OK...so that three of the five races. The parts ticket, as I explained, is a zero for me. The 200k is fine, but that's still probably 20 minutes of time. I'm not really worried about the first 3 races - they are quick and easy and I do often just do those three races.
The total earned is still the same; I included the ticket as you can't get the 332k credits without the free parts ticket. I apologize if I didn't make that clear.
I certainly wouldn't describe any of them as particularly fun...definitely not any sort of "blast." But there's nothing there that makes me go "Wow...that's something I gotta do." If I saw that doing all 5 was going to be a 2 million credit pay day, I'd say "yup, I'm in."
Different folks like different races; zero beef with that. I haven't had the chance to do these races recently so I can't comment on how much fun they are/aren't depending on the car chosen.
The credit thing I'll get to later, because it's interesting and definitely worth talking about.
The amount of credits earned is never an afterthought. I don't have unlimited time to devote to my little car video game. I work full time to earn some real money for food and you know, not freezing to death. I also have family obligations during the week that take up some more time. So, I have limited hours available for GT7.
I'm in a similar boat. Only working overtime when allowed, keeping that roof taken care of and I'm the chef of the house to boot #CastIronSkilletForLife. Family obligations abound. Still have to explain things like "keep the fan on in the shower unless you're going to clean the mildew off the ceiling" between the
"YOU KNOW HOW MUCH HOT WATER COSTS???"
Gran Turismo 7 is a great
stress reliever for me, not a
source of said stress.
I don't need to have ALL the cars, but I would like to get most of the unique cars. And unfortunately most of the really unique cars are also really expensive. So yes, it does come down to a calculation a lot of the time - how can I make the most in the shortest amount of time?
Where you and I differ here is the focus. For you, fun is largely based on how many/which cars you can purchase and - as a direct result - this makes for an accounting equation. Time = money and therefore you want the maximum amount of credits possible when you're able to play.
Question related to the issue of car pursuit: if all cars were unlocked/in your garage, would you still play Gran Turismo 7? Why or why not?
For me, I focus on having fun just from driving. I'll get all the cars in the game eventually; I think there are three I don't have. Due to the fact I'm focused on online racing, online time trials and offline time trials (possibly my favorite of the three) I get full value for my time every instance I'm able to play. Circuit experience and license exams take care of that as well as generating credits.
When I do have all the cars I'll still play as much as I can because simply driving is my focus. Looking at the waterfalls on Deep Forest from my convertible, pacing a flock of geese at Grand Valley Highway when I can.
But others - yourself included - approach it differently.
And there's nothing wrong with that.
