Some nice racing with the sf car. I am getting so frustrated with it and how twitchy the steering with a controller is. The AI cars are so fast compared to my pace that I stand no chance even without pitting.

I won the honda sf19. is there any real difference or advantage with one sf car over another?
I haven't found any real difference using the '19 vs the '23, and I only chose the '19 because I have a nice livery for it. I haven't tried this on controller, but even on wheel the inputs are very minimal to take big moves, so it may take a bit of practice to nail down on the sticks... I don't envy your challenge! When I used controller I had an extender on the steering stick which helped a LOT with softening inputs.

Some (a lot of, haha) tips:

The AI is slow in turn one, through the uphill esses, through the bus-stop, the corner after the bus-stop (turn 5), are slow to exit the next few turns (6 and 7), and are slow through the last two turns as well (10 and 11). Take advantage of these opportunities to pass!

IIRC, drop down to third for turn one and be patient using all of the exit curb on the left, power up through the esses choosing lines that will take you around the AI, lightly tap brakes LATE and down to 5th for the BS (eating all the curbs) and stay left in preparation to be flat-out for turn 5's right hander. I didn't always hit it right!

For the following downhill left (6) the apex is late... (all these subsequent late-apex corners have a defined "kink" at their apex, find them!) drop to third and wait for it, then as straight as possible throttle out once you're clear. The next uphill right (7) also takes a lot of patience, and is also late apex, so wait for the kink then smoothly apply throttle (don't get too aggressive) and you should rocket up behind the AI. The next sharp right (8) they always brake super early (brake at the 200 and don't be afraid to rush them on the inside). The following uphill left (9) is probably the trickiest, because its not only another late apex corner, but traction is LOW, so I was overly cautious here. Once again, gentle and smooth on the throttle.

The final two corners (10 and 11) are FAST. Second to last FLAT OUT, and the last corner just about flat, making sure to turn in a little earlier than you might feel like.

There are a lot of people saying you need RM or RS and I don't think that's the case at all because the wear will be tragic if you're pushing, and minding that while under pressure is more likely to lead to mistakes. The SF is plenty fast and planted on RH, and while the wear has an effect, it is much more managable than a set of completely worn softer tires or wasting the time it takes to pit for a new set.

I don't use TCS and play on max difficulty, so this race is entirely doable at all levels!

I think I was running in the 1:26-27s with a clear track, and the lead AIs still took a while to catch up to, so it might be worth it to put in some practice laps and get really familiar with the car and the Glen.

Good luck, you got it! As long as you're having fun with it it's all good.

EDIT: I was way off on my times, I was NOT running 21-22s! They were 1:26/27s... huge difference! Sorry!

Thank you and for the picture and explanation. Im amazed at how fast the ai were through the inner loop. I had been up about 4th on lap 6 when I screwed up through there trying to match their pace and moved back to 20th. I wrote off the race, but decided to stick with it to practice. I got up to 4th on the last lap and was using the last of my overtake. I moved into 3rd place near turn 10-11. I was shocked.

Im glad someone else admits how sensitive these cars are to inputs. I was looking for a way to adjust the input curve since it seemed like I breathed on it and was cutting across the track.

At least i got it done without a wheel. I might revisit it once i get a wheel or adapter to use my g920.

Thank you again as its greatly appreciated.

3rd through turn 1? I’m in 5th on stock gearing. I run more downforce than stock and only have to slightly lift right before corner entry in to the bus stop. No need to downshift. Right back on the power after you get in the bus stop and go flat through the carousel. You may be using a racing transmission with custom gears, though.

Anyway, you are many seconds ahead of me if you are running :21’s and :22’s as I’m only running :25’s so my advise is probably not as quick as yours.

Won the SF race on Easy by 2 seconds and then ran the SF at St Croix to complete the menu book.
Daily marathon 4* ticket gave me...

6* SF menu book ticket gave me...

6* car ticket gave me a duplicate RUF which i sold for 440k. Any of the other 4 cars would have been new to my garage.

Still, I've had worse days on GT7 👍

EDIT: I'm a dumb a**, and got my times WAY wrong... I was running 1:26-7s... I got confused with all the other racing I've been doing recently! Sorry!

I'm using a totally stock SF on hards and no DRS assigned. So I may be slower at the end of the straights with less traction and less downforce. I'm also far from alien fast, so you're probably right in that I could be holding higher gears.

Turn one is tricky for me, and I'm likely too cautious through there, but 4th seems laggy and 3rd just seems to fit my speed through (and with AI around it's even slower) there. I could use 6th through the bus-stop, but a quick hit into 5th allows for more rotation and makes it a tad easier to set up for the full-throttle right hander.

The video is posted a couple pages back if you wanna check it out.

I was going to say. I mean, I’ve golded the CE for this track and the one lap attack in the Master License but am completely baffled how one could run :21’s on hard tires when I can only hit :25 on softs.

