At first I was skeptical that this be done. Those enemy Jimnys are fast on the straight!

I spent nearly an hour trying to win. But I did finally manage it. Are you also on Hard difficulty?

I'll be posting a video for proof in the impossible challenge thread to debunk its impossibility. Will edit the link here when I get to it.

Edit:

Got up motivated after your post to do this right. I'll upload a video at some point but I did it with a CRB. I didn't get the screenshot when it said CRB but look at the math... it works. Hard level.

Accidentally started the WTC700 7-lap race at Bathurst with my 700-PP tuned Porsche 911 GT3. Until at the end of the first lap I saw the message I had fuel left for just over 1 lap 🤔🤭😂

Cancelled the race (even though it might be doable with 3 pitstops since I was flying past the back of the field) but I’ll play it safe and redo it properly with my 700-PP Castrol Tom Supra 😎
I did exactly the same, regret came very soon after 1st lap.
Will need to try again as well.

I'm keeping it short this week as races have been pretty much straight forward to me, even a bit boring partially.

Here's the cars I used :

Race 1 - Jimny, full stock ... win
Race 2 - Model 3, full stock ... easy win
Race 3 - Roadster Touring Car, 600 PP ... hard win
Race 4 - Lambo VGT, 835 PP ... easy win
Race 5 - GR Supra Race Car, 695 PP ... easy win

Best race was Tokyo as it's been a hell of a hunt with the Mazda Roadster. :D

Now that things like engine swaps and special parts are available for purchase (if you are collector level 50), why can’t we sell these items? If I already have a maxed out Bugatti Veyron and get a Stage 5 weight reduction in a special parts ticket, I have 300k credits just sitting there that I can’t use unless I buy another Veyron, which would require the invite and millions of additional credits to buy the car. Then I spend another 200k buying the Stage 1-4 weight reduction to use my Stage 5 ticket, go to the used dealership to sell my Veyron with all my weight reduction and get a fraction of all the money spent and never actually get ANY value for the Stage 5 part.

That would be a nice thing for PD to add in a soon to be released update, but will likely never happen.

You do not need to purchase WR1-4 to install WR5. You could save that 200k.

Prizes should all be cash. I can decide what I want to buy. And they should be at minimum 1.5 million credits. They need to at least make it pay better than the grind races. It's not like there's anything remarkable about these events...they're basically just more of the same.
At the very least, it should be an engine ticket. Even though they're can be purchased now, some are very expensive. But all cash would be good.

Yeah I just don't see why there's any particular need or reason to do anything other than cash. Parts and engines are only worth anything to people who use them. I don't have any interest at all in that aspect of the game...and I don't think I'm alone in that regard. So rewarding with parts and engine tickets is guaranteed to disappoint a segment of the players. Money works for everyone. Of course the parts/engines need to be available to purchase just like the cars (mostly) are.

That applies to any reward, as displayed by multiple comments on this forum. Cash? Not enough. Car tickets? Not the car(s) wanted. Car invites? Already have the car/not the desired invite.

I for one am looking forward to the updated challenges. Perhaps I'll get a part I'll immediately use . . . perhaps not. Either way, it should be fun!

sure, like I said the cash needs to be enough to make it worthwhile. 700k plus a part isn't doing it.

But it's never enough.

The award could be 5 million credits and people would still complain. "Why is it only one award?" "This should be for any race!" "Five million is a start . . . but it should be twenty!"

That's the issue. No matter what it is, it's never enough. People will be disappointed and complain about free credits, free parts or whatever free item comes from PD.

If for whatever reason you don't believe me, check out any update thread for confirmation.

fine, but the point is there's a set of races in the game that can be run over and over again for an amount around 1.5 million credits per hour. So if you're going to do a weekly challenge series of events, why not make it so that it rewards at a rate at least as high. It generally takes about an hour at least to do the weekly races. Why the need to cheap out and have prizes under a million? Is PD short of fake money credits to hand out?

You're proving my point.

Ten total laps for 332,000 credits (not including a clean race bonus) and a 6-star parts ticket is being cheap in your view.
  • Japanese 450 (no PP limit) 2 laps: 7,000 credits.
  • Silvia Sisters (no PP limit) 3 laps: 35,000
  • American Clubman Cup (no PP limit) 5 laps: 90,000 credits.
  • Reward for completing 1 event: 1 6-star ticket.
  • Reward for completing 3 events: 200,000 credits.
Hopefully these events are a blast to enjoy, and you have so much fun doing them that the amount of credits earned is an afterthought.

Each player will have a personal experience.

Hopefully you won't find this week's challenges disappointing.

OK...so that three of the five races. The parts ticket, as I explained, is a zero for me. The 200k is fine, but that's still probably 20 minutes of time. I'm not really worried about the first 3 races - they are quick and easy and I do often just do those three races. I certainly wouldn't describe any of them as particularly fun...definitely not any sort of "blast." But there's nothing there that makes me go "Wow...that's something I gotta do." If I saw that doing all 5 was going to be a 2 million credit pay day, I'd say "yup, I'm in."

The amount of credits earned is never an afterthought. I don't have unlimited time to devote to my little car video game. I work full time to earn some real money for food and you know, not freezing to death. I also have family obligations during the week that take up some more time. So, I have limited hours available for GT7. I don't need to have ALL the cars, but I would like to get most of the unique cars. And unfortunately most of the really unique cars are also really expensive. So yes, it does come down to a calculation a lot of the time - how can I make the most in the shortest amount of time?

The total earned is still the same; I included the ticket as you can't get the 332k credits without the free parts ticket. I apologize if I didn't make that clear.

Different folks like different races; zero beef with that. I haven't had the chance to do these races recently so I can't comment on how much fun they are/aren't depending on the car chosen.

The credit thing I'll get to later, because it's interesting and definitely worth talking about.

I'm in a similar boat. Only working overtime when allowed, keeping that roof taken care of and I'm the chef of the house to boot #CastIronSkilletForLife. Family obligations abound. Still have to explain things like "keep the fan on in the shower unless you're going to clean the mildew off the ceiling" between the "YOU KNOW HOW MUCH HOT WATER COSTS???"

Gran Turismo 7 is a great stress reliever for me, not a source of said stress.

Where you and I differ here is the focus. For you, fun is largely based on how many/which cars you can purchase and - as a direct result - this makes for an accounting equation. Time = money and therefore you want the maximum amount of credits possible when you're able to play.

Question related to the issue of car pursuit: if all cars were unlocked/in your garage, would you still play Gran Turismo 7? Why or why not?

For me, I focus on having fun just from driving. I'll get all the cars in the game eventually; I think there are three I don't have. Due to the fact I'm focused on online racing, online time trials and offline time trials (possibly my favorite of the three) I get full value for my time every instance I'm able to play. Circuit experience and license exams take care of that as well as generating credits.

When I do have all the cars I'll still play as much as I can because simply driving is my focus. Looking at the waterfalls on Deep Forest from my convertible, pacing a flock of geese at Grand Valley Highway when I can.

But others - yourself included - approach it differently.

And there's nothing wrong with that.

Well, for me, fun is based on taking cars out on Nordshleife and doing laps trying to beat my own PBs. So yes, if all the cars were unlocked from the start, I'd happily spend the next 5 years doing just that in GT7 just like I did in Sport, and GT6. My desire to buy cars right now is because I'd like to have that part of the game done with and have access to all the content asap so that I can just do the things I like to do.
