i have them on +10

take the xsara and impreza after the small chicane onto the straight before T1, take the lancia into the hairpin after T2, follow the impreza down the short straight into the final turn then draft him down the start finish straight, take him into or before turn 1 then drive my own race, closest ive got to the escort at the end is 1.5 seconds.

I have been using AI at +8, I get a Spoon S2000 Race car and one of those landrover monstrosities. With F-RSS and R-RM I can pass all the cars before that left right chicane after going up that slight uphill (the one before the last 2 turns) this is working perfectly for me because I have to make perfect turns to get by without touching and if I don't get by I know I took that corner too slow.

I managed to better my fast lap by 2 tenths too! :)

If I can put my two cents in re torque steer and understeer.

Understeer is when the front end washes out, which is what circa86 is trying to avoid by using harder rears.

I agree with KLR that torque steer is not a good thing, ever. It can cause a high powered FF car to leap all over the road as the front wheels follow irregularities in the surface under power.

But I don't think torque steer is what you guys are feeling, it's the LSD in the front pulling the front wheels under power. So long as the front has grip, the LSD will drive the wheels in the direction they're facing. Once you run out of grip, they slide - understeer.

This behaviour is exactly the same as the Suzuki Swift rally car I once had.

Sorry for sounding like a pompous git :embarrassed:

I think I will have to agree with you. understeer it is, but whatever it is RM for the rear are for the champs :)

Now I know some of u were really worried about me being gone for a couple days, but well I just had to take a little vacation to Lincoln City. And when I came back, all hell broke loose it seems. Kent, man what a tough combo this week. I love a challenge but all those AI cars on all those tight little corners?!?! ARGH! I have my work cut out for me. But after just over an hour of work I have these splits and I can get (realistically) at most anotehr .5 but that looks to be it....*SIGH* Then I have to do 10 laps at the ring for DTM.....that will be FAR TOUGHER. What a week, eh?

Lets see here were at 210, RSS's all around, AI -10 on RSH,

Lap 1
T1 - :40.722
T2 - 1:10.256

Lap 2
T1 - :32.752
T2 - 1:02.198

Final Time - X:XX.XX7....love doing that ;)

Had my very first run today, i see many improvements yet, the word "many" in this week seems like 0.5 or like that. :)

Driving the DFP is being superb nice, im geting well adapted to it and i think im matching some of my DS2 times with it.

Well, had a time, i think i can shave 0.6 of that.

First opening lap

T1 - 0'40.541 - could be a 40.3, or .2, messed here
T2 - 1'09.692
T3 - ???

second lap

T1 - 0'32.379 - had a 32.110 once
T2 - 1'01.588 - lost about 0.2 or 0.3
T3 - ???

Will give it another try today, hope to get those 0.5 left. :)

Um

I'm just uploading my week 13 results right now, sorry to be so late.

I can't do it in the proper thread because it is in archive now.

Doesn't really matter because there's a blue star for some reason next to my name :sly: but here goes

Hey kenny send me your week 14 dude and I'll get it online sometime this week.

Knocked 1.5 off my old time, and I still see about another 0.5 I can get. Splits:

First Lap:
T1 - 40.926 (can get 40.7xx)
T2 - 1:10.105 (saw 1:09's)

Second Lap:
T1 - 35.850 (saw 35.4xx)
T2 - 1:02.101 (had a 1:01.8xx, but forgot to save :ouch: )

Like I said still plenty to improve, was real sloppy in T1 on my second lap and know I lost alot there. Well, time to go back at it!

I finally got a good hour of running in and beat my prelim times by over 4 seconds. I really like this week and enjoy playing around with the different top speeds and ai levels.

T1: 40.872
T2: 1:10.789

T1: 32.895
T2: 1:01.987

If there weren't other cars I could probably be another second faster in the very first sector, but I am trying to be careful not to hit the first car going into the first corner.

That takes me to a question I had: If I am passing an AI car on the inside or outside and hold my line (which would not hit the AI car), but the AI car is trying to hit an apex and hits me is that a breach of the rules?

OK Guys and Gals!

Am getting slightly p***ed off at the 'H'ero-worship going on here, I take it that No-One BOTHERED to read post #93, or #97 by Vext,#103 by Circa or many others! They JUST SKIPPED THROUGH THEM, all had good stratagies and tips in them.

If Holl or Hot post a lap run-thro' or a methodology for clearing the field quickly, every-one takes notice and says THANK YOU!

BUT, if 'The ordinary-folk' post a hint or tip, that OBVIOUSLY gives good times, no-body gives a S**T..........Nat,Alpine and myself have been heading the table for 48Hrs !

Hero worship is fine, and no-one (least of all myself) will deny that holl and hot have tallent, skill and are VERY fast! BUT please?????????

Excellant splits, well done :)

And yes, it would be a breach. No AI contact permitted. 'fin.

@Balls, good point, although I *DO* tend to read every walk through VexD posts ... maybe I don't offer enough public praise, although I do when talking to him directly.

