VCRC vintage & low power :: Sunday 3pm GMT / 10am US EST

I got an 18.3 on lap 38 I think. Similarly with the Rocket I ALWAYS lap faster in the wet. Great job with them physics PD, great job đź‘Ť.

It's not entirely wrong. With a small dose of water on the track it loosens the car up just enough to make it rotate into the turn a little better. I felt this on the track, it was wanting to slide out but ended up pointing me in the direction of the turn and then I could power through.

But, just as you would expect in the real world, once you cross a threshold the handling will get worse and once the surface water passed 10% the handling went away and lap times went up. There is only a small window when the handling improves and I would guess this is more pronounced with lower power cars as higher power cars would probably overpower the effect. With lower powered cars you can catch the slide easily and use it to your advantage.

Obviously I'm no expert and could be talking out of my 🤬 but it made sense to me at the time and felt right.

I've gotten disconnected two weeks in a row, do you guys think I should ethernet my PS3 connection rather than going wireless, or is it wonkiness with PSN?

If you can hardware it, do it. Going wireless is never the best option and hardwiring can fix a lot of common connection issues.

Definately ethernet cable , no matter what other says , I have one of the best wlan connection s available in germany and it still lags from time to time !
since I bought a 30meters cable , connection is totally stable .

I totally agree, if (like me) your router is miles away from your Playstation then these are a great option.

I can't stand wireless.

Yep, that's me. I already have a long cable I use for podcasting when employing Skype. I'll give it a go this week. Thanks!

Anyone know if the PS3 will automatically recognize the ethernet cable or will I have to go into Settings?

You'll have to do it manually. And I agree with the others. I've got pretty fast internet (100/10) but wireless still cause problems.

Here are some nice cars I'm thinking about ;)

-bmw 2002 turbo '73 - 387PP ! Gets my vote btw:D

-lotus europa s.2 '68 (premium) - 375PP

-isuzu bellett GT-R '69 - 347PP

All PP without oil change .

@MC-Chase the datsun you mentioned is part of the makeshift shuffle series , so I guess we should use a car were the most of us not used to

Btw: I will definitely use the h pattern and the clutch , I tried a few hours today and I'm still used to it .

edit : my track vote goes to trial mountain fwd:tup:

Madame Melon is a bit under the weather and has had that nefarious Real-Life interfere with racing activities so I'm going to step in as a guest host for the time being. I'll test some cars after work tomorrow but I'll take suggestions on any preferred cars. The 70’s Skylines were mentioned and those happen to be some of my favorites in the game so I'd love to do one (or both) of those if nobody has any objections or better suggestions. I'm open to any recommendations though.

Add me on PSN, BrandonW77.

I've spoken with her and she's asked me to handle things until she's feeling better and her real life calms down a bit. Hopefully nobody has any objections. We'll keep things going as they always do, if I miss something or get a detail wrong please let me know. This seems to be a fairly self-sustaining group so it shouldn't be a problem for us to keep things rolling. đź‘Ť

So......any car suggestions? Do you all think one of the 70's Skylines will suffice or is that too powerful for VCRC fare? You guys (and gal) know the old/slow cars a lot better than I do so I want to be sure to pick something that everyone will enjoy.

I'll be online this evening testing various old cars, if anyone would like to join feel free. Probably around 7 or 8pm EST.

Thread title is Vintage & Low Power, if the Skylines are Vintage, away we go đź‘Ť

Unless @watermelonpunch meant the cars had to be Vintage & Low Power, not Vintage Or Low Power

I'm good with racing a car on a track ;)

I've never been quite sure if it's either/or, or both at once. I usually just show up with the designated car and it seems like they're normally vintage AND slow. I don't think the Skyline is any more powerful than the Ghia though so it should work nicely.

Then the question becomes do we want Ganster ('70 Skyline) or Starsky & Hutch ('73 Skyline)? :dopey:

Is the track going to be Trial Mountain?

Probably not as I kinda hate that track. I don't recall how much gear these cars have so I'm not sure which tracks they'll work on (off the top of my head). I'll do some testing this evening and report back.

Please! Which car and track and tyres?????

Simmer down pal, I'm workin' on it!!! Either the '70 or '73 Skyline on CS tires, not sure which track yet but I'll make a decision this evening and let everyone know as soon as I can.

'70 skyline gets my vote đź‘Ť
deep forest is my track vote đź‘Ť

as promised ,I'll go with clutch and h-pattern this time , so a track without a lot of first gear corners would be really great ;)
looking forward to the race :gtpflag:

'70 Skyline it is then, on CS tires. đź‘Ť Gotta pass on Deep Forest though, one of my least favorite tracks in the game. I'm thinking the Japanese streets of R246 would be a natural fit for a classic Japanese car, providing the car has enough gear for the long straight.

car's fine then đź‘Ťđź‘Ť
but I would love to race on a non city track , where you get punished for your mistakes in the corners with a nice trip in the dirt

Suzuka sounds good. Just did a quick test, the Skyline is about 150 revs short of topping out on the straight. đź‘Ť Lap times for me were around the 2:45 mark, with more to be found I'm sure. So a 20 to 22 lap race?

Also, no 1st gear corners (unless a person really, really botches the hairpin  ) -- in fact, this car is geared quite nicely for Suzuka, in my opinion.

Grand valley? Great choice
I'm out for some practise laps :D

I like Grand valley because last time we were there the long straight gave me enough slipstream to fake being almost as quick as you were King :sly:.

Unfortunately I don't think I'm going to make it this week though!

Has anybody did some practise laps and could post the lap time here ?
I just want to know if I'll be competitive tomorrow in my full manual mode
