Fell in love once again with my Porsche-powered Beetle.

6-Star Ticket Reward: Ford GT '17.

Quick results before the new week:

Unfortunately didn't had much time to do RA race, so this 2nd place was my best result. RM with Medium Turbo, 2 pitstops. I had a massive spin in the middle of the race that felt like losing a whole lap. FeelsBad

AND SURPRISE! YOU GET A SHAFT, I GET A SHAFT, EVERYONE GETS SHAFTED!

!!! THAT'S 3 SHAFT IN A ROW FROM TICKET PARTS !!!
!!! LET'S GO GAMBLING !!!

at least the car is nice

To me it does not look bugged itself, I think simply @Nakano219 (to whom I give many thanks for this awesome tool, something PD could and should simply implement in game!) has had no chance to manually add the new races, but it is still possible to select manually the events.
Since the randomizer seems still bugged, I had a look into my garage and thought I'd stick with some of my former Special Event cars.
Yeah, sorry, it wasn't a bug - it just slipped my mind last week (and would have this week, thanks @IngWeltschmer for the tag to jog my memory).

It's updated for this week now.

Did the St. Croix race this morning before work to get it out of the way. It was actually pretty great. Not sure I've ever driven this specific layout in VR, but in VR at least it's more fun than I remembered.

A nice spin on lap 6 meant that it came down to the wire. Good time.

Ran the Randomizer for next week while I was at it, had to manually set it up. And here goes
Please forgive me for not knowing this sooner but what is this "Randomizer" and where do I find it and if possible how to use it?

I got these all done earlier this morning. No real challenges this week - normal difficulty.

weekly-challenge-202410w3-r1.jpg

Tokyo Expressway - Honda Fit Hybrid '14 - I initially bought some SS tires on the car, but that put the PP way over the suggested amount. I went with CS tires instead. That left me slightly under the recommended PP, but still easily within reach of the win. First ticket achieved.

weekly-challenge-202410w3-r2.jpg

Grand Valley - Ford Mustang Mach 1 '71 - I upgraded the tires to SS, but didn't make any other changes. I was only able to get a P2 finish. The car has plenty of power, but can't really make use of it on the long straight because the transmission only has 4 gears. It hits the rev limiter, topping out at 190km/h. Still, P2 is enough for the second check mark. Good enough.

weekly-challenge-202410w3-r3.jpg

Grand Valley - BAC Mono '16 - Like the other Mono events, the only upgrade I made to the car was the tires: SS. Easy win. Second ticket achieved.

weekly-challenge-202410w3-r4.jpg

Deep Forest - Nissan R32 GT-R NISMO '90 - I went completely overboard with modifying the car. I thought I remembered these GT-R events needing the car to be right at the PP limit to be competitive. Now that I've done it, I think I was mistaking it for the Silvia series. I got the car up to around 650PP and had no problem blasting through the field. Easy win and fourth check mark.

weekly-challenge-202410w3-r5.jpg

St Croix - Ford GT LM Spec II Test Car - I went with a 4RS-4RS strategy on this. It required some short-shifting to make the fuel last 4 laps. I took fresh tires on the pit. Easy win. Third ticket obtained.

The roulette ticket gave me 500,000 credits, which I'll happily take.

Please forgive me for not knowing this sooner but what is this "Randomizer" and where do I find it and if possible how to use it?
Yeah, I'd like to know what the Randomizer thing is too. However I will resume playing Sunday and knock every single challenge out with a first place finish.

Finally got last week's WC finished. Just the blasted Road Atlanta challenge to get out of the way (there's a reason I'd never completed it previously), and i managed after 4 attempts (that SUCKS).

I to bend over and accept using the apparently-meta LM55. Using RMs I found a good balance between fuel maps, keeping it on 5/6 when cruising and 3 when making overtakes or trying to ditch a tailgater. With a short shifting technique I was able to leave enough in the tank to push in the third stint when required (useful, given that I took a sand bath late on after braking too hard at the uphill left after the esses). Chasing the podium places, I switched to FM 1/2 for the final 2 laps and I ended up more than 5 seconds in front.

Would be a great race of it wasn't for the strange AI behaviour which just can't be ignored. Still enjoyable in these beastly machines.

