VCRC vintage & low power :: Sunday 3pm GMT / 10am US EST

Good racing with a tremendous fightback after being smashed off at the second hairpin on Lap 1. Not stopping and driving hard whilst keeping the oversteer to a bare minimum helped me battle back to 3rd place. If I hadn't been bumped off, I might have been much closer to the front.

Now this was a one-make race. ;)

@GTsail290 was anxious to get use of his car's tow hitch.

(Sorry, couldn't help that one. ;))

I was hoping to avoid it, but could not. So I had a hard contact & damage in the front end.

2014r8gordini08.jpg

But I was determined to carry on, and as it turned out, the damage was even, so mostly it was just a bit of wumble wumble around the sharper turns, but otherwise not too bad.

Was close with @CC570 for a couple of laps, but once he passed me on the straight though, I wound up not being able to keep up.

2014r8gordini10.jpg

Think this is @Naptown25rs making up time having passed me, @daddyo845 , and that could be @AudiMan2011 coming up from behind (upper left). (Hard to tell with everyone in the identical cars!)

@daddyo845 probably could've benefited from some fresh tires at this point. :sly:

@KingKlingeling kind of made the car look oddly effortless :odd:

Nice pics! Yeah at that point I was just done I was doing good at the beginning but once one thing happened I was done and couldn't recover and I kept screwing up. Yeah I think that was the lap before I went into the pits. Lap 15 I think? You got a good shot of that though. I like that shot with me going sideways it almost looked like I was drifting ;). Yeah I had fun today. When I screw up I usually want to do this :banghead:. But I remember that it's just a game and we are all here to have fun and have some good competitive racing. I always enjoy myself even though I don't think I haven't gone a single event without a wipeout this week :grumpy:.

To be honest , this was the longest race I've had in GT , exept the "real" 24h races in older Titels !

And I have to say that this little car turned to one off my all Time favourites , although I just had 2 testlaps because I saw this Event a bit late .

@watermelonpunch I can not thank you enough for Hosting the best online Events I've had in all of my GT "career"
Those Events truly counting to my weekly highlights

Look at this poll about what questions you'd like asked of Taku Imasaki...
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/2-questions-to-taku-imasaki-poll-finished.297046/

The top #1 question is "livery editor".

Which you know is not only wanted by people wanting to custom sticker their race cars, but also by peeps to put boobs & such on their cars, no doubt.

I mean that got more votes than "community features" - which is the biggest thing of interest to me.
(Followed by shuffle and old tracks.)
But I mean of all the things you might be curious about with GT6 upcoming possible updates or DLC... seriously.
I think a loud minority :odd: votes in these polls!

Got to disagree there, I think a livery editor would probably top my list after not having awful looking standard cars. I just wouldn't bother voting because I'm fairly convinced PD has absolutely no interest in doing what the community wants anyway :P.

Yeah but do you seriously think a livery editor is much more important than better community features -- like ways to host private races without adding a bunch of friends to your PSN list? Or everything else on that list?

No. Not really, perhaps I'd put "not getting kicked out of races when my internet connection is fine" at the top of the list though (yeah, I'm still bitter about that).

EDIT: It also happened to two guys on my Rocket race that same day! So I guess it can't just be me.

I agree, Im sure it would be better, for them to look at things here.

Also get some from people, Europe and America contribute, before release.

Well my gripe is that GT5 actually had better options for private racing.
So GT6 is a step down. (You can no longer use club account lounge for example. Or have someone other than the host be the person at the top of the list.)
So that's what I'm wondering.

Sorry about the 2nd hairpin crash.

I was distracted and lost all control of the R8 Gordini under braking.:guilty:

And once I was facing the wrong way on the track, I incurred extensive front and rear damage which made my Gordini completely un-drivable. I think I even lost a side-mirror due to armco impacts. I then parked my Gordini for two laps to let anyone whose race I screwed gain a few laps on me, and look for my missing luggage.:D

I felt pretty bad about the crash because the Gordini is a wonderful motor and I was looking forward to the race, so I was pretty disappointed to have crashed out on lap one.

Still at the garage for repairs...

@watermelonpunch -

It just wasn't my day. I couldn't even view the race afterwards. I had saved the replay but when I tried to view it, the replay crashed my PS3. I had to do a hard re-set to my PS3 since it just locked my PS3 up entirely. I then tried again and the replay locked up my PS3 a second time.:banghead: Another hard re-set to get my PS3 going again. After two tries I gave up and deleted the replay. I'm glad you were able to save the replay so I at least got to see a picture of my errant Gordini on its way to the beach! Any chance you have a picture of me going backwards? Or were the clouds of tire-smoke obscuring the track in all directions?

