I'm not CFM or Kent (Captain Obvious), but you can't add ballast because it has to be in arcade mode.

You can add weight in arcade mode, hence the -10%/+10% weight change option on the quick tune up screen.

I know, but the base weight of that car is 1080 or something, and full weight brings it to ~ 1240. There not exact numbers, but I have tried it and you can not use that are as far as I know.

ok, made some improvements

T1 29.268
T2 1'04.909

and i finished really well to, i was suprised that i got this time to be honest after only spending a toatal of 2 hours total so far. cos i'm a nice person, here is a complete lap description of how i did it

brake early for first corner, stay in third briefly but hit fourth half a sec later on the exit, to get maximum drive out of corner.

for the right b4 T1, take it in fourth

now, i have no idea how to take this hilly section optimally, but i stay in fourth (the car is maxing out as u go over the hill) and hit fifth as you turn into the inside apex on exit

drift out wide an start turning in, hit sixth before u reach the fast left.

for the hairpin, brake just before the dip in the road, down to second, and then hit third quickly upon exiting, now stay in third as u stick to the apex on the left, tap the brakes and stay in third briefly, but hit fourth soon after b4 u exit the left which leads to T2. the next left is a 'feel corner' as its hard to get the braking right, and its hard to jude when to get on the gas upon exit, but stay in third

for the next right stay in third and accelerate as u hit the inside apex

now, the last **** of a corner is the make or break corner, either u nail it, or u crash out or complete it painfully slow and out of shape

move out as far to the left by hopping the inside curb on the left and turn in, tap the brakes as u pass over the little elevated apex, (putting two wheels on the grass to get a good line into the next left) and then take the next left at half throttle to position the car (or stabalise it) and accelerate out (staying in fifth all the way) hit sixth b4 the fence starts, and ur home and hose. yep, thats it, i know its probably a poor description, but its something at least, catchya later guys, and i hope i was of use

After a few more laps I've lowered my splits

T1: 0'29.974
T2: 1'06.859

@holl01: That 'feel corner' you mentioned...I found a way around that seems to be effective don't know if it'll be of use to you at all, but I start braking just after the T2 split and as the car turns in I tap the hand brake and get on the gas straight away.

I found the handbrake quite useful for a few corners actually, the R390's turn in isn't as spectacular as I'd like but a hit of handbrake seems to solve that 👍

Casio
Just a note, I've found a car that's doing aT1 0:31; T2 1:09, and isn't on that list Luxy just put up.... 💡 .....It's code name from here on is "CASIO'S SPECIAL CAR OF DOOM!"
Better code name than my car...

"SOMEBODY'S DOOMED CAR!" :)

made another massive improvement using a totally different driving technique, and it really helped my lap time significantly, i made a .3 sec improvement

T1 29.180
T2 1'04.770

ok, heres the secret that helped me alot:
dont shift gears at the red zone, shift well b4 that, particularly on the last sweeping left corner- u should hit sixth as u veer into the apex, thats a massive tip, also, do the hilly section in 5th, and the hairpin in third helped alot also. It seems that u get superior exit speed when u shift gears sooner rather than later, well on this car anyway. i hope my tips are of benifit

thats it
cya later

Farout!!!

That's some insane splits holl01, I just ordered a max drive on the net so I look forward to viewing some replays to see how GT is REALLY played :)

Shouldn't you be watching the Origin though holl01? :sly:

thanx, i'm sure u'll have fun with ur maxdrive 👍

I decided to resist on the R390 (It is an awesome vehicle though) and went with a RX-7 Spirit R. HP - 351 Weight - 1257
T1 - 32.241
T2 - 1'11.781

That is my fastest cleanest lap so far. Plenty of time to shave off. :)

wooo, i got my williams f1 wheel! its absolutely amazing! I fear that I may get my first non-top 20 finish this week if i dont get used ot it quickly enough.

Just my 2 cents on wheels and so on. You will see that a guy like holl01 uses the DS2 more than his wheel, and look at his killer times ! I'd say one should not think that a wheel will make you faster ( it might, but you will be able to match your times usually with the DS2 as well ), it just makes the whole "virtual driving" experience much more fun !