It's a prime example of eveything that is wrong with "fast car" races in GT. Racing fast prototypes and open wheelers is possible in real life because everyone knows that if you begin fender bending in them someone is going to get hurt - Stefan Bellof and Gilles Villeneuve as the ultimate examples, Allan McNish and Mike Rockenfeller too although they mostly escaped unhurt - but in the game the AI happily side swipes and brake checks everyone to the point in which there's so much smoke and shrapnel in the air ahead that it's hard to see the next corner.

Clear the weekly races today .
For ST Croissant i choose LM55gr1 RH tyres FM6 non stop .
Slow race but even if i drive very carefully didn't get CRB , perhaps some light " touches " made the difference cause i never pass track limits.

As for BAC , i don't want to talk about it since always is been a disaster for me .

The rest two was really enjoyable and I'll repeat them again .

A stock Carrera 73 on SS tyres is a must for GV
IMG_20241018_204124309_HDR.jpg

The GTR race i use the new one but the pleasure was a stock 400R on SS tyres
It's a must try car ,no brutal force but has everything you need to enjoy the race .
IMG_20241018_205324396_HDR.jpg

All races was at normal mod.
Enjoy your runs guys .

Edit
Not forget to mention, 6* ticket gave a clear , solid one million 😍

The BAC Mono can get in the bin. Just the lightest brush from the AI is enough to spin you out.

Don't race it aggressively, it brakes way to much on two corners just drive round it. Wait behind and then drive round.

Don't over drive the car and if you are manual user then use 3rd for most of the exits.

It's quite an easy race just a little longer to get to the front than some.

Not the greatest week given the track selection, especially with how much I dislike the remake of Grand Valley. If there's one thing I could wish for it's a proper remake along with them using the amazing scenery for Highway 1 for a new track. Overdid things for a few races expecting the AI to be quicker, 288 GTO was far too fast for them at Grand Valley, same with the BAC Mono race, SS tyres on default had me in the lead by the 3rd lap although the car is significantly nicer to drive on those. GT-R race was also very easy with a stock 2024 GT-R (please give us back the old last sector of Deep Forest too). Sainte-Croix on the other hand was a bit harder than I thought it would be, AI seems very variable on pace if you restart the race too, one time I had them going multiple seconds a lap quicker. Ended up going with my fully tuned '16 Audi R8, can do 3 laps on fuel map 1 or 4 on map 3 and a very easy win given it would do 2:55's on a flat out lap with no fuel save. Really fun car to drive around there too, has a lot of downforce for a road car at 280/330. I'd still love to see an option of an endurance fuel tank for the road cars so we can get similar fuel mileage as the race cars, just opens up so many more fun opportunities in those races.

Cars for the week:
full

Another decent week. Won the VW VGT which I sold because I already owned one.
Tokyo in the 389pp Copen I used last(?) week or the week before. Close race at the end with the Mazda Atenza.

curious to what the significance of your number 767 is?

At Sainte Croix I used the Audi RS5 DTM on RH, FM6, no stop.

With some slipstream and fuel saving here and there, I managed to cross the line with less than 0,1 lap of fuel in the tank. And a comfortable margin too.

It was my number on my cars when I used to race with the SCCA(like on my avatar). How I picked it is it just popped into my head. lol
And here I was thinking it was some sort of tribute to the wonderful Boeing 767 😅

Anyways I did my challenges today, since I chose to keep this Saturday for myself and stay at home. I needed it.

1) Sunday Cup @ Tokyo Expressway Central Clockwise

Randomizer sent me here with the Demio diesel, and given that the event/track combo feels too much like daily commuting I wanted at least my car to stand out a bit. So, I painted it in the shiny 787B Orange, slapped some nice Advan GTs and as usual, some sports suspensions for that sleek look, and took on my daily commute to work on the local highway. Well, surprisingly fun if you ask me, it was a last corner pass with the Atenza and the Demio was too much fun for the car it is, this shouldn't be happening. Got the first money ticket.

2) Historic Sportscar Masters @ Grand Valley South (R)

I was tasked to take this on with the C2 Corvette, beautiful looking car! But it looks like that 1.49 utterly destroyed it in stock form by making it completely undrivable, so I had to resort to the usual problem solver, Mr. Praiano. Took his 600pp tune, brought it down in power to 580pp, and how things changed! A wonderful driving experience, the stock engine sounds so beautiful that I probably will never ever swap this beauty, eventually managed to win despite a spin outside the tunnel that had me caught back by the Miura. Luckily for me, Serrano thought he was playing CarX Drift and not GT7 so I recovered quickly and won.