Anyway, my big thing when it comes to running these really high downforce cars is to always have a little throttle going at all times, even under braking. Also dont over-brake. Better to be going a bit too fast (and have some throttle going) and just ever so slightly back off the throttle around a turn. You have to keep the speed up at all times to keep the downforce gluing you to the track. You can make some pretty drastic steering corrections mid turn by slightly backing off the throttle so long as you are going fast. And, so long as you have partial throttle at all times, you can get on the throttle pretty strong without spinning up the tires, even with no traction control. Let off the gas completely and you’re asking for trouble when you get back on it.

So as I get further and further into everything in this game... I swapped a GR3 mustang yesterday and went back to redeem my dirty, cheating win at Panorama. I guess I still cheated but it was so much nicer in this car. 😂 If you haven't, I highly highly suggest you buy this car and swap it with the 351 Windsor and fully race tune it. Wow.

Race 5 - used Praiano setup and finished 1st with 6s ahead of second.
Used RM and no pit strategy.
Got Ford GT Gr. 3 from ticket.

SF23

I really wonder. Is there any significant advantage of SF23 va SF19? The AI is seriously on rubber band difficulty. If I can't shorten the gap at the first 3 laps, then there is zero chance of me ever catching up to them. I'm considering switching to SF23 to see if there anything to slightly up my odd for winning.

I prefer the SF19 Toyota. I used a stock tune but gave it about 3/4 downforce (maybe a touch more) both front and rear. RS tires were in great shape when I pitted after lap 6 but I knew they wouldn’t last another 6 laps so I figured pitting after 6 gave me the best tires for the longest amount of time in the race. Couldn’t say the same with the SF23 Honda. That thing ate tires and the front left tire was full red after 5 laps.

Thanks for this, and i just put it in the Shelby GT350R'16, 600lbs lighter, much faster !

I know I'm late to the party with too much going on the past days but finally, here's my choice of cars for this week's races.

Race 1 was a bit business as usual me choosing my Fiat 500 '08. Started way too optimistic though with a car detuned to about 320 PP - the competition simply ran away from me. I added power parts then peu a peu and at about 360 PP the car was quick enough to win the race, taking P1 on the downhill part of lap 3.

Alsace – Teststrecke (rückwärts)_.jpeg
Squeezing past the second place car right before the incline of death.

Chose the same approach for Race 2 with the Integra R '98. At about 540 PP I was able to catch up with the two fast leading cars and win this. I must admit I've been offtrack after T3 more than once ... however ... it's been so much fun being rough and dirty !

Grand Valley – Süd_.jpeg
It's not rally cross, it's avoiding an accident.

I really like that rally cross track, I like narrow twisty demanding tracks in general. However, I second all those of you who say Race 3 is a disaster, for the first lap at least. Used the Toyota 86 Rally Car sitting at about 650 PP for an easy win.

High performance cars on an infamous rally cross track.

Race 4 has been my favorite event this week. I had read about the super fast C8, so I picked up my 700 PP Ford GT '17 as my weapon for Mt. Panorama ... and it was a blast. Passed the C8 at McPhillamy on lap 2 and never saw her again. The GT was capable of 2.03 laps for a total of 10.25 !

Mount Panorama Motor Racing Circuit_.jpeg
Lapping the old Corvette on Conrod Straight.

I've always felt a bit lost with high downforce cars and I'm afraid I will be forever. So Race 5 wasn't exactly enjoyable for me although Watkins Glen turned out to be a great track for such an event. Took me quite a couple of attempts to get up to speed and finally be successful with a no stop strategy on RM tires.

Watkins Glen – Langstrecke_.jpeg
The Toyota SF23 doing the job.

To finish the weekly race report, let me tell you, the 6 star ticket gave me a Bugatti Veyron. That I sold instantly. At an all time high.

Race 1
Golf I GTi, bone stock CM

Race 2
Corolla AE86 @500PP
SH, Mid Range Turbo, full Ultimate parts, wide rims and a little downforce.

The Shigeto variety wasn't eligible (dodgy, btw) so I decided to make my own #amateurtuned version.

Race 3
Peugeot 205 Turbo

Race 4
Viper GTS @700PP
SS, Full Weight Reduction, suspension, full aero parts including Wide Body & Fat rims. Sport Brakes. No power upgrades.

Ate the C8 for breakfast, but only after adding downforce and stopping power. It still demolished my top speed down Conrod.

Race 5
RM-RM
No problems here.

This image shows my slick overtake into the bus stop to take 2nd with Fraga in the foreground.

PS. I love this template for posting Weekly Challenge summaries 😊

There are worst... 6 star and a Porsche ticket that i own allready..... 💩 💩

PD, they do like Brands Hatch and Honda, don't they? And Porsches of course... 😅

The Silvia Sisters event I remember it was somewhat difficult Clubman+ like. It is one of my favorite events in the game.
