hey maybe im retarded but how do you get this car? i guess i dont have it unlocked yet, its not in honda on my arcade mode?

You have to buy it from the honda dealer. It's in new cars, about 3 or 4 from the end. It costs Cr 450,000.....

I know...What a waste....

IMO
Shift gears AT the rev-limiter, well, fractionally before it anyway (for those pedantic souls out there)

Speed limit set to 220
AI set to -10/RSH tyres

Draft 5th/4th down S/F straight and outbrake 4th INTO 1st corner, exit wide and overtake 3rd JUST after apex of 1st corner, same move out of 2nd corner to pass 2nd place, pass 1st place between 1st left and R/L chicane!

Only braking for the first corner, some slight lift-off to get correct line thro' 1st left but BTTW for the rest of it till the right before the overpass----------- 40.xxx first sector!

Hope that helps, tho making a rod for my own back!

Mite have a play with AI settings to facilitate a little drafting later in the race, BUT with these settings i get past them well early and have a clear track to attack for the rest of the race........Don't know!

Luxy
Leaderboard Updated :)

Thanks Luxy! You're the man.

I may be a little OT here...but anyway, I came into a little extra money and placed an order for a DFP. Finally. Been wanting one for 6 months and I finally pulled the trigger on it. I hope it helps me...but expect some SLOW times from me for the first few weeks until I learn how to go fast with the new wheel.

Now I need to build myself a cockpit...time to put that engineering degree to good use!

Initial results after about 1.5 hours...

RSS/220 with AI on RSH +5.

T1 41.254
T2 1'10.914
T1 32.847
T2 1'02.612

Go Koly, Go Koly, (picture me pushing and pulling my fists in and out in front of me in a circular motion, if you get what I'm saying...) Haha.

Uhm, I'll have to try some AI combos again... And TURN THE TIRE WEAR OFF! Lol, thanks for the tip, lol.

Now we need to figure out if it's better to drive the track alone, or draft... Probably going to be draft, but if we can't get into first place, does that matter at all?

Kolyana
AHHAHAHA, that's the first time I've ever been on the top of the pile with one of my splits in bold! Arhhhhhh *basks in the glory*

Good job! If you push just a little bit harder on your first lap you can take the first bold number away from me and make it a clean sweep!! 👍 :D

And I'm trying to figure out where I lost time...you've got me beat by more than a second overall!

ok bare with me here, im supposed to buy this from a dealer then somehow miraculously use it in a 2 lap single race in arcade mode? i didnt think you could use your garage cars in arcade mode... am i missing something?!?

kragbees
True, but my RL car pushes round about 185HP, but I guess it will really start understeering if I push it very hard ... I'm too bloody scared to wreck the thing ... but I agree, my girlfriend's 1.3 litre Toyota handles like a champ ... too little power to even understeer haha.

Sorry not sure where to unlock it, get an Ubersave !

that is not understeer that is torque steer my friend

When you buy something in GT mode, it unlocks the car in Arcade mode, so you can just go to your local Honda dealer in arcade mode and it will be available. :)

Now I had a decent session of going at it... But it appears that what I consider decent is way slow... what the heck? Lol. Maybe I should take it to Time Trial and see how I can go faster... Argh, maybe I should downshift more...

Lap 1:
T1: 41.936
T2: 1'11.451
Lap 2:
T1: 33.355
T2: 1'03.081
Final time: something not fast enough :(

That makes for the T2+T2 time of 2'14.532 according to my cell phone calculations...

EDIT: Oh, and this is with the AI on -10 with SH tires. I found the AI to be too annoying and in my way when I was racing against the faster cars. But I guess that's not really my problem anyway. Or is it? Maybe the faster people are drafting...? Are you guys?

fasj6418
doesn´t really matter if its 210, 220 or 230 the gears... i´m more concerned with the RPM window to shift gears... what you guys think its best?
(last week, RPM window prove to be a major factor on the times...)

This car basically has a stock Civic Type R engine (a B16B) Honda engines when tuned are known to continue to make power the higher they are revved, trust me I know my Honda's very well, (Don't try to out Honda me :) ). So I am shifting at 9000.

My T times will be posted soon and I think you will agree with them.

Oh my I love this combo with a passion! I wonder why :)

Here's my contribution to this week,

I am just running flying laps for now so I have no 2 lap race times,

I use RSS Front Tires, RM Rears (Trust me on this one, I tried using RH which gave a little too much tailhappyness and RS which wasn't quite as neutral as RM)
Look at any FF Circuit race car that is well tuned an you will see that most run wider tires in front and narrower in the rear. this is a proven technique for FF cars.

Gearing is at 230 km/hr seems to work pretty well for me

T1 - 32.435

T2 - 1'01.651

Like I said I love this combo :) (This is the first time I really really really want to win!)

HMMMM!? I am going to have to give this event a try even though I am almost totally against FF with the exception of my CRX SiR (In GT4 of Course. I'm too young to drive a car, though completely able to). I like the track though and I have been driving it a lot lately so I maybe will do good. Be back tommorrow with T times.

