason to care about "cheating". If you did care still your a giant toolbag. But since people are online and you can see their garages you get JEALOUS. You think "he shouldn't have that car yet if i don't!", or "there's no way he got that without duping it" and you work yourself up and take it personally...all over a stupid online video game.

I waited in line at toys r us in 7th grade to get GT1, played em all up through GT3. Didn't get 4 or prologue because I got sick of the repetition and grinding from GT1 thru 3. I knew how tedious the game was. So I was very pleasently surprised with GT5 and the ease of getting cars I really want. I finally felt with the gifting of cars and back-up saves they hit a balance between game difficulty and ease of getting cars people really wanted. Subsequent updates have squashed that and really just took the game back to GT3 levels for me. Aside from some new cars and graphics the game is now just as tedious and mind-numbing as it ever used to be.

I mean they give freakin gift tickets when you do a race 100 times, basically admitting you have to endlessly repeat, repeat, repeat, to ever get anywhere in this game without "cheating" as you call it. Such a stupid admission by PD, resulting from a far to granduos opinion of their game. Most people who buy this game buy it because it's the closest real-life simulation to driving cars they want/love/follow, not because they want to pretend to have an online fantasy racing career like you.

And lastly, I hope all the whiners like you signed up for GT academy because if you take online racing this personally but were too lazy to sign up for GTA you're just a giant piece of crap.

Sheesh - chill out !

No disrespect but why don't you two PM each other. 👍
This thread is after all, about the patch, not debating the ethics of utilising glitches.

If it was just about the patch it would have been 1 post and done with, as it is its just a load of hypocrits chearing and cheaters crying
its a game get a life
if people want to use the glitches they or others find its up to them if you choose to trade under a different name and tell people you've never duped thats upto you who cares
PD need to wake up 10 years to put a game on the shelf 6 years later than expected and they havnt had time to test it for glitches

Whoever whinges about pixelating tyre smoke needs to grow up and go and buy GT1 or 2 , maybe they would be alot happier if there wasnt any tyre smoke
If there was absolutely nothing wrong with this game then GT6 would be extremely boring and not worth buying

BRAVO!!! I concur!

Then it's not cheating. Fake money obviously hurts the economy, and cheating on a test means that intellegence/ability does not decide who goes to better colleges, etc.

Glitching no SS7 just makes GT5 fun. There is no comparison.

While I disagree with glitching and duping and all that. I don't really have anything against those who do it. It's your game, do with it what you like... but.

And yes, there is a "but"...

Where it only offline, I'd have no problem. But when 70 - 80% of the lobbies become SSR7 "Glitching easy $$$" or some such name, it means it's hard as heck to weed through all the crap and find an actual lobby to race in.

It doesn't affect me if other people have more money, and it doesn't really bother me how they got it. But it does affect me when the online portion is literally plugged up with people glitching.

A whole lot of assumptions. And if the level system is supposed to tell you who's good and who isn't, it's utterly useless. Win ratio isn't counted, and there's nothing to stop people from leveling with super overpowered cars, or using seasonals when they were high pay.

Also, how PD intended to play is only that. It's not how people must or should play.

I never said it was perfect, I said there was an IMO obvious intention there, and used properly its not utterly useless. It still does show where someone is at in the game. As well you need to be somewhat decent at the game to win the X1 unless you b-spec it (which yes I agree is dumb but I guess they needed a big incentive) you can't just overpower that challenge nor FGT. They should have had more regulations on some races, thats just a flaw in the game nothing you can do about it.

My point is they put out a product that fits into certain parameters. A lot of people expect it to be something different. Meanwhile there are other games out there that will do what they want and have all the cars they could ever want and more (iRacing, GTR, others... yes on the PC but if you really care then who cares what they are on). I just don't get it. If I need a product to do a certain thing I don't buy one that doesn't and then bitch about it afterwards, I buy what does what I want.

Besides GT5 allowing a level 0 A-Spec to earn the X1, what's stopping this? I've done it. By far, most of my races have been open. It's easier getting a nice, fair open race than it is organizing a large private room.

Yes its stopped now that trading has been blocked, but up until now anyone and everyone had one. The point of the game was it was supposed to be a car few had and they had to earn over time. That is gone now, at least until a predominant number of those who duped it give up on the game.

Likewise, "legit" players don't need to be concerned over exploiters. The value of their achievements rest on their shoulders and no one elses'. They can still earn and do what they want regardless.

My focus is mainly on online play, and the economy of the game, and the rarity of cars. All are/were affected by it. You are missing that it DOES affect everyone, and IMO it would have been more fun if it were like real life, cars were rare, money was limited etc. It could have been like that and thats how it was intended. Unfortunatelynow that is gone.

But just because YOU don't like how it works or YOU feel that people should just get enjoyment resting on their A-Spec laurels, doesn't make it right.