I too read every post and have found Z's contribution most valuable for my driving style this week. I've tried everything people have suggested, AI at -10 sucks for me, top speed of 230 also results in slower times at the moment, I've settled on a variant of Z's method, AI at +9 and RSS with top speed 220 suits me well, I find Z's overtaking method works for this as well 👍

Agreed balls, everyone here has a high level of skill, or else they would just be another gamer. We all have different tips to offer and different specific skills. The skills I bring to the table are different than that of The H Bros. Sometimes we cannot make ourselves drive someone else's way, we have different styles and therefore bring a wider spectrum to offer to everyone else. I'll admit I haven't read each post here, but I do want to thank Luxy and Flat-Out as well as our Administrators for all their work. Piece Owt!

Damn, that's what I thought. I had an awesome lap where I had a perfect line right before T1 but the first car's line ran into me (as I was already passed) and actually pushed me off the track.

Had a little too much tonight, I'll have to put in a couple more hours this weekend and see if I can improve!!!

Here is what i'm talkin about

"QUOTE"
hi,

here is a complete run down of the optimum way to do this particular combo:

-set car to 220km top speed, set AI to -10 and put the ****ers on RSH tires
-draft the 5th car down the straight, pass him and brake really late, down to second, and pass the 4th car on the outside as u exit the 1st corner
-stay on the outside and squeeze through (literally) the 3rd place car, by putting two wheels on the grass
-still in third, go around the 2nd placed car as u use half throttle 4 the right
-change to 4th as u make ur way as far right as u can 4 the next left, turn in using halfish throttle and pass the 1st placed car b4 u reach the chickane
-take the chickane as full throttled as u can, depending on how early u passed the 1st car.

AI is passed

-cross the T1 line (40.2xx-40.4xx)
"END QUOTE"

More or less the same as.......

"QUOTE"
Speed limit set to 220
AI set to -10/RSH tyres

Draft 5th/4th down S/F straight and outbrake 4th INTO 1st corner, exit wide and overtake 3rd JUST after apex of 1st corner, same move out of 2nd corner to pass 2nd place, pass 1st place between 1st left and R/L chicane!

Only braking for the first corner, some slight lift-off to get correct line thro' 1st left but BTTW for the rest of it till the right before the overpass----------- 40.xxx first sector!
"END QUOTE"

Pretty much the same HUH?

Quote 1 was from Holl01 at 7.37am GMT+1 21st july

Guess who got the praise for a good strategy?

It's plain to see that i lost 0.6s in T1-T2( which is AFTER passing the pack) on lap 1 But within 0.02's I maintained the same gap slower to holl as i had at T1 lap 1.

So, my strategy/plan/description, was 'nearly' the same as Holl's, allmost as fast (without the obvious mistake T1-T2 L1, which affected my T2 split L1) overall.

AND I posted it 17 Hrs and 30ish Mins BEFORE he did..............!

BTW ALL!!!!!!

This is NOT an attack on Holl or Hot, or ANY of the faster drivers and I mean that with all my heart!
It's about treating us ALL as equals, and giving praise where praise is due!

We can't all be heroes because somebody has to sit on the curb and clap as they go by.

Completed 2 runs and my final times were separated by .001... All because I messed up lap 2. :ouch:

L1
T1: 40.707 (40.883)
T2: 1'10.047 (1'10.488)
T3: X'XX.053 (X'XX.306)
------------------
L2

T2: 1'02.490 (1'02.430)
T3: X'XX.495 (X'XX.243)

Final: X'XX.548 (X'XX.549)

I feel sorry for the automated T-time thingy (if it's actually being used right now)

Well shoot, I have made absolutely no progress since 1 pm today (its 7:30 pm now) for this week. I am afraid my first hour and a half may be my best, I really can't seem to pull it together. I know I can get another .3 or so, but MAN. This is a real B*TCH! But good for learning FF's in this game that is for sure, thx Kent!

If you feel sorry for the program, feel sorrier for the programmer!
Daft post's like this will not help!

Respect!

As far as I could tell holl01 had one person thank him for his writeup and it was almost immediately after it was done. I also doubt he posts his write ups for any public adoration so I'm not sure why you're so distressed balls?!? I appreciate all who take the time to post tips on here including yours, but I don't see it overly necessary to thank everyone who does it individually? If I use someone's advice I'll thank them for it, isn't that how praise should be given?

hi, bet my time by .35x with a killer opening lap, bet my previous best opening lap by .5 secs!

T1 40.194
T2 1'09.165

T1 32.530 (disgusting)
T2 1'01.622

my second lap was .6 secs off my best lap in practice, so maybe theres some time left, but not much as i'll never do the first lap better than i did it then

although, in T1, i came extremely close to putting three tires on the dirt when turning into the chickane which leads to t1 point. it was a judgment call, i think its ok agter analysing it several times in photomode, but its hard to stop the replay at the exact point in time where u think its dirty. i'll get a picture of it soon.

I managed an hour or two with this last night, still room for improvement though. My problem seems to be the first sector of the first lap.
