Vettel Challenge

Nurburgring golded.

Splits:
#1: 0:19.6xx
#2: 0:33.6xx
#3: 0:48.3xx
Lap 1: 1:03.4xx

Lap 2: 1:04.3xx

Just try to nail the 1st lap. It's doable.
Now only 24h Nurburgring and FGT Suzuka B-spec remaining for Gold Standard trophy.

Good job and Congrats!:cheers:

Thats a whole lot of driving.
Those are the settings I use, so looks like I'll be doing 12 days and 6000km.:lol:

My splits are pretty close to yours but I seem to mess it all in the final chicane. DS3 user btw. :guilty:
Also got massive understeer at the exit of Dunlop corner 👎
Going wide in the Mecedes Arena seems to improve my time a bit.

4 seconds missing overall.

In Monza, I'm 1.3 seconds off.

@tbc21
Shift to 1st gear at Dunlop.
Start braking after the red braking area (on driving line) ends and then quickly downshift to 1st gear and start accelerating immedieatly.

As I've said, 1st lap of mine was amazing. Gold-worthy splits are:

#1: 0:19.8xx
#2: 0:34.0xx
#3: 0:48.9xx

That should give you something like 1:03.9xx or 1:04.1xx on lap 1, then you just have to do the same on lap 2.

4 seconds is a lot! I was 2 seconds off at the very start and it took me 6 days and 3000km to shave that off (my first ever lap on Nurburgring was 1:05.xxx, first ever time 2:10.xxx).

Also, thanks teecro! 👍

That's one hell of a first lap. I spent like 4-5 hours working on it this past weekend. I feel like I'm definitely fast enough, just not consistent enough put together two perfect laps. My best first lap is is 1:04.025. My splits are pretty close to yours, but I really struggle with that damn chicane at the end. I somehow managed a best second lap of 1:03.2xx (can barely come within half a second of it now), but unfortunately my first lap on that run was 1:05.2 :ouch:

How do you change the brake balance? Is that something only DFGT users can do?

No, you can do it on a DS3 too. You only need to set up in the "options" your 5 keys for it to be able to adjust it ingame. :sly:

Sweet, I'll have to set that up tonight. The Vettel on Nurburgring and the Grand Tour on Eiger are the last two events I have to gold. I always saw people suggesting to adjust the brake balance and I always thought that was something you needed those dials on the DFGT to do. Thanks!!!!

I did it, with DFGT and it took me a total of 6 hours and I did it, it made my arms hurt do to I had a friend over earlier and I put it on full force feedback and Simulation mode. My problems with that challenge were the starting from the pit lane, and having to turn the traction control off every time.

Using the RA menu you don't have to turn it off every time.
As soon as it starts the first time, don't go anywhere, just adjust the RA menu settings how you want.
Then hit start -> restart.
It will save your settings from there on out.

I managed to gold them with a DS3, took me a long time but i just never gave up on it.
Sort of got annoyed when the glitch was found, people braging they have the X2010 proto and didn't properly earn the right to have it. :grumpy:

People have it that got it before the trade limit got set in, so they got it when they didn't have the "right" to have it also. Can't just hate on the glitch.

At the chicane I braked about 3m from 100m mark.
My biggest problem were the curbs - X2010 looses so much stability when it goes over them.

@Trebor555
Well, as soon as you make something rare - everyone then wants to have it.
And I find Nurburgring harder than Suzuka (curbs).

Yeah if the curbs were flat like on Monza/Suzuka, I would've golded this one hours ago. The way it is, you have to either brake/turn absolutely perfect to get through such a tight window, or hope you don't lose control or too much speed if you hit a curb.

I originally thought Suzuka was way harder since it easily took 2-3 times as long for me to even get to the point where I felt comfortable and really thought I had a chance. Also, on Suzuka, every time I took a break, it would take me like 20-30 minutes to get comfortable again, but on Nurburgring, it only takes me 5 minutes or so to get back to where I was before the break. However, each unsuccessful attempt gets me closer and closer to believing I'll never do it lol.

I couldn't have said it better. 👍

Yesterday was a lucky day. I completed Vettle challenge on nurburgring ;) First time I finished it with time 2:07:721 but my PS3 froze, I was so angry that i decide to completed second time and I finished with time 2:07:953 ... Good luck for ALL .. be patient ;)

I use the D-pad and buttons on my DS3 to drive. Always. Is it impossible to win this challenge using them? Cause I can't even keep the damn thing on the grass to even have a chance of hitting the required times.

I started GT5 over last month.
Yesterday I tried the Vettels, after having them gold on my old save.
Started with Suzuka (cause: hardest).
After one and a half hour: 2'09.873 (2'10.000 is gold) :dopey:
If you get in the flow it is a lot of fun to drive this car...
I even managed to do an opening lap of 1'05.137, which is pretty fast I think.
