What's the suggested weapon for a vehicle kill?
Tow Missiles or that other type of heavy missle (forgot the name... as I've only used either a couple of times!), binoculars if you have the patience, mines and particularly the flamethrower if you get close enough to them. People in 4x4s usually tend to try and run you over anyway so you get a good chance there with the flamethrower. Even better, if you have mines lob one onto the racing 4x4. It is HILARIOUS, but I usually miss...

With the tank, you're pretty much doomed if you're on foot and it sees you. You have to hide and wait for it to leave if you don't have weapons suitable to destroy it.

I meant for a warhawk. I must suck with TOW missiles as I never seem to be able to hit my target.

I have had the landmine thrown on my jeep before, even though I died it was pretty funny.

@foolkiller, no worries, I was showing my girlfriends brother how to play, but it's always nice to see a familiar fac... er, name in the game so feel free to join if you ever see me. Unfortunately my girlfriend was trying to get a bluetooth adapter to work on our computer and our controllers stopped working so I had to reset the system...:ouch:

I've seen the most astonishing tactic today. A user strapped the mines to a Warhawk and did kamikaze runs on the enemy zone. Unbelievable carnage.

Users seem to like camping a zone all of a sudden, pouncing on unsuspected enemy. Guess what? I'll go camp your main base and see how you like it! I got at least 20 kills, some double, and tons of bouncing grenades off the flag pole into enemy's faces.

I also like to sneak into the enemy base with a ton of mines and start strapping them onto vehicles and warhawks. Works very well.

I picked up this game today (the cheap $40 disk). Wow, the learning curve is very steep. Very, very steep. I wish there was some sort of tutorial mode, some short and easy way to get used to the game.

I just jumped online a few minutes ago. First time online with the new patch. Somehow I didn't rank down but stayed an air marshal.

play a few games and I bet you will rank down, it also may take a while for your rank to change in the upper left corner of the online screen and to be reflected on the customizations page

While an online password game is one idea another way to do it is to setup a LAN game, that way you aren't showing up on the online server list and only someone on your network would be able to get in. So, if you are at home only your PS3 will have access to the game. I used that to learn the basic layouts and controls. More details for specific map settings for specific games I was only able to learn by playing in them.

When I exited my first game my rank didn't change on my home screen, but when I looked at my profile it did. After I logged off and then logged back in it changed on my home screen as well.

So, I just found this page with all the Warhawk ranking stats.
http://www.warhawkstats.com/ranks.php

It seems that once I manage to snag my Warhawk Recruiting ribbon ranking up will just be a matter of points as I have all the required awards up through Sergeant Major. EDIT: I was wrong. I still need Bandit 4x4. I usually get two or three in a round when I am not aiming for a goal, so snagging a full five should be easy.

And I won't be snagging any of that this week because I am lettinga co-worker borrow the game to see if he likes it so that I can convince him to buy it. He said he already has a couple of other friends telling him to buy it.

Wait....shouldn't that count as Warhawk Recruiting?

EDIT 2: He already gave me the game back. He played it for a couple of hours last night, brought it in to me, handed it back and said, "Well, I know what I'll be buying."

Now, where's my recruiting ribbon?

I need to look at names more often. I had no idea FK was in there. All I see is a color and a target.

I see that ND4SPD likes to hide in his missile turret, until it gets blown apart by a Warhawk.

To be honest, that was my first time really trying those things out. Didn't know it was that easy to take people down in them. I like how the health regenerates in them. The first time I hopped in them, I didn't know about the lock on system in them, then I promptly got out. Sorry if that annoyed you I was just test driving them today haha. Also, could someone tell me how the electricity gun works? All I could do with them is shoot a small zap electricity, how do ya'll get that large ball of electricity?

hold down the fire button to get the large ball of electricity, but it uses a whole clip of ammo so you need to have enough

I didn't know health regenerated in turrets...

Thanks.
Ya I found out about the health thing today as well. Don't really use them much until today.

I love flak guns and missile turrets. I just made about 10 or 15 kills in them in that last hour I've been playing. Of course, I died about 30 times, but hey, the only other thing I only halfway suck at is flying!

Of course, while you're in your protective turret, the other guys are getting 40-50 kills.

I need to experiment with the vehicles more. I've only driven a tank once, and in a game of capture the flag I was in earlier my team used those and jeeps heavily to get in and out with the other flag quickly. I mainly protected our base from Warhawks while dudes on the ground shot up the incoming baddies. Just a few games ago I started attacking ground targets from a Warhawk. I wish they'd separate the hover gun control from the flight control. Trying to aim the gun with an inverted axis is insane, and I don't think I'll ever get the hang of it.

I know how you feel. When I first started to learn how to control it, I thought Id never get it down. But I just turned the inverted axis off. Its much easier with standard controls.

Funny game today, I think I shot Scaff down 7 times in a row during a row game.:)

You did indeed. Just my luck, when I finally decide its time to start getting to grips with the Warhawk it has to someone I know shooting me out of the sky.

Still gave me some good practice at evading missile lock and actually flying the things, and I do believe I got my own back a couple of times as well.

👍

Indeed you did,you must have shot me down a good 5 times afterwards. Good games.👍

Heh, there's always something. I have always wondered how to use the boost on a Warhawk, but only figured it out a couple of days ago - press R2 twice. :dunce:

Yeah I figured it out by accident in my first dogfight match.

I figured it out within about 5 minutes. Then I ran into a mountain.

So is there ever going to be another GTP meeteup? We totally need more members than last time though.