3) BAC Mono Special @ Grand Valley Highway 1

Once again, time to race with the Mondeo engine with a shell attached to it. I personally don't really like this car much, as usual it took me quite some time to get used to its brakes and also had to turn on TC at 2 or I just kept spinning, couldn't dose the throttle properly with my poor-spec G29 pedals. After some tries I did manage to get along with the car, and got the win by taking the lead halfway through lap 3. Got the second money ticket.

4) Nissan GT-R Cup @ Deep Forest

Now, I remembered from last time that these races are listed as 700pp but you're way overpowered if you take them on at that level, so I only tuned my R32 GT-R Nismo to around 595pp. Needless to say, it was more than enough to win this race, with an overtake on Ordonez before the tunnel on the penultimate lap. Also managed a CRB, nice race.

5) World Touring Cars 800 @ St. Croissant A

Ah, Croissant once again, an event that I had never done before (and I'm not surprised). For this race the Randomizer had me reunited with a good old friend of mine, the Corvette C7 Gr.3, my first ever car from this class that I used a lot back in the day both to progress and to farm money at Sardegna or Spa. It had been dormant in my garage for too much, and she definitely didn't like that: didn't remember the car being so fierce to drive, she really liked to boit me in the back out of nowhere, it took quite some time to get accustomed to it once again... And Croissant didn't help at all, what a terrible track! Anyways, eventually me and the Vette made up and I started managing to drive her properly again, went for a FM6 RM strategy with one stop for fuel and tires on lap 4 and only managed to overtake Fraga in his new Lexus RC F instead of the usual Supra on lap 7, it turned out to be quite the fun challenge.

6* ticket gave me a million so I won't complain at all.

On my custom cars I use 53 in reference to my time in USMC as a crew chief on the CH-53s back in 1980s, now back to the main topic....

I found the randomizer as a great tool to make the races fun and challenging and ran the cars as chosen.

Ran race stock at FM6 with RH tyres, one stop for petrol and easy win, but with no CRB this time...🚫

Thanks to all that told me about the Randomizer👌

The job is
1. run the race as fast as possible at hard race mode
2. without any contact ( opponents / walls )
3. and get the CRB

Here's what I have after 10 attempts ( enough for the daily marathon ) :D

WC_241004_B1b.jpg

Beat it ! Shouldn't be that hard ...
Time Trial brain cell activated

Single Brain Cell.jpg

I'm fairly sure this also took 10 attempts (or more). I wanted to believe that every corner on BB could be taken at full throttle...

The car said, "Nope. Turn one is sharper than you think. Please stop trying to go through it at 200mph / 320 kph."

FINAL THOUGHTS ON LAST WEEK'S EVENTS (late as usual)
I assumed that I would be spending all my driving time with 550pp Miatas and 600pp Evos. The Road Atlanta Race had other ideas...

1729160182847.png

When I decided that I absolutely must take home a 1st place finish in a turbocharged Jaguar XJ-R9, the AI served me my butt on a plate.

Oh, I got a win eventually, but because I'm vindictive, I wanted to win in the Jaguar consistently.

Wong, in the Peugeot 908, was my nemesis with his perfect mix of pace and endurance.

I settled on a 10/7/8 pit strategy with A LOT of short shifting. Puttering around on FM6 on the first stint while even the back markers blazed off into the distance was... demoralizing. Still, a victory is a victory. And I got my revenge on the second stint.

Road Atlanta - Jaaaag - Results.jpg

The XJ-R9 is now and forever one of my hero cars. Long live the Jaaaag!!!

Road Atlanta - Jaaaag - Action - 1.jpg

Special mentions go to the Renault VGT for being endlessly quirky and to the LM55 being an endurance cheat code. Also, apparently, I'm so terrible at Road Atlanta in the Renault that I'm faster when I can't see the track:

Road Atlanta - Renault - Results.jpg

EVO RACE
Which 600pp Evo did I test and tune for this?

Yes.

I love Evos, and I love this track.

Evo Meeting - 4 - Action - 1.jpg

MIATA RACE
I revisited this race in the 787b swapped Miata TC. 900hp, 2000lbs and not nearly enough downforce. I was pushing for lap times.

My Miata TC felt like an overpowered Elise - and because whenever wheelspin annoys me, I add ballast over the driven wheels, my Miata TC also had the weight distribution of an Elise
