Well, I decided to do the GT300 class article for this one, but I will save the others in the event that there is a 3rd and 4th issue. Began tonight by ripping around Fuji GT in the RX7 trying to get a decent time. With my barely adequate driving skills, it took me 8 laps to get down in the 1:43:xxx range.:boggled: Not sure how good that is (used stock setup with ABS at 1, TCS at 2, skid recovery on, ASM off and the oversteer aid off). Going to try again tomorrow with everything off. Still have to come up with a title though. Suggestions please!

So when does the first issue come out? Has a decision been made yet?
We've mentioned this a couple of times before, currently we're aiming at February 14th.

And Schwaney, are you missing?
I'm still here :) I'm swapping broadaband provider this week which means I got some serious limited Internet time. :yuck:
However I'm gathering the fresh articles at work and work with them at home. (also the Tuners insight article is done since yesterday)

Wow, seen this thread a few times but just looked in at the examples and WOW really top quality stuff guys! I'd love a copy... but I wanted a print version too! :)

You're free to print yourself an edition once it's published online mate! In fact I'd love to see that happen :)

"You're free to print yourself an edition once it's published online mate!"
1)Print mag
2)Sell for $$$
3)???
4)PROFIT$$$!
:P

Haha no pun intended right? ;)
I'm pretty sure that'd violate the creative commons license pretty bad anyway. (selling the magazine for profit that is)

Well, on a postive note I was able to get the RX7 down in time by nearly 2 seconds. However, I have realized a flaw in my plan. I was not aware that the new Cusco Impreza, unlike the 2003 model, is AWD rather than FR, as I had not driven it until just now. So now I have this predicament and I have decided shift over to simply comparing the GT300 cars. Now my question is: should I focus on only the 4 premiums, or should some or all of the 5 standards be included as well. I am willing to do the leg work for 9 cars, but I want to know if it's too much for one article.

I think the 4 premiums will do just fine.

Ok then, I have the information gathered and lap times run to the best of my ability so I will start puting it into to article format here over the next couple days. Also have to get some snap shots of them in action. Will keep you posted on what progress gets made.👍

It's looking fantastic, the layout is magazine friendly and print quality... at least a copy from a decent personal printer would work.

I'ts high quality stuff like this that adds depth and soul to the product and makes it feel more current/keeps it from aging as it exposes things that are easily over looked or under appreciated... This equals depth...

I'm still working on the comparison, but I can't figure it out how to write it in a good way. Sure, I can compare look, laptimes and speed. But you can't really get a feel of it. Like in a real car. The soul of the car, is just something even GT cant recreate. So i'm thinking about setting it in the freezer till the next magazine and write something about an car review with just one car.

Hi there, just thought I'd pop in and say great work y'all! I am very much looking forward to the first issue. :)

I am a professional geek and I work a lot with mobile technologies so I just thought I'd throw one suggestion or idea out there for some neat interactive content.

http://web.scanlife.com/en

If you create an account (free) You can create barcodes and embed them wherever you like. They can be scanned with blackberries and androids and all sorts of phones even right off the screen of a monitor or tabular device (aka iPad). You can have the barcode link a person to a website. Being that GTPlanet has some pretty fantastic mobile integration, maybe you could create some "additional content" threads with extra pictures, videos, etc., content that couldn't fit and use the barcodes to link people to the threads here on GTPlanet?

Lots of ways it could be implemented if you have the time or see value in it.

It gives you some neat tracking information as well about how many people are scanning, etc..

You could event (if you had the time) do a quiz, kind of random fact with multiple choice answers and have a barcode for each answer. You'd have to scan the barcode you think is correct and be taken to a website with the correct answers.

Just a thought! :) Keep up the good work.

This is a thing I need to give some thought. And also your link seems to be broken.

I'll be quite occupied until Monday, since I'll be working with the issue of the local Metro paper. You can of course still send me your articles though I might not reply as fast as you've gotten used to. :)
Naturally this means I'll take a short pause with the layout of the gt magazine (but most likely I can't help myself and work with it anyway).

I tried applying the same "style" of my article's layout to a wallpaper preview i made

Perhaps I could make some wall's next article

Just wanted to tell you all that I'll be continuing my layout work tonight :)
I haven't got any new material for a couple of days now, I'd be nice to have at least one or two more articles besides those already confirmed. And perhaps not the one car vs another car style of article, since there already are quite a few of these for this first edition of the magazine. Be creative and see if you can come up with anything interesting! There are a lot of great tips in this thread :)

Ok, im done with my NASCAR article. Kind-of. I sent it to my college friend and he said it was too scattered and I jumped around alot. I tried to fit too much in my alloted space. So today im-

Editing & Revising- Nascar Editorial
Final Proofreading- Back through the Future

And Shwaney, I barely recognised you with an avatar

Alright, good stuff!
Haha, yeah I thought I'd spice up my profile a bit and what better way to do that than adding my favorite car as the avatar :)

Also, Im taking a Microsoft Publisher/Adobe Photoshop course atm, maybe soon enough I can be compitent enough to be a part of the editing process

Well it will be a while, InDesign comes next year...

Yes that would be nice indeed, by then I could set you up with some InDesign templates to get things started. MS Publisher isn't anything I'd ever touch though ;)
