Vintage Sports Mixer - * Congrats Audiman2011 & LongbowX *

Some good racing yesterday, another three races of which in the Spitfire (now 6 out of 10 ), which by now is properly run in. In Race 9 I finally got to drive something different than Fairlady or Spitfire, i.e. the Cosmo, and promptly couldn't win against Longbow in the Giulia. Great race though! In yesterday's final race at Mt.TopMore I would have almost made it through the cars lying around on the climb, but then smashed into one, which basically ended my race, because I had to climb the hill from a stand-still with about 30km/h. By the time I got to the top, everyone was gone. Nevertheless managed to get by Longbow basically ON the finishing line to gain the right to race the Giulia in race 11 next week!

It was excellent racing - it also showed how much practicing on 'track creator' courses matter. :ouch: I really didn't get up to speed on those. I didn't hurt too much (except Mt. Topmore, losing by a fraction of a second - but you deserved it, very much so). I will probably review the courses on replay to see where I was going wrong... Great race with the Giulia vs. Cosmo, too. I hope I get to drive more of variety in the future as well! First time in the Giulia and it was quite enjoyable.

Sadly though, I will have to miss next Wednesday as I have something unmovable - but I will complete the Saturday series in its entirety. Shame I have to miss Wednesday's, I was having a good time (although slightly disappointed by my points this week - I felt I actually had performed better in the Spitfire as a whole and won in a non-Fairlady).

And I agree, State Park work does sound quite nice.

Well I don't like this mass exodus from next Wednesday. :grumpy:
OTOH, it could improve my chances for series points positioning. Couldn't help noticing the 2 people who won't make it are currently pretty high in points. :odd:

Anyway, peeps... Planning on starting the Road Classics Mixer probably May 7th...
Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA 1600 '65 is being strongly considered for the car line up. It's currently in the OCD, so I recommend anyone who thinks they might sign up for that at all, to get in that OCD & buy it.
Also, there are a LOT of great vintage cars in the OCD right now. I have no idea why you would not want to buy them all!!!

Yes thanks, and it does suck when work ruins fun time, lol. However the new monies can pay for new toys.

Yea it sucks knowing i'm high in points and have to forfeit next wednesday, but things happen that way. Is there a way where you can work something out to divide up my points amongst everyone equally? If you can do that then I would like to give my points to everyone else.

I might arrive in the lobby about 10 minutes late because I'll be watching British Touring Car qualifying which may cut into the 4pm start time for the event.

:( I wish I could have participated, so I could of at least given street a run for his money. Damn you new job. lol. Good win street.

AudiMan2011 won 3 out of the 4 Toscana Tarmac races. :odd:

Gonna have to rethink having so many toscana tarmac tracks in the line-ups.
Just kidding. I love toscana tarmac. There's 3 in the Road Classics Mixer series:
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=280802
Which I hope everyone will consider, since it's supposed to be the next generation of mixers, building on what we've seen from this & others.

Also, speaking of custom tracks, I'm planning tomorrow to start testing "street feel" custom tracks for the Commuter Traffic Mixer:
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/group.php?do=discuss&group=&discussionid=4671
Anyone's welcome to join me for that, just pop in the VCRC lounge with any of those cars that you have. (Note: 2 are in the premium dealership.)

Looking forward to seeing how Saturday Series plays out. :odd: :nervous: ;)

The last event was good ending for this mixer series. Enjoyed last night's races, though every time I got the Mazda, came last:scared:

Yeah well that last race was pretty exciting in the Cosmo I must say! Tense the entire way. And it was mostly just luck that somehow I drove most of the race in last place, and then managed to gain 2 positions toward the end, with so little track left to lose it. Only because twice (on each lap) snowgt stopped for refreshments at the one tent there at the hard right-hander. :sly:

What's wrong with having an espresso in the Toscana countryside? :sly:

Seriously though, not knowing a track, I'm finding it very difficult to a) look at what's ahead of me on the track, b) look at the track-image to see where the next turn will be going and how sharp it will be, if the corner is blind, and c) looking in the mirror for people behind me. I'm afraid I was like a drunk driver ahead of you the most time in that race. :boggled:

Some great races though and I did get to drive the remaining cars after all!

Two espressos in 2 laps... you must've been really jittery by the end of that race.
 Not knowing the track does tend to make for more activity to engage the mind while racing.
But I don't know how anyone can learn RMC Toscana. It's quite long, and with more hard turning than Nurburgring, with less landmarks as indicators. :scared:
The one thing that helps with having driven that track before a few times... is not that you really know the track, but that you know that the track becomes more difficult as it goes on. The turns get increasingly sharper & closer together.
Other than that, my hat's off to anyone who can memorize it in a reasonable amount of practice.
And how Audiman2011 did so well in the Spider, not knowing the track... Him & his toscana theory.

Pencil me in for Event #3 of the Saturday series. I believe I have untuned versions of all the cars, I will get back to you if I don't.

Racers now gathering in the VCRC lounge. 👍

(Note we've been in there a bit testing for the next series. Road classics.)

I'm so sorry I haven't been able to participate you can have the cars back if you want

I too would like to apologize, my work schedule has been like Bobby Fisher ; countering my every effort to have a Saturday morning. Oh you want to race with watermelon & ace? Check ; worked hard to get ahead of it? Checkmate. Well thank you for hosting a presumably wonderful series, maybe I can do what I say in the future.

Apologies for my unscheduled exit mid-race today; my other half had been in hospital, and arrived home a little earlier than expected. Needless to say, ignoring the knock on the door would have been a "bad thing"...

@ MarkB75 - you'd said you might leave, so I wasn't surprised. Though it looked like you just simply switched off the power strip to everything when that knock came.
Right before that I'd seen you skid in my rear view mirror... funny how that happens when you disconnect the car keeps going for a moment.
(Any rate, hope everything's good. :))

@ everybody with unpredictable schedules:
I well understand that nothing is ever 100%. Hopefully you'll all have an opportunity to race with us again soon. 👍
