Hmm, too long of a track for a casual time trial in my opinion. I don't think grueling over the full Nurb circuit would be fun to most people compared to a nice shorter circuit. Just my two cents, I think keeping Laguna would be much better than changing to Nurb.

Yeah GP track or keep.

I don't want to ruin it for others, so keep if you want or better still vote!

And just like that I'm down to a 1:27.481. Brakes F:R - 8:5

That´s a good time. To update your time state it as in OP. It will be easier to uppdate the list :)

Driver:xxx
Time: xxx
Transmission:xxx
Controller:xxx
ABS: xxx

As for changing the track, allthough I don´t mind changing it, but it is just a weekly competition. Next week there will be a new one. There will always be some who won´t like the the weekly track/car combo.
Why not just see it as a challenge within the challenge to set a good time :)

We can adjust brake balance?

Driver: Mac K/macospet1
Time: 1:27.456
Controller: Logitech G27
Transmission: Manual
ABS 1
Brake Balance 5/5 (default)

I think we should keep Laguna, I hated last weeks time trial, but I never said anything about wanting to change it..

That's true, lets just keep it now, I can live with it!:)

Yes you can change the break balance. You can do it via the RA menu. Great time Mac K 👍

MP4 12C at GVS on SH

COBRA at Nurburgring on SH

Yeah will try both of those combos tomorrow. Zonda r with RS tyres at norschiefle? Think next week should be nordschielfe or nurburgring gp IMO, but no idea on what car yet

Ronald6
I said it before, I'll say it again: 427 Cobra @ Cote d'Azure.

Hmm sorry for forgetting about that, will definetly have to try that out tomorow!

I'll give this a go during the week. As for next week, the ring would be my obvious vote.

You seem pretty good at the ring, just watched your cobra on CH, must say how impressed I was by your driving  👍

Have had my first crack at this and my time is:

Driver: no1pal
Time: 1:28.831
Transmission: Manual
Controller: DFGT
ABS: 1

I love the nordschleife, but may I suggest a car not too powerful then? or at least a car with easy handling. It´s a very long track and easy to get red timed, even with a car with easy handling.

@OK8: that´s awsome :bowdown:
I´hardly can´t drive that car in a straight line :scared:

Wow nice time! Think I did a 1:28.8 aswell after a few laps, we are pretty evenly matched!

I'll post up a track guide for the seemingly unloved, by this rabble, Mazda Speedway at Laguna Seca.

I'll throw in camber angles and corner Radii - that will make even the most boneheaded Ferrari pilot like it... It used to be much better. Corkscrew is all wide and smooth and in the infield bit is as flat and smooth as Roger Moore's billiard table.

A ribbon of grey asphalt snakes out before you as if some glistening metallic shark has been laid upon the arid land South of Ford Ord, the early afternoon light glinting off its weathered crystalline surface like a celestial laser. This is the kind of terrain the really sorts the men from the boys and today it seems to be all yours.

Half expected this to be a repeat of the old Top Gear test in the humble NSX.
Will you be a Clark or a Clarkson?

Thanks, we are :)
I only did 10 laps, jus to get the feel of the car/track and finding the right braking spots. Going to try a few laps later tonight and see if I can get low 1:28´s or even under it.
I may even try to fiddle with the brake balance to see it makes any difference. I havent´t done it before. Always felt that trying to adjust things makes the car worse . I am not a good tuner

Ryk

Great, I loved the last one you did on Trial Mountain :)

Sorry for the inactivity today! been baby-sitting my 2 year old niece! (more work than you can possibly imagine!)

Just about to go out for some laps, just updating the time-sheet first.

My thoughts on the track is that the 'ring (nordschliefe) is a bit too tricky to get a white lap on as it's so long. I would love it as I love the ring, but I dont think this is a good weekly event to use it in. Just my 2 cents though.

I'd LOVE GVS, amazing track.

With regards to Laguna, it's tricky and certainly not my favourite track, but the aim of these casual events is to help you to improve. If you dont race it, you'll never learn to like it! lol

Haha yeah toddlers are right handful at times! I'm think nurburgring gp or gvs next week how about everyone else? Nordschielfe is a great track but its so damned hard to get a clean and quick lap! PM me nj72 if your want to discuss anything about this weeks event or future events! :D

Aye Aye captain.

Anyways, after a half dozen laps I got the following time:

Driver: NJ72 ~ doc-shipman
Time: 1:26.984
Transmission: MT
ABS: 1
Controller: DS3
Brake Bal: 8/6

Still got an extra half second to fine. Managed a 1:26.7xx but I ran wide on the second to last corner the lap before so it invalidated my next lap. Annoyed lol.

If anyone wants some tips, i'll upload my lap to youtube.

Also, one tip for this particular car is that it comes with a mid-range turbo as stock, not a high range. Therefore the optimal shift is actually at 8000 rpm, not at the red line. You may find yourself securing an extra half a second per lap because of that as after 8000 the power drop is insane.

I'll have to try manual then!

Great time NJ72 👍
I also noticed that you should change gear before the redline.

I´ve manged to cut my time down, despite that somone or something are trying to sabotage me :odd: On this session, the markings before the last corner where scatterd around the track after every lap. And I never touched them on the previeus lap. This happend even when I restarted the lap..

Am I the only one that lives Laguna? I think it's a fantastic track.

Ooo you're way ahead, don't think I can compete with you this week looks like you're gonna pull one back on me! Now its 2/1!!!

Just uploading the replay to youtube now. It's a rather messy lap, but was a clean one as the only off I had was wide on turn 5 which slowed me slightly (you'll see in the replay)

I found that the first hairpin was marginally quicker to slide (again, see replay) as the car naturally stepped out when I came off the brakes. Does snap back a little at times, but nothing that cant be handled. The lap is very much a 'by the seat of my pants' kinda lap, which isnt my usual style, but I love the AEM s2000 for drifting so the 'edge of my pants' bit is more my willpower stopping me from pulling the handbrake... :D