@VTEC, congrats dude, glad you finally got it ! Stick with it, I bet you it took most of us with wheels here a few hours, if not days to get up to the times we did with our DS2's, at 1st it feels so weird, cause really these PS2 wheels don't feel ANYTHING like a real cars steering wheel haha. In my A3 I don't feel all the bumps I feel with the DFP haha.

I also read somewhere that there's a worldwide shortage of DFP's ! Amazing ...

I was considering it until my friend (GTFAN2005) got one of these joytech williams wheels and he said it felt exactly the same as a dfp. It has paddle shifters and a stick shifter just like on the dfp but it also has a couple of cool little extras. First of all, you can take off the wheel just like you can in a real f1 car and it has a small screen on it with a stop watch which is pretty cool. It also has a LED display that shows you how much you're accelerating.

Here's a few pics:

It looks really plasticy in that pic but it isnt in rl.

sorry to go off topic

Was it expensive?, cos it loox like it wasnt.

The difference in laptimes and wheel and pad users is this:
With a pad, you tend to drive the roof cam, or chase cam to get the best view/interpretation and idea of where your car is cornering, and hit the apexes everytime.
With a wheel, you cant judge the cars reaction from chase view, roof cam worx to some degree (900? hehehe) but in all fairness, the only way to drive DFP or similar is through the in-car view, or near-bumper-cam.

This view, allows you to see apexes, learn positioning correctly, and feel the car's responses quickly enough to correct them if need be, like if you're gonna spin or something, you can grab it.

However, you cant always judge width accurately, corner speed is deceptive and as a result, you drive at a slower speed round turns to ensure accuracy on the track.

Whenever you replay a run and change to overhead chase cam, you can see how you could have been so much more reckless round turns, if only you'd felt able to be when you were driving from "inside" the car.

This is IMO the difference between pad and DFP, and results in slower times as a norm, and is down to driving view.

NSX Type R concept. :

cushty noises. 👍

I use the pad and I can't get close to an apex with the roof or chase cam 👎 . Which is a bummer, because I never get to see cool things like the SLR's airbrake or Crossfires wing thingy.

Bumper cam all the way!

Couldn't imagine controlling an FR/MR/RR without seeing it on the road, it's all chase cam for me!

New Splits:

CONTROLLER: DS2"
CAR: Nissan R390 GT1 Road Car
T1: 0'30.099
T2: 1'06.647

Gave it a quick blast this afternoon

R390 roadcar

T1 30.993
T2 1,08.111

Loads to improve, other cars to have fun in!

Neil

I going to try to stay under 100,00g cars I feel they apply more to the street car theme so that basically no BENZ Or m3 gtr so I'll stick to Corvettes and SVTs

First run

Car: Dodge Viper GTS
T1: '35.409
T2: 1'20.041

Needless to say, the above was a brake riding trip....

To those of you who have already started to submit times... (1 of you that is)

When I said to keep working at it, surely you could improve your time, I was not saying your time was bad. :D
I was just saying that if you can do ____ in one day of racing, surely there is a chance you will continue to improve over the next 5 days (assuming you keep at it). 👍

So good luck and remember not to worry about your time being too fast or too slow. :sly:

Also, I just want to make sure everyone understands...

400hp max
1250kg min

1249kg not allowed
401hp not allowed

Also, don't forget about the replay screen bumping the hp up 1... that doesn't matter... Use the quick tune screen's hp reading.

However, remember to make sure you are using "HP" and not "BHP" "PS" "KW" etc etc...

Good luck everyone and have fun. :D

Here is my first try:

T1: 29.871
T2: 1'07.503

As you can see I have got the T time quite well, but I'm losing enormous amounts of time in T2. Really wierd I think, since it feels like I'm getting it quite good in that area. Obviously not........... :indiff: But hey, it's just wednesday! :sly:

Kent, good that you made that clear with the replays. Just noticed when I watched my replay for the first time that it stood: "401 hp" Good that that's not a problem. 👍
