Farout!!! Those are some quick times fasj, I've got some new splits myself:

Lap #1
T1: 0'40.866
T2: 1'10.427

Lap #2
T1: 0'32.772
T2: 1'02.361

But I'm still off the pace of the top Div 2'ers. I'm getting quicker, I've seen a 1'10.062 on lap 1 before but that T2 on lap 2 is about as quick as I can get. I might be able to find another 0.5 overall...think I'll give it a rest for a while though.

Had first chance at the combo last nite. Don't have a lot of time lately, and doing some testing for BC5, limits the time to spend on WRS.

Maybe this phenomenon is old news, but I found something that had me scratchin' my head for a while, since I've never noticed it before. First of all, I did a quick check of Luxy's board, wrote down some times then went racin'. VERY bad times the first few runs! LOL! So what to do? Go to time trial and lay down some laps right? Get a feel for the combo, etc. So that's what I did. After about 20 laps or so, I started to get a good feel for brake and turn in points, where to get aggressive where not, etc.

The way I like to try and get fast is to just lay down laps one after the other, and try to repeat them within .2-.4 each lap. So that's what I did. 10 laps at a time in TT. Checking my splits, I thought ok. Very nice. Doing T1's in the 32.0 - .3 range, and T2's in the 1'01.3-.6 range. Very consistent lap to lap. I'm ready to attack the combo.

So I go to single race to do the combo.......NOT even close! I mean I couldn't get within .6 of my time in TT. And most of the time a full second slower per lap! What's going on here? Check all the settings. Yup all the same. Check the replay for cornering speeds. Yup. About the same. But you know what? The car feels just a tad sluggish in the race as compared to TT. How could that be? What would be different between TT and a race in Arcade? Oil changes make no difference, there's no breakin, engine wear, etc. hmmmm.......

So now I am very curious. Like I say, this is probably old news, but maybe some haven't noticed this either. I think I know what it is. If you compare the HUD in TT to single race, I think the answer is right in front of you. LOL! I just didn't know it made that much of a difference!

I would be curious to know what opinions people have on what causes you to go slower in race mode.

Discussion?

I noticed the same behavior too while racing and doing hot laps and the answer is fuel :D

The car weighs more in the race due to a full tank of fuel therefore giving you slower times.

By the way, I am enjoying this combo quite a lot and I think I finally found the AI settings that work the best for my driving style.

I managed a few 40.4xx's at T1-Lap1 and 32.7xx's at T2-Lap2. Still have to find a consistant way of doing the section T1-T2.

Still have quite some time - tomorrow I will reach my goal :sly:

Later.

EXACTLY!!! Very good Wizard. 👍 There is no fuel gage in the TT replays, while the race replay shows a full tank. So I assume the adjustable weight settings should be considered dry weight, not overall weight.

OK Guys and Gals!

Am getting slightly p***ed off at the 'H'ero-worship going on here, I take it that No-One BOTHERED to read post #93, or #97 by Vext,#103 by Circa or many others! They JUST SKIPPED THROUGH THEM, all had good stratagies and tips in them.

If Holl or Hot post a lap run-thro' or a methodology for clearing the field quickly, every-one takes notice and says THANK YOU!

BUT, if 'The ordinary-folk' post a hint or tip, that OBVIOUSLY gives good times, no-body gives a S**T..........Nat,Alpine and myself have been heading the table for 48Hrs !

Hero worship is fine, and no-one (least of all myself) will deny that holl and hot have tallent, skill and are VERY fast! BUT please?????????
:grumpy: :grumpy: :grumpy:
Credit where credit is due!

Neil

yeah no one cares whay I say yet but that is understandable :)

I just figured out that running at +7 with the field on RH works extremely well, I could pass the Spoon S2000 on the outside of the first turn and get by all but two after the first chicane, get in the slipstream of that bigass SUV and get by the lead car in the turn after T1.

On RSS-F, RM-R

also, just having fun at the track in time attack I managed

T1- '32.339

T2- 1'01'.391

and a fast ass T3! :)

I wish this was a one lapper.

I forgot to ask, does anyone here know what Gathers is? I already know I just want to see who the real Honda heads are.

Casio
I just real my first real sit in at this challenge. Got the following

T1: 40.494
T2: 1'09.858
----

T1 32.731
T2: 1'02.902 (I have seen a 1'02.2xx, but I thought it would be fun to see how the car handles in the sand trap on the last corner....)

The good thing is I have cut 3 seconds off my total time since my last short go at it. I think another second and I'll be happy.

Also, I'm still using 210 gears on the principle that someone told me that I was insane to do it. I can't remember who it was, but it's my personal goal to beat you. :mischievous:

I still don't like the car. It's lacking something, it fills so lifeless and inane...

are you still in D3 I though you moved up?

