Wallbanger's 1st annual million credit FF Summer Shootout!(6/19/11 final 7/17/11)

Can you maybe rename the old thread to make it clear that this one is the actual thread for the challenge?

And what about the Trail/TRD Celica, can it be used? And if yes is, is it any good? VW New Beetle is a Race Car, no?

There are 3 beetles I have seen
The 2.0, the RSR, (street cars) and the cup. (race)
TheTrial and trd celicas are legal according to my reading
(RSR is 4wd I think)

TRD qualifies but I don't think it can handle the competition.

Isn't the Trial Celica almost at 500pp anyway? It would defeat the purpose of the comp to submit something that you haven't had much of an input into, ye/no?

Okay just came across (and bought) the Spoon CIVIC type R (EK) '00. I can now definitely say this car is not eligible for the FF Summer Shootout. It's description clearly states it is a purpose built race car. As I come across other cars in question I'll make similar calls.

The VW New Beetle 2.0 '00 is eligible for use in the shootout. As someone else stated already the RSi version of the New Beetle is 4wd and thus ineligible for the shootout.

Well, I don't know how I will participate, either as a tuner or a driver, but I would really like to know what cars are out of the competition!

Trail Celica is very fast and not on 500 PP stock (430), but it is kind of a race car, the same with the Spoons. Isn't the purpose of tuner cars to build race cars, that are still street legal?

Trial maybe. If it's at 500PP out the box I agree with you. The TRD is nowhere close.

Since I'm not a tuner by any stretch of the imagination, perhaps I shouldn't really weigh into this, but..

I think that to keep it simple for all, if the in-game information for a car says anything about it being a race car, rule 5 of this comp is then breached. No race descriptor in the info means it's free game. 💡

You're saying if I buy a 500pp car, that no matter what I do to it, it's not 'tuning'? If your definition of 'tuning' is 'picking which parts to install' then I'm going to openly disagree.

Oh, god no. That's not what I meant at all.:scared:

I was vaguely remembering this from a few days ago,

I believe in the initial discussions that took place in my garage that tuner cars were permissible as long as the descriptions didn't place them as strictly racing machines. The reason for this is because they limit the amount of modifications a tuner can make to the car and generally have a higher base PP so they are not out of line with the highly modified base model cars. Concept cars were never directly addressed, but again I would say that if it was a concept for a street car and not a racing machine they are permissible.

and trying to put it into terms for the Trial Celica.

Of course the nuances behind suspension and diff etc. changes are most certainly tuning a car.👍 So don't want to offend any of you guys with the brilliant work you do.

As Adrenaline states starting PP is not a factor, since adjusting suspensions, tweaking gearboxes and making other small changes to a cars setup is the definition of tuning! My taking a 63 HP Kei car and slapping a bunch of high performance parts and engine upgrades, so it now makes 209 HP, falls more under the category of hot rodding.
Both are valid processes for gaining improved performance from a car, and for most of these cars it will require a combination of both to be competitive at or near the 500 PP limit set for the FF Summer Shootout.

Tris_73 you are exactly right about the description given of the car being the deciding factor. That is why I said the Spoon CIVIC mentioned above is not eligible. Other Spoon cars (if there are any, I don't know what all specialty/tuner cars are available in game) would either qualify or not based on the cars description.
I know we all want to push the limits as we are all competitive, however application of a little common sense should really be all that's required in most cases.

As Harvey Wallbanger always says...
Drive hard and have fun!:cheers::gtpflag:

Ok then in the german discription of the Trail Celica is nothing mentioned of race/racing, what about the english one? I don't know whether they are exactly the same or not.

Don't know about the Spoon Integra, I'm still waiting for it to show up in my UCD.

It just says it was tuned up to compete with the type R civic or something that had come out at the time for a magazine article. The only thing remotely race related, is that they used lexan windows, and stripped the interior. Which as all the window lightening and weight reduction do anyways. Just makes the car lighter, and increases your PP.

I don't know what the description of the trail cars read as I don't have any currently. As I stated earlier when I find the cars in my UCD I will buy them and most likely make a post here.

I want this to be fun for everyone, and hope we can avoid becoming bogged down over some unfortunate vagaries in the rules. That is why I will try and stress the common sense approach to the matter.

In an effort to get a little more of an eclectic mix into the shootout, here are the FF cars and their stock performance figures sorted by PP. Hopefully this will encourage some to choose something somewhat "outside the box" they might have not known existed.

Notes: There are a few cars absent from the list, but not many. Some stats might be slightly off but still should be close enough for a fair representation of the stock car.

Desert Fox thanks for the list!👍👍

There are a couple you missed but you have most of them there.

Obviously not all of the cars on that list are competitive at 500 PP, but as you can all see there are plenty of alternatives to the Integra (DC5). Hope to see a few more people looking for the odd gems in this group!:sly:

Yup, I was going to just link that as well/instead, but as you yourself have experienced about 28480123 times (your tune database thread), for some reason a lot of people tend to like to see things spelled out for them in the thread(s) rather than following links. Why this is the case is beyond me.

Des- No worries. I was hoping by this point in the shootout someone would have announced their plan to try and make one of the Alfa Romeos competitive, but I think their chubbiness gets in the way.

I think the 147 GTA or the GT 3.2 may be competitive. The 147 TwinSpark is a car for goofs though, it's very lacking in grip and feels absolutely gutless.

Well as a bit of a teaser, I'll be releasing the Outlaw Motorsports Garage - Skunk Works "Dirty Dozen" list in a few hours when I get off work. One of the cars in the Dirty Dozen will be my entrant in the Shootout, and it just so happens there is an Alfa in the Dozen...:sly::crazy:

Last thing before I hit the road again here at work...
Important Announcement
As of this point all tunes currently submitted are locked in and no further changes to them may be made.
Reminder you can announce your car without posting a tune! However, once you submit a tune for the FF Summer Shootout that tune is locked and no changes to the tune will be accepted.

The first page looks awesome. Well put together and well kept. Good Job!!!

I was thinking of dressing it up with a few banners pics and what not. When I get off work I'll put some stuff together.

Anybody else feel free to use your art skillz. Don't know if it will make the OP but it will be cool anyways, hopefully help hold interest until Tune Deadline.

If that's the case, I think it's best if you remove your tune, until it's finished.
Otherwise, drivers may test it, in it's current form. Which you'll be unhappy with and drivers will have to re-do the test.

Ok I will pull my tune out for the time being If its going to upset anyone, sorry for the inconvenience to any testers, (if any).

Uhm...bit late now...and not trying to upset anyone either tuner or tester. But its much easier on all involved if the tune is only submitted once and that version, for better or worse is the one used.

Also Onboy nice job on the listing at the start of the thread. Thanks!:D

So, should I remove the hyperlink for Jackthalad's entry, or just leave it and let him update his post?

Its probably best if you remove it for the time being as the settings have changed to those in the hyperlink, sorry to be a pain, Next time I will only post my tune once it has been fully tested and im hapy with it. Speaking of which, is there anyone out there that would like to give my car a test run, I will put it on share if you send me a FR :D
I am tearing my hair out at the moment because i cant beat my lap time of 2:03.734, I think its my driving but its doing my head in, I need someone who is familiar with this track

Hmm……ask Greycap or Leonidae from MFT to help…I'm not sure if they do testing, but if they do, it should be a good sign of how good/not good your tune is, since they seem to be quite good (understatement?) at GVS .
