hi , as posted above from @BrandonW77 + please confirm you read the 1st post about rules and driving behaviours .
after that , buy the car , change the oil , add some nice rims in standard size , paint the car + rims in a colour you like and then welcome to a very clean club with great people included

Thanks , I did read the rules. I'll send friend requests and grab the car.

I absolutely hate monza but I'll join anyway ,maybe I learn to love this track

edit : I absolutely love laguna seca :D

So, I tried the Alfa at a few other tracks last night but didn't feel any were as fun as Monza, so we're officially going to be in Italy this week. 👍

I also drove the '78 TA at Laguna on CS and it was a fine drive so we will do that for next week. Cool?

yep , I drove and will drive nearly 1000 laps till sunday ! but I'm starting to like this tracks ! IIRC b best offline time so far was 2:32 or something like that . I'm struggling a bit with the braking points and when I have one , I forgot it in the next lap

That is if mrs watermelon isn't up to hosting next week I assume.

She has asked me to handle hosting and car/track selection, probably for at least the next couple weeks. Hope that's ok with everyone.

I've just done a few laps and I think I was in the mid :30's, online.

Yeah the hardest part for me on monza is finding the correct braking point. On the first chicane of the track if I'm racing a fast car I either seem to brake too soon or worse brake way too late and slam into the wall. Hopefully wont be so bad in the Alfa.

Yeah, going thru the first chicane on lap one with the pack all bunched up can be quite a challenge!

Now if we could only get the leader (probably KingKling:D) to knock down all the hay-bales and foam blocks, the rest of us could just smoothly cut the chicane without any damage to our vehicles!

Not cool... I have to work that day.

Throw in something else for the week after the Alfa and do the TA the following week! 💡

This vintage racing really looks interesting
If you would like to join be sure to purchase the selected car of the week which I'm sure @BrandonW77 would gladly tell you about and get an oil change get the proper tires change the rims to custom as long as they are standard size paint the rims and the car and most importantly drive cleanly and of course have fun! Whoo what a mouthful.

just did a 2.30.6xx in an online lobby with the originial vcrc settings . It would be nice if someone else could post some times to compare . I'm practising my butt off , but I'm really , really struggling with this track :D
I'm far away from consistent laps , but 5 days left for practise !
looking forward to sunday :gtpflag:

I simply refuse to believe you struggle anywhere.

I'm lapping monza at around 2:31 in the alfa

Yeah I'm going to say for next week Brandonw77 should host. And then maybe we could alternate weeks or something to take the pressure off.
I'm having the month from hell... that's all I can say without pouring out a litany of various gripes & ailments & bad news. 👎
In a sentence - sometimes Real Life Stinks! (Also: don't get old! Or wait... I guess it's better than the alternative :odd: )

So for now, I'd like to just show up if I can.

Also, @BrandonW77 - send me a pm about what to put in the almighty post #2, with model, tires whatever. Thanks.

I really do hope things get better for you watermelon. You know we all get put to the test and have a period of time where things get hard. I've been there and so have probably everyone else here. There's always an end though and when it's over you can say to yourself "I did it."

Hey,

I found a list of the cars in GT6 somewhere on the Interweb and put together a handy little spreadsheet :)

The first tab is all the cars, there's some GT5 names mixed in with GT6 names, sorry.

The next three tabs are based off the same query, Cars older than 1980 OR less than 400 PP. Each tab is sorted differently, one by Manufacturer, one by Year and one by PP.

Let me know if you think I should change the query parameters (Year and/or Low End PP).

I really really hope that was a lap on low fuel and fresh tyres. :odd: I can't get out of the 2:31's myself, and can't get any consistency. It's the nature of Monza; you make one little mistake in one corner and you lose tons of time. Every single corner is critical.

It's really hard to be aggressive enough in the chicanes without cutting them too much.

But the other nature of Monza is that if you stay close enough to hold on to the draft you can easily erase small mistakes or make up a 1 second difference in lap time. My whole goal Sunday will be just that, don't worry about being aggressive until the end and just focus on keeping touch with the draft the whole race. Probably wait until the last few laps to start positioning myself for a move. 👍

EDIT: As far as the chicanes, if you accidentally get 4 wheels off occasionally I'm not going to throw a fit. Try to keep 2 wheels on the track/kerbs at all times but not at the expense of causing a wreck or ruining your race. 👍