GT_Fan2005
watch your back in division 3 circa:P

im feeling good this week!

you better watch your front! that is where I'll be :)

I turned in my time, a little dissappointed in my second lap but it is still fast. and my first lap was so quick I think i will be ok. I am having so much fun finally getting to drive a civic in the WRS, at on of my favorite places too! THANK YOU KENT! **** THE HATERS! :) they just haven't learned yet.

The Civic part(especially with GRIP!) was cool, but the AI part was VERY crappy... You can't really compare AI settings all that much because it'll change for the same setting, sometimes you'll have some cars, and in one order, and another time, with the same settings, you'll have different cars in a different order sometimes. Anywho, they're F'n annoying and a lot more of this is up to luck than I'd like. Oh well.

Hahaha, I just realized my last time is on the bottom of the leaderboard. Anyway, I'm not going to spend any more than those three hours on this week's race. 2 hours of F'n with the damn AI never got me anywhere, and I just put down my fastest overall time by not even touching the AI settings when you turn the game on. So these were done with the AI set at 0 and the tires hard. With 210 gearing as well because I felt like it, even though I've been driving on 220 all week except for a few excursions into 230.

Lap 1:
T1: 41.382
T2: 1'10.957
Lap 2:
T1: 32.846
T2: 1'02.481

Somehow, I don't know how, but with all of these splits, non of which are fast at all compared to some of my faster ones, provided me with the fastest first lap and created my second lap to be decent enough to knock off a full second from my previous best time that was actually very close to being dirty(could've been).

So F this week's race, final time is being submitted. I can't wait for a race that's good enough to keep me occupied for more than 3 hours, it's been a while... *sigh*

Good luck to everyone else, and don't take offense Kent, but AI sucks IMO.

Put in some more practice and improved my times a bit.

L1:
40.406
1'09.546

L2:
32.675
1'02.144

I've been oscillating between 210 and 220 top speeds - this was done with 210 but I think that 220 has the obvious potential to be faster if you can get the best out of it.

I tried balls' and Holl01's AI suggestion which didn't work for me at first, but this time round I got a bunch of utterly inept AI drivers who I could pass easily before the important entry to the RL before T1, which helped a lot.

Well, despite knowing 220 gearing is better for a few more MPH in some places, I decided to stick with 210 as it seems I am able to carry more speed in the corners. I was using AI +10/RSS at first, but finally got the proper lineup to use AI -10/RSH. For those curious, I have a Lancer 1600 in 5th, mm-R cup car in 4th, VW Lupo Cup Car in 3rd, Lupo GTI in 2nd and Nissan Bluebird in 1st.

L1/2
T1: 40.563 (seen: 40.293. You must come within mm of the Lupo GTI in order to acheive a line for this.)
T2: 1'09.901

L2/2
T1: 32.551
T2: 1'01.982

are you still in D3 I though you moved up?

Nah, I couldn't varify my time. So I'm assuming I'm staying put here...Forever possibly... :indiff:

On a positive note (Well, positive for me) according to Luxys LB, I'm winning D3 again...But only by 0.016 of a second...This could come down to the wire...

I did some laps this morning but couldn't get in the grove. I think I'll just run a few laps later today or tomorrow arvo then submit.

I really do not like this one....

One more thing I forgot. Since I'm now an "Active Member" (Woohoo), can I make my own avatar now? If so, how? Because I've been looking in the 'mygtplanet' thingy and can't find anything...

Looks like we're neck and neck again Z. 👍 I've been using same AI setting, but 220 gearing. (just hate seeing the needle bounce on the straight.) I like getting the faster Bluebird in a race. I seems you pass for P1 at a better place IMO than the slower yellow thingy you get in some races.

Ok. T- times

L1
T1: 40.466 (also seen about a 40.3 flat. SHOCKING shunt followed quickly!)
T2: 1'09.983

L2
T1: 32.421
T2: 1'01.949 (got a 1'01.621 but in a dirty race, and can't duplicate. :indiff: )

Sure you can! I remember when I first hit 1:01.9's and thought that was hard to duplicate. It took a while, but just keep running and before you know it the tenths will start to drop off. I was running splits like that yesterday and tonight I must have been possessed cuz it all came together and I threw this down:

Lap 1
T1 - 40.694
T2 - 1:09.742

Lap 2
T1 - 32.395 👍
T3 - 1:01.415 👍

Putting up mid 1:01's on second lap pretty consistently now. Knocked damn near 0.7 off my old time:D. Key is to try not to push through the left right before T2, just drive easy through there. I'm usually not getting on the gas hard til almost the end of the rumble strip on the right side. Oh and running 220 gears, on RSS, AI at +5 and RSH, full tune, blah blah.... Think I might submit this one, I'm pretty happy with it. Though I know there probably is still another 0.1 or so out there, I'll see how I feel tomorrow about running again. Good luck guys :)!

That's extreme poo. My computer lost a vital file so I wasn't able to access any computer far after last weeks competition! Is there anyway I can send in my time Kent to be added in with last week or am I SOL?

