Today was my day for the weeklies and they ended up being fun AND frustrating. These AIs sometimes...
Porsche 356 - Sunday Cup 400
First up was the Alsace Sunday Cup, and I brought the Porsche 356 for the classic vibe, stock on CS tires. Like most old MR/RR cars, it just wants to hang the rear out forever, but that's the fun part. The last tight corner complex is pretty hard to navigate, but you can easily fly past the AI on the uphill crazy corner. As per usual, the AI Megane decided to turn in on me even though I was on the inside on the last corner, because why not?
AE86 - Japanese 550
Next in line was the Japanese 550. I tried this one like, 6 times in an SW20 MR2 and if you breathe on the steering wheel it's trying to oversteer away from you. I need more practice in that thing before it's a viable option. They don't call them widow-makers for nothing! That prompted me to go back to the garage and grab the widebody AE86 turbo I haven't driven in a while. It's a capable car, but it it's current state of tune it's super twitchy and needs some refinement. Still capable of an easy, and awesome looking, win here.
Ford GT - American 700
Now off to Mount Panorama in a Ford GT for the meme race with a pile of incompetent bricks and one troll of a Vette. I wish we could see the specs on these AI cars , because I swear that C8 has 1200hp. My GT is stock power wise, but they aren't slow, and the C8 would absolutely blow my doors off on the straights. I'd like to know how it stayed below 700PP and is that insanely fast in a straight line. I attempted this one a few times for a clean race, but ended up just shoving my way by a couple of them in the end.
SF19 - Super Formula
Last up is the Formula race at the Glen, and these are always some of my favorites. I went RH no-stop and it's a pretty easy win if you're accustomed to getting good performance out of the SF19/23. Passed the leader before he had a chance to pit. Most of the field was on RM and RS, but the SF is fine on hards and I didn't feel like paying that much attention to tire wear. AI presents some slow spots here and there, and will NOT give up their line for anything, so pass carefully! This is one of the few times I've ever used a livery that I didn't create, but this Lucky Strike design is so good!
Now off to hone my times at Maggiore in the Civic.