That's a fun looking car... :-D

Anywho, about this week's race, when I did single laps, I was using 220 gearing and Soft rears instead of SS. I think I used SS all around on my last race though because I have better braking with SS tires all around and that allows me to get around two cars at the first turn of the race with the AI at -10 on SH tires. Seems like that may not be the way to have the AI set though.

The T times for my fastest lap when I just did a few non-race laps were:
T1: 32.963
T2: 1'02.519(then again Kolyana did 1'02.1xx in a race)
So yeah, you were going pretty good there... And I'm not doing as well as I should be I think. I'll have to experiment with with harder rear tires and my shifting... That also may help out with running against harder AI actually because the braking capabilities will go down a bit and be a better match for the AI cars, and the civic'll be even more able to whip around the corners. We'll see...

Circa86 your civic is so goddamn nice! have you fitted any of your new buddy club parts yet? you gotta post some pics when you do. Civics Fo life!1!!!!1111one

I love drifting, but I'm bad at it and always lose too much speed in the corners. I've set my entire car to RSS ... I need the stability (I like my cars to be fairly tight).

KLR, even at T2: 1'02.519 outside of a race (your time), you're off my pace (outside of a race) ... so I *know* you can run faster.

I am not with you on the RS rear tires shorter braking distance thing, when you break in this car (extremely late and usually turning in) it rotates ridiculously fast and you can get on the throttle immediately. with the RM the car rotates a little quicker under braking and turn in.

also, the majority of the braking power in this car is at the front so the RSS tires and and any rear tires I think the braking distance is about the same.

but no setup is perfect for every driver, just set it up how you like it and drive as fast as you can, you know :)

it isn't about drifting it's about torque steer, less grippy rears let you get on the throttle earlier too with less understeer. I don't drift at all with this setup but any thing harder than RM it is easy to lose the rear end, but not impossible to keep it under control.

No offense or anything, but you're using the wrong terminology... Torque steer is not a good thing, ever. What torque steer is, is when one wheel pulls harder than the other and pulls the steering wheel in your hands. It's an unstable feeling, and is not a good one. I don't know what to call whatever you're describing, but I know what you mean, it just rotates better, there's less weight back there anyway, so you'd think it wouldn't need as much grip. And as you say, Civic racers use skinny rear tires in real life, but shouldn't that be included into this car when they developed it?(who knows) I still agree with using harder tires in the rear for sure, and yeah, there is pretty much no braking help coming from the rear so tire choice wouldn't be as big as I was at first thinking.

Has the issue of AI contact been cleared up yet? Also, does Tire Wear "Any" imply that we can set tire wear as none?

I've updated to include the rules regarding AI contact (which you should all know by now is None!)

Also included rules about tire wear... Any meaning none is allowed.

:D

Sorry for leaving those specifics out, my bad. :guilty:
Now I'm heading off to school for an algebra test. :(

Later.

New splits after adjusting the AI settings.

Lap 1
T1 0:40.711
T2 1:10.341

Lap 2
T1 0:32.879
T2 1:02.776

I'm still being held up by the AI, so I know that there's a faster time to come.

i meant you get less torque steer with the harder rears when going through corners, instead of plowing to the side the back end rotates.

If I can put my two cents in re torque steer and understeer.

Understeer is when the front end washes out, which is what circa86 is trying to avoid by using harder rears.

I agree with KLR that torque steer is not a good thing, ever. It can cause a high powered FF car to leap all over the road as the front wheels follow irregularities in the surface under power.

But I don't think torque steer is what you guys are feeling, it's the LSD in the front pulling the front wheels under power. So long as the front has grip, the LSD will drive the wheels in the direction they're facing. Once you run out of grip, they slide - understeer.

This behaviour is exactly the same as the Suzuki Swift rally car I once had.

Sorry for sounding like a pompous git :embarrassed:

New times

AI +10, RH, 220kph

L1:
T1: 41.003
T2: 1'10.435

L2:
T1: 32.998
T2: 1'02.710

I don't think I'll be able to go much faster than this.

I just took off a good chunk of time at the line with slightly worse splits, so I'm looking for another second off at the end ... I think that's do-able. Not hitting it quite as well as last night, but still fairly happy with the result ... the car seems to suit my style (as does weaving in and out of the AI :P)

Finally got me a good clean run in.

L1
t1- 41.000
t2- 1'10.534

L2
t1- 33.153
t2- 1'03.127

Still a "little" time to find out there, plus still learning the handling of this "great" little FF car. Throttle drifting thru the hairpins is a blast with this thing.

👍 👍 KENT for car choice, track 👍 Not one of my fav's.

Hey Koly, one of two things has happened here:

1. You've gotten really good and I can't keep up with you.

or

2. I'm starting to suck so I can't keep up with you.

I take it that that purple contraption that was built for you is doing you good.

Ugh, how did you guys get into the mid 40s on lap 1?? I'm on pace on lap 2's but L1 is... :grumpy:
