RE: My Theory of The secrets of the Spitfire.
1) Doodle got the Spit from the VCRC account, which I believe was NOT a prize car, but which was from the OCD, and already broken in. If he reports that it was a prize car & he didn't even change the oil well then that's scary.
2) GVER has a couple of ill placed hinky off camber turns. The Spit seems to be a little more sensitive to hinky turns than most cars... probably very important to hit just the right line.
3) In watching doodle in the Spit in a test race at Tsukuba & RMC Toscana, I saw his acceleration out of turns was "just right". The one thing that seems to make the Spit slow comparatively is that it gets caught in a time warp in turns... After watching doodle, and then trying again myself, I found that if I was a little more patient on the turns, I got out of them faster. Not sure if I'm explaining that right.
Of course I really think the secret to doing the best one can in the Spitfire is just to never give up. (Doodle never gave up for an instant for example, and kept up quite well in the test races.)
And just wait to gain a position by attrition.
The races are short enough so that if someone in a faster car goes off in the sand, or has a crash into a wall or something, it's quite possible someone in a Spitfire can get around them and make it stick until race finish.
One thing I noticed for example in my test laps... If I had a big mistake in the Spider or Cosmo, I seemed to waste a lot more time recovering, compared to the Speciale or Fairlady.