Ha! The gordini race is one of the FEW replays I was able to load & watch the past few days!!!

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/feedback-on-corrupted-replay-data-◆-s-n-a-i-l-spec-racing.294882/

Just an fyi - if you can't load the replay one day... I've had it where a few days later I can load it.
I have NO idea why, but I swear, it can't be corrupted file, because I've done that a few times now - where couldn't load a replay one day... but a few days later I was able.
For example, the CUBES @ OVALS races... you can see on that thread I got photomodes from all the races.
The day of the race, and for 2 days after, I was NOT able to load/watch 3 out of the 5 race replays. But days later I was able to. :boggled:
very weird problem.

I tested the Biposto a bit, it was an odd gear box with a big jump between 3rd and 4th. If there's any incline when you shift to 4th you might actually lose speed. So I tried to find a few suitable tracks.

Streets of Willow, not too bad.
Rome, ok but gets boring by the end of the straights.
Madrid, not too bad.
Tsukuba, quite fun.

Well if you were to lose speed you could just keep it in third gear. If we are going to have an endurance race, it should be on a track that won't make me lose interest. Rome IMO would get boring if I had to drive it for an hour.

There's too big of a gap between the gears, if you leave it in third you're bouncing off the limiter. I drove it around Deep Forest and going up the hills I basically stopped accelerating in 3rd or lost speed in 4th. I'm not complaining about the car or anything (she's a beauty!), just pointing it out. It's probably good at some other tracks (flatter is better), those were the only ones I tried so far.

Yeah I had ruled out Deep Forest Reverse myself. :ill:
That hill going up to the tunnels.
I had been planning to test it on the Motegi tracks for just that reason.
(NOT Motegi West OMG *snooze* :ill:)

BTW: Rome was quite fun when we did an endurance there in Elans & Spider 66s.
Definitely depends on the handling more than speed, whether or not Rome is exciting I think...

Oh ok. I'm sorry I have never driven the car nor do I even own it. I'm sure I would have known what you were talking about had I driven it before. It's to early to say, but I may not be in that abarth biposto race just due to the sheer cost of the vehicle. It would cost me about half of all my money.

You say this like it is a bad thing. If we aren't careful we might try racing the Carol 360 on Eiger.

I tried Motegi East, it was ok too just forgot to put it on the list.

Oh, I don't mind slow. I just don't like slowing down.

Have you tried the Carol at Eiger?
Yes, there is that one bit where it's kind of slow... but the rest of the track it gets kind of exciting!
I figured drafting might help at the uphill part.
Now if I put the Carol on Eiger Reverse. :ill:  Then I would say yes, call the men in the white coats.

Anyhow... Motegi East not memorable enough to have mentioned it? :indiff:

It's really unfortunate that there are not more flatter tracks.
I mean you don't want to put a slow car on Indy Road Course. :ill:

I really miss having the Toscana Tarmacs!
In GT5 I got a lot of use out of a few tracks that were so great for really really low power cars.
And they really miffed me that the GT4 track Driving Park's Motorland hasn't been included since. That was really fantastic for low power cars!!

I liked the driving park tracks. Beginner course was a lot of fun and. I think the other one was motor land? I liked that one too.

Yeah the Beginner Course too. It was great with the kei cars.

The Motorland track was the one with the hinky off-camber turn before the pit entrance. (Though I can't remember if that was on the reverse maybe?)
If you did the 1-make race in GT4 - in I think the Lupo, you would get messages that the AI Lupos would keep entering the pit by accident, after hitting that off-camber turn at a bad angle. That just cracked me up. It was not a long race, and you'd just see the messages popping up that the AIs were entering the pits. :odd:

I remember having lots of fun there with kei cars & cars like the Eagle Talon, in Family cups.

Pretty much. It seemed like most of the turns were either too fast for 2nd gear or too slow for 3rd gear so exit speeds weren't good. Ended up being frustrating to get around and I quit after 2 or 3 laps. Just my opinion though, others might not be bothered by it but I felt like it took away some of the enjoyment/character of the car.

Anyone remember 'Motor Sports Land' from GT2? I remember there was a glitch where you could leave the track boundaries, i nearly peed myself with excitement when I found that out aged 12.

Yes I've tried the Carol @ eiger (Cue Sammy Hagar . . . I can't drive 55 . . .)

I think the Nordschliefe fits the Abarth pretty well.
