Wallbanger's "Tons of Fun"(Final Round Underway)

DaDog, great comments on Group A. I was just comparing our lap times, Monza we have the same order, but London is different:

Seems you got the Jaaaaag to hussle around London 1.2s quicker than me :embarrassed:, putting it ahead of Isabella. And a similar story with the Lexus, where you had it faster than the Legacy. Hmmmm... strange... I was expecting the times to differ between testers but thought the order would be the same. Any thoughts?

Indeed you have a point , now for sure we have different braking / accelaration and turn in spots . One car is easier to drive for a driver then another .
If you look at the difference we have between our viper times you are 1.8 seconds faster then me . i can only say due to the insane bhp i was fighting the car a lot , was it fun ... hell yeah , but fun isn't always fast .
The jag was simple it suited my driving style like it was build on request . The points where i want to break and accelerate where the points where the jag wanted it to . it just felt like it was there .

As for the lexus , i could not manage to get a fast time , this car can go a lot faster , i am sure with a wheel i could get it at least 1.5 sec faster , the reason i drive with a pad and throttle controle is something i manage rather well but sometimes a car is so nervous that the sensitivaty if the pad and the car dont mix . personally i would adjust the LCD , but i am only the testdriver . i am not allowed to set anything ... With the lexus i had one great lap , the one i posted , i got lucky . If this was based on a 3 lap average times would be completely different and i think the jag would be even closer to first

A lot of times people look at laptimes only , i would consider it more important to do average laptimes seeing in a race one great lap doesn't make up for 4 bad laps . however the oppisite is very clear seeing 4 great laps can be ruiend by one bad lap .

before i accepted to drive these cars i was really worried seeing i consider myself a medium driver when i have a top day . looking at some of these times i can fairly say mines aren't as bad as i tought .

^ Cool, congrats on your great Lexus lap. As an example of your consistency statement, I think the Legacy would be faster overall in a race.

Yeah I had the same thoughts about how my lap times would compare to the others. Also, I thought as a DS3 driver, I would be the odd one out. But seems there's plenty of serious tuners out there doing it with their thumbs!

i agree 100% , simple math seeing the legacy is safer to drive , driving a sec slower over a 5 lap race would mean 5 seconds , but the lexus is an accident waiting to happen and driving 5 laps without a spin is an effort on its own and when you spin you lose more then 5 sec.

this has always been my online strategy , slower but steady and safe without silly mistakes and the mayority of the time it pays of very well

So he beat the pants off you with the Jag and the Lexus, but you beat the pants off him with the Viper?

My testing of Group B is complete, to go along with the results already submitted for Groups A and C.

One of the things I love about these events is seeing the differences in peoples preferences. While a few cars seem to be very good for most drivers some swing wildly between being top picks and tail end Charlie's.

Unlike what I expected it doesn't seem to depend as much on whether the test drivers is using a wheel or a controller either.

Seeing how the Drivers Choice categories shake out for each group is going to be very interesting indeed.

Good job by the test drivers so far, keep it up guys.👍👍

Unfortunately I have a bit of bad news here on my end. Afraid because of technical issues (read lousy internet connection) and a family emergency I've fallen behind in my testing and I'm not sure I'll be able to make it up. Will do my best to complete testing but please understand my family comes first. Regardless I'll make sure this Blowout stays on track and runs as smooth as I can make it.

Good luck to everyone and
Remember as Harvey Wallbanger always says...
Drive hard and have fun!:cheers::gtpflag:

I hope everything is okay Desperado . And of course family should ALWAYS come first!!! Be Well 👍

Waiting to hear from hospital now and trying to get at least partial coverage of my route set up for the morning. Not getting any sleep today isn't helping matters any.

Hope everything is ok on your end Desperado...of course real life comes first. Maybe you can extend the deadline here a couple of days if that'll help, I'm sure everyone would be ok with that.

Thanks everyone.
They decided to send mom home from the hospital late last night.👍👍
Will try and get back on my testing schedule today after work if my internet doesn't go down again.

