Hey Koly, one of two things has happened here:

1. You've gotten really good and I can't keep up with you.

or

2. I'm starting to suck so I can't keep up with you.

I take it that that purple contraption that was built for you is doing you good.

hahahahahah ... I think I was in the zone last night, but also got a little lucky with my line up and just hit it right. Struggling to match the same performance this evening, but not too far off the pace.

I could not live without the "purple contraption", that's for sure :P

first run... not happy with the splits because there isn´t that much of a cushion with the times...

T1: 40´600
T2: 1´10´045

T1: 32´625
T2: 1´02´065

let´s see what happens during the weekend...

What a change from last week. I'm LOVING this car :D and combo. So much fun. First hour session:

Lap1
T1 - 41.127
T2 - 1:10.748

Lap2
T1 - 32.547
T2 - 1:02.075

Was struggling for the first couple of runs until I found a strategy that works for me. Running super softs front and back, no assists, top speed of 220. Saw 40's in T1 for the first lap and a low 32 in the second T1, wasn't clean though.

I have no clue how you ppl can get low 40's for first lap T1. It's a struggle for me even to get a low 41 :) I've tried lots of AI settings (different difficulty, different tires) and absolutely nothing! But then again even on a clear track i can't get a low/mid 32s for T1. Doesn't look like i'm doing too badly inbetween T1 and T2...

Now i just need a miracle or some kind of divine intervention to get that damn T1 right.

Anyone wanna post a quick little T1 walkthrough? (including corner entry speeds of course :) )

Love the circuit, never driven the car, I'm picky when it comes to race cars. There are only about 4 or 5 in the game I'll drive. Eitherway I'm far to busy with life this week to race, I have a mini-triathalon this weekend and need to prepare for that. Not to mention work.

Enjoy everyone and I'll see you next time (or the time after, on the next combo I can get into).

my driving style does not suite this at all
but im gonna give it a go now, finally fixed my dfp

Alpine, have a look at Z's contribution from page 3, his strategy worked pretty well for me, I could hit 40.8 or so fairly consistently at T1 on lap 1, the only problem is overtaking the Xsara at the next right after T1?!? And I also found I couldn't overtake position 2 very cleanly. I'm thinking of trying AI = +10 and Tyres=Racing Softs for the AI. Until now I've had them on Super Softs but they're holding me up at a couple of points.

hi,

here is a complete run down of the optimum way to do this particular combo:

-set car to 220km top speed, set AI to -10 and put the ****ers on RSH tires
-draft the 5th car down the straight, pass him and brake really late, down to second, and pass the 4th car on the outside as u exit the 1st corner
-stay on the outside and squeeze through (literally) the 3rd place car, by putting two wheels on the grass
-still in third, go around the 2nd placed car as u use half throttle 4 the right
-change to 4th as u make ur way as far right as u can 4 the next left, turn in using halfish throttle and pass the 1st placed car b4 u reach the chickane
-take the chickane as full throttled as u can, depending on how early u passed the 1st car.

AI is passed

-cross the T1 line (40.2xx-40.4xx)

now here is a description of a flying lap:
-brake fraction of a second after the last sign on the left, down to third, and take it nice and easy, focussing on exit speed
-hit 4th but shift down to third 4 the quick right (120km/h or therabouts)
-make ur way as far to the right as u can and shift to 4th b4 u start turning in, lift off the throttle momentarily as u take the left, and then its full throttle all the way, try to go over the grass with two wheels to maximise speed through the chickane
-hit 5th and pass the T1 (32.3xx-32.5xx)

-brake well after the last sign on the left, and take this corner in 3rd
-4 the next chickane, brake down to 4th, and take it at 125km/h, and move over to the left, then start turning into the next right, tap the brakes and down to third as u exit the right, then pass T2 (1'01.4xx-1'01.6xx)
-brake late 4 the next left, and take it in third, focussing on exit speed
-4 the last corner, i feel that taking it in second is better than staying in third, although i may be wrong. cornering speed should b 70km/h at its slowest point, hit line at 152-153km/h

after spending two and a half hours this afternoon, i managed this time

T1 40.440
T2 1'09.497

T1 32.321
T2 1'01.430

i still see another half a second left, but i'll wait 3-4 days b4 i try to beat my time again

this has been written by holl01, c u later

Hey Holl, great write up and thanks a bunch for it, although, it's a bit tweaked with some of the AI cars that they sometimes mix you in with. When I was doing it, I'd get around the 5th and 4th guy at the same time doing the late braking for T1, then pass the Lupo car on the right in between there and the second car, then swing around another car in between there and the next turn, and have one more car to get around before(haven't been able to beat him around it yet, but I think it may be possible).

Anyway, I'm just saying it depends on the cars that the computer serves you, sometimes they're faster/slower. With your write-up, was the car that started in first the Nissan Bluebird(510)? With that car I'd get stuck with it through the chicane, so I'd go slower to get a better exit speed out of the chicane and blow by the 510 on the exit of the turn. I'll try and see if I can follow your setup with some other AI cars running against me. Should be doable :). Thanks again for the write-up!

i've only seen two different line ups, and the one i posted was the best for passing a1 cars, as u want to try and pass the first three b4 u take the fast right, anyways, not sure what car it was in 5th, but it looked pretty old and crappy.

i'm sure there is a better way of passing the cars, i'll let someone else work that out :)

from memory, i think my best t1 split is 40.192, i think a 39.xxx is possible with the optimum AI setting

Hmm, yes, I just had another crack at it, and I think you were having the same cars as I. The 5th car is an old Lancer, but yeah, I just switched to SS tires all around(I'm assuming that's what you were using), and it does seem to have better braking. I just got a 40.8 on my first try and did get around the 1st car *right* at the beginning of the chicane. So good deal, SS tires all around for me it'll be. Rock on :)

And yeah, I get around the first two cars in braking for turn 1, then pass the Lupo in between that turn and turn 2 on the inside of it(then whip back outside for a good line around turn 2), proceed to pass the Spoon Fit on the left side of the track, swing wide and cut in again for a good line through turn 3, and then I'm still working out how to get around the Nissan Bluebird in front. Last time I barely made it around it on the inside. If I keep my speed up though I don't think it'll give me much of a problem. 👍

I spoke too soon, because now I can't make it around #1 car before the chicane... *sigh* Maybe after sleeping...

