I use the top 3 gears and only a momentary drop to 3rd for the dirt/tarmac transition. 4th and 5th are used for the majority of the course.

Sorry guys.. still a newbie.

What Xsara car are we using? One from our garage? With whatever mods we want? Or the one in the Arcade Mode's garage??

so confused...

my first week, and it's gotta be Rally eh GoKents??? i spend about 0.05% of my time on dirt, and this car and track combination is killing me. no way i'm gonna be able to live up to my division 1 standing after this week.

wait till we get onto tarmac guys, then you'll feel the fury. ODP's gonna be saying OMG when he see's my time!! hahaha j/k ODP.. don't even know you bro.

peace

p.s. what does "pull a herman" mean???

Herman would be the greatest unknown and unproven racer in the history of the weekly.

He showed up, put in a qualifier time that was right at the top. (think it was second or third place in div 1)

Then came in, made some comments about being the best and not coming back until he achieved perfection... we haven't heard from him since.

Too bad too, I would've liked to have run a few races with him.

Sorry herman, no insult meant, but then again if your hanging around here and not participating, maybe you deserve a little bit of a ringing out. :lol:

It's all good though, now I have you, rickstar, and you, recury, to entertain me. ;)
Just kidding, but I will be looking forward to seeing where you guys place.

Just know this... the guys here are serious. (most of us)
We use x-ports to supply replays and most of the racers doing that are fast... real fast. (x-ports are not necessary.)

Im sure you will get along just fine here.
Don't let this old timer scare you out of this place, it's a great learning experience as well as a great place to prove how good you are.

Enjoy your stay. (both of you.) :D

its so hard to stay consistently fast in a rally race imo. damn unstable road conditions?!!? but miraculously.. i've pulled off
7.8/25.9/45.8 and a good run. i refuse to spend any more time on dirt roads for the sake and well-being of my ps2 and ds2 controller.

no herman here, i'm all business.

where can i find a shark/x port? do they have them at Electronics Boutique in Canada? and how much are they? I remember wanting a 'dex drive' back when i had a psone... do dex drives work too for ps2? cuz i'm thinking that might be cheaper and just as effective.

i was reading some of the posts for this thread... T3 times of 42/43?? jesus!?! i'm ridiculously behind.

i better get back to work.

i'm not big on adjusting toe settings... any tips? i got them at the zero settings right now.

A dex drive will not work with a PS2, and I don't think sharkport is still on the market. But you should be able to find an xport at most coonsumer electronics places, especially those with a good video game section. Or you could google one up on the net. Shouldn't be more than $30 US.

thanks turtle for the info. if i ever win one of these weekly races i'll be sure to purchase an x-port.

i can't believe i've been at this race for 4 hours. at least i've made progress. after some experimental toe settings and gear ratios... 7.7/24.8/44.6

I haven't seen anyone posting 42s, but I figure a 43.0 or a low 43.1 and a pure transition to tarmac should reward you with a new world record. :D

This evening's session was quite revealing.

I have the toe at zero.

Hey rickstar, welcome to the weekly :D you won't have much luck finding a sharkport here in toronto. I looked around for awhile, but nobody even knew what it was. I bought one online (I'm sorry, I don't remember from where). It ended up costing $60-$70 CDN after shipping and exchange and all that. Totally worth it, IMO, you won't be disappointed.

Cut of 4 tenth and now I'm at 44.959.
Still lots of time out there, so I'll devote Sunday and Monday night to Smokey. Saturday are for some much needed beers. :D

After my stanardized first 5 laps of testing; here are my sector times: ;)

T1- 8.235
T2- 26.075
T3- 46.175

I haven't been getting through the first sector too well, but I'm knocking off time between the 2nd sector trap and the 3rd sector trap. :cool:

rrrr. I'm so frustrated this week. I don't know if I've got the car set up horribly wrong, or what, but I'm running 7.8/25.9/45.5, and I can't see where I'm losing 2 seconds on the front runners. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

I'm sure my line isn't perfect, but it's not 2 seconds bad. And I can't for the life of me figure out how to get the car around T1 any faster :confused: :confused: :confused:

If I don't get lapped this week, that'll be enough for me :rolleyes:

~~~~PrOgReSs~~~~
T3 of 44.4, yay. I dont think there is much more time to be gained by me on this one. Isnt this a fun car though?
~pRpgnkjogress~````````
:D Finally getting around to running some Laps here. Many THANX to "Redline Fox":cheers: for providing chassis settings, saved me a bunch of "Tweaking" time!!!
Best Clean times:
T-1 = 7.487
T-2 = 24.533
T-3 = 43.740
Will try to find some more "Lost Time", I just KNOW it's out there somewhere! :lol: :lol: :lol:...UB57 :D
No problem, I've sinced adjusted settings to use ODP's gearing, thanks ODP by the way. And I've done a few more tweaks as well. I'm about with you U on T times, so there may still be some work for to do.
T1 7.671
T2 24.709
T3 43.484
:eek:
dead clean, I checked the lap 10+ times in the analyzer + replay.
I knew there was more in the car! A considerable improvement in my best overall time.
I still think I can hit the final turn 5 or 6 mph faster!
I love this damn car!
OK, I'm done.
7.411/24.950/44.215
Has anyone else had issues where the time in the replay load screen is different than the time in the free run records which is different from the time at the end of the replay itself? Weird. I just picked the one from the records, since I think thats what I remember it being (and its the slowest, so dont get any ideas :) ).
Scuderia229.....you are starting to worry me again.:rolleyes: :)
Do you ever give up?:cool: :mischievous:
I had parked my little Xsara....my crew was happy to just keep the dust off of it everyday, while we relaxed, drank beer, barbecued, and enjoyed the beauty of the Smokey Mountains.
Now, we think we might had to go back out on the track to find a few more tenths.....I refuse to be upset by a Div.II upstart.....No, I'll never live that humiliation down. Us Div. I guys do have our honor to think about.:odd: :mischievous:
:D :D :D
Hiya Recury:
:D And even if someone's already said it: "Welcome to GTP Forums & the "Weekly" Series!"
Yep, the "Replay/Analyzer" times are off by a bit. Not much, but a few 100ths in most cases. You are Correct in posting the time from your "SAVE" screen, NOT the one you see at the end of the Lap played tru the "Replay/Analyzer." 👍 ...UB57 :D
Yeah, and I see some of the A.R.C. boys are starting to show up looking for that easy kill.
There will be no easy kills here today!:irked: :mischievous: ...Happy hunting!
:D :D :D
No I never give up!
I'll drive my little french car(s) until they beg me to stop and/or midnight Tuesday comes.
I don't drink either...hahaha.....
Just race, race and race.
PS - I wanted to signup for the A.R.C but never found a teammate....maybe next time.