I'll say! Going to be some upsets this week, I imagine. ;)

I can't duplicate my L2 now for some reason. I keep braking too late for the corner immeiately after T1 and the rumble strip either upsets the car and I lose a ton of speed, or I just go off. Maybe I'll just take a break and see what tomorrow holds.

Good luck, folks.

ive had a pretty bad week!
washed my cell phone in the washing machine... it doesnt work anymore...
then the power supply on my computer went *KABLAMO* so the last 2 days no computer
and montoya spins on the last freakin corner!!!

but heres a competitive race i put together...

0'40.289
1'09.285

0'32.412
1'01.349

Puck927
Lap 1
T1 - 40.694
T2 - 1:09.742

Lap 2
T1 - 32.395 👍
T3 - 1:01.415 👍

GOOD LORD! I'd give that lap about 20 tups! Way ta go Puck! 👍 Gonna give the HH bots a run? LOL! Thanx for the slap upside the head also.

You're right. I can do it, and in fact just did! Not gonna post it yet, cause I think I can get a few more tenths on both laps. :mischievous:

hmmmmm been havin' the same problem. 2 things I changed. Not going so deep into the apex rumble, (about a tire width I think?) and I've been letting it coast a little before apex before going back on the gas. It seems to help get the car back in balance for a smoother transition. Not so much tire screech anyway.
That corner was the key for me to start getting T2 down. Hope this helps!

ive had a pretty bad week!
washed my cell phone in the washing machine...

I did the same thing a few months back, luckily it was insured but I felt silly when claiming it :)

man its tough to keep focused... the waiting on the start its really a s#*t!

can´t put my best splits togheter... damn, just stop to write this already made me loose my concentration...

back to the DS2...

:nervous: will i ever get another 1´01´3 and not ruin the end of the lap?

My brother did that a few weeks ago to MY PHONE! :grumpy: And he only had that because a few weeks before that he washed his own phone!

Lucky it was only my old phone...But I could of used that 3210 as a hammer, or some other type of bludgeoning weapon...

I feel a bit better knowing I'm not the only one to have done it :) I see you also worked out how to change your avatar...looks cool 👍

I can't replicate my best time for this task, I can constantly get within 0.5 - 1.0 second from it but no breaking it...I think I'll submit my current time

what a lost evening... 10-15 CONSECUTIVE races making times one second slower than my record... just every race it seems like it was the same thing... i mean, frustrating because i can take a second of my total time... :ouch: :ouch: :ouch:

but i just keep racing the same thing, over and over... :dunce:

its hard when your brain thinks one thing and your hands do another...

still, there´s always sunday to try to get that second that i was hoping for...

every tenth of a second counts... this week it going to be very close... :nervous:

Haha, yeah turns out I had to scroll down on the edit avatar screen....Never thought of that. I knocked that avatar up in ImageReady in about 3 minutes.

I kept getting with .5-1 second of mine in about 6 races in a row. It's so very annoying. I really can't bebothered doing this one anymore, I'll probably just submit the time I got last friday...

Maybe a Rally for next week? (Nudge, Nudge), And we can use the Escort Rally Car (Wink, Wink)?

Just when you think the times can't drop anymore....was running one more hour session to see if I could get that extra 0.1 i thought was there. Turns out I dropped another 0.2!!! Ran a slower first lap by just a hair, but blew my old second lap and final time away.

Lap 1
T1 - 40.843 :yuck:
T2 - 1:09.962 :indiff:

Lap 2
T1 - 32.245 👍👍👍:D
T2 - 1:01.307 👍👍👍:D

This came early in the early going as well. After that it became brain fart city, braking way late, turning in ridiculously early or late, so I gave it up. Probably gonna submit this one. I could try again to get the previous best first lap I had before, but would probably never duplicate the second lap I ran, or go insane trying:crazy:.

new splits finally!!! :dopey: 👍

juast like puck said... when you think you´re done, you are not!

i´m glad i found a confortable way to drive the car, not pushing to hard, its all about momentum...

anyway, i have never been so active on the WRS... this week a had a chance to spend some hours on this thing and it really paid off. i know that besides my new splits, i can still take some time off... and i´m going for!!! it could be my only chance to give some heat to the H Drivers and veilside...

very pleased with the results so far... more to come...

T1: 40´363
T2: 1´09´407
T3: :yuck:

T1: 32´339
T2: 1´01´445
T3: 👎

lets see what happens tonight 👍 👍 👍

I know I must be stupid but I can't for the life of me work out exactly what time I can submit up until?!? I live on the East coast of Australia (Canberra) and as far as I can gather from the site Kent posted, I am 10 hours (maybe 11?!?) ahead of GMT so does that mean the latest I can submit is 3:00am Tuesday morning?!? To help with calculations that is just over 17 hours away from when I posted this. Not that I intend staying up all night but I'm curious to know.