I managed a quick go last night. Car feels good, just getting used to the braking points at the moment. Found AI set to '0' to be the best for me. Unfortunately my splits are no where near what I am looking for, but will put a lot more time in tonight.

Top speed @ 220 with RSS tyres.

Current T times:

T1 0'42.329 👎
T2 1'12.492 👎

T1 0'33.421 👎
T2 1'03.352 👎

P.S. How do I change the tyres for the AI?

Have a good one y'all.

I keep telling myself i'm gonna get back into the WRS but never go through with it. If I have time i'll do a few quali laps tonight 👍

Hi there, to change the type of tyres the AI uses, you select it when you choose your car and the race (1st screen where you can choose tyres), tyres chosen there will then be what the AI uses, then in the race itself, under Quick Tune, you can choose RSS tyres for yourself, so they will stay on whatever you chose in the 1st screen for them. Hope that makes sense 👍

Okey Dokey,

This one is frustrating but I have a strategy that seems to work for me (well I can atleast produce consistent results?!?):

AI= +9
Tyres= RSS (Me and them)
Top Speed=220

I can get past all the cars except position one with relative ease, position one takes some deep braking to pass and seems to cost me on lap 2 a little unless I can get down below 1'10 at T2 on Lap 1. Here are my splits at this stage

Lap #1
T1: 0'40.922
T2: 1'10.725

Lap #2
T1: 0'33.387
T2: 1'03.009

Not brilliant, but I can do within 0.2 of all those splits lap after lap...so hopefully I can knock another 1-2 seconds off before next week.

WOW!!!

the times among top drivers are real close... now i can see... last night i thought the H drivers would be taking 1´5, or 2 seconds of my lap... i was really crazy... so my best clean race so far is still 0´4 (i think) behind kolyana´s time, (you are in very good shape for this week lady...) but, in a three hour session testing everything, i found some interesting notes...

most runs will be destroyed by stupid AI... they seem to hit you everytime you´re fast... :yuck: :yuck: :yuck:

in the end of the night, i start to race with slow CPU cars, and like Holl01 said, it best to get rid of then quickly, or they will become a problem.

what impressed me this morning, was to found out that I HAD A FASTER SPLIT THAN THE H DRIVERS!!! :dopey:  👍

after the first session, here´s what i´ve read...
hot604boi - 1´01´681
holl01 - 1´01´430
fasj6418 - 1´01´341

really didn´t see that one coming... that lap was on a race that my first was crap, so adding the 2 laps made a worst time than my previous... but, if a can put togheter 2 laps like that...

i´m felling pretty better right now... does anyone have a 1´00´xxx split so far?

well, since my time was good, here´s what worked for me...

either -10 with RSH, or +10 with RSS, you either pass then quickly, or run behind then, but fast (in that setup, only pass the escort once, but was dirty).

gears at 230... that was a big plus for me, becouse allowed me to stay in 3rd just after the first turn, until the end of the fast chicanes... you don´t have to quick shift to 4, and then reduce, stay in 3rd...

running fast laps helps you to get a better feel for the car´s limits... really helped me... i still want to have a 31´9 on T1 and a 1´00 on T2, but i will have to wait until friday to race more... 👎

very happy with what i saw, loggin out... good race for you all 👍

ahem.... only discuss T-TIMES.

Please.

And what am i supposed to do with the AI again?

What setting?

I was really surprised to see that the AI setting makes such a huge difference in my times.
With AI setting at +10&SH I was a full 5 seconds faster than with AI set at -10, mainly due to drafting. Thanks for the hint. Though the clean passing is more difficult, and I will have to work on that...

-10 and RSH for the AI worked better...

just saw... and corrected, i was talking about the split, not the lap like i wrote...

Well I'm done for the night, don't know how much more I can extract with my current strategy, splits are now:

Lap #1
T1: 0'40.922
T2: 1'10.530

Lap #2
T1: 33.287
T2: 1'02.763

fasj6418
.. so my best clean race so far is still 0´4 (i think) behind kolyana´s time, (you are in very good shape for this week lady...)

Thanks.

I think a level of luck has played a part, but the car suits my style - well, I have NO 'style' to speak of, except I tend to brake too late and hit corners too aggressively ... with this little baby, she likes that :P

I have also found that I'm doing exactly what h0llo recommended ... and that was a couple of days before his post ... and I had my AI setup differently than everyone else in the beginning, and now they're beginning to swing back my way.

Wherever I finish this week, I'm glad that I got off on a good start and had things set up 'right' ... now, if I could shave off 1 second on the line I'd be a real happy camper ;)

I HATE the AI. Oh my goodness. They ignore the fact that you're there completely. Nothing like racing against people who actually can acknowledge the fact that you're right beside them, or right in front of them. Pathetic. So back to racing the -10 idiots for me...