I'm fine with an extended deadline too. Tell your mum to be well and that I love her car! :dopey:

Hey, if you want to make any suggestions go right on ahead. I'm trying to get back into tuning, so I'm still a bit rusty. I've continued testing, and as of yesterday dropped a half a second off of my London times. I still can't get the rear as stable as I would like it which is hurting my times at Monza. Any thing you think would help 👍

I thought the car handled very well overall but for me the major flaw was the very high ACCEL LSD settings and perhaps if you could make first gear tall enough to be usable at London. I know some guys like high LSD settings but it doesn't work for me and my DFGT.

Glad your Mom is home Desperado...gotta be a good sign:tup:👍

Yeah, I lowered it to 25 and it's going around quicker, and it's got very good turn in, and it's helped with the understeer in exit. I would be faster but I still can't nail down that rear end. I'm going to try to even out the ride height and move the ballast around a bit.

Sorry Desperado, I'm just now seeing your stuff. I hope everything goes ok.

My test sheet is done. I think next time I'll pick a smaller group of cars and spend more time on each. Lots of fun so far, and I can't say I disliked any of the tunes in my two groups.

Mom says thank you to everyone for your kind words and prayers.

Doctors weren't sure of what exactly caused her problems yesterday, but are hopeful that it's more along the lines of a flu bug rather than a reaction to the new medicine they gave her last week. She's on a limited diet of rice, toast, bananas and apples for the next couple of days along with plenty of fluids and rest so we'll see how things go.:)

I'm almost finished testing group C and should have results for it posted in a couple hours. Still behind schedule but getting there.👍👍

Glad to hear that! I got everything crossed here for her :embarrassed: and lucky her too! I want toast and bananas...

Very good to hear about your mother 👍.

5: wildheart90's Murcielago ~ I loved this tune in London, but not as impressed at Monza, as it seemed to drift a bit on the fast sweepers.

Thanks for the feedback, I think you were braking too late into the corners which would have caused the drifting.

Testing of Group C completed. Results and mini reviews posted here!👍👍

Must say that Group C wasn't my favorite group to test so far. Not sure how much of my issues with them was the tunes, how much was just the inherent issues with the cars themselves and how much was me and my less than stellar driving.

Hope I don't upset anyone with my mini reviews.:guilty::nervous:

DigitalBaka Ferrari California '08 GT "Solar Flare": Excellent tire wear and handling that stays good even when tires get down to 50% wear. Predictable yet fun to drive. Generally handles the curbs in London well although you can induce oversteer when crossing them by injudicous application of the throttle. Only real drawback is a disappointing lack of speed, expected more zip in acceleration and a higher top speed from a Ferrari. Drivers Choice 4th

DigitalBaka - Ferrari California 08’

Exceptional at London, just point it and it goes there. Another car that lap after lap I pushed and pushed and kept shaving time. Turn in was sharp without being overdone, exit was smooth and fast. Grip was good everywhere. LSD was perfect for me. Tire wear was very good. Nothing to complain about and had the SLR not been in the mix this would have been the winner for sure. 9.75/10

London - 53.606
Monza - 1:42.156

Glad you guys seem to like the car! :sly: It does lack some punch and the full load of ballast probably doesn't help out. MrGrado also mentioned the lack of power. In hindsight I might have gone half ballast keeping it 50/50 to get some extra go out of that prancing pony.

I'm pretty proud of my LSD. It may not be perfect or even very good but it is my first shot trying to tune one. Had an ALSD on my SV for the Indy shootout but it was really just barely tweaked stock numbers. I read a lot from some of the other tuners including Praiano, MCHami's thread and nomis' guide as well so credit ot them for excellent reading material. 👍

I was hoping some of the quicker guys here would be able to get some more out of the car but the times are actually not too far from mine. Perhaps that is just the limit of the tune then. Happy with my results though for sure. Tough group and happy to come in right in the middle of the pack. Thanks for the effort!
