Loved the idea for the DTM.

I wish this could be a chilli series across multiple tracks, maybe 4 or 5 chillies
Enjoyed it until about lap 3/4, won by 20+ in the end. Admittedly I used Racing Soft (with the Alfa 155) and probably could have dumbed the tires down a bit. Will try again with Sports Soft maybe

Also a couple of Sophy races as part of the set might be fun in future.

Decent set of races though, annoyingly I'd already done the St Croix race yesterday afternoon so it was a quick repeat for me. I always forget to hold off on doing the new races until the Friday challenges come out!

Got these done. Pretty easy with the cars I used (normal difficulty).

Brands Hatch - Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione '08 - Upgraded the tires to SS, but otherwise stock. Blew past everyone. Easy win. First ticket achieved.

Nurburgring Nordschleife - Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series '20 - Upgraded to SS tires, but otherwise stock. This car can go! I was caught off-guard a few times by its speed and went off the track as a result. It was fun, easy win.

Monza - Ferrari VGT - You want hyper? I'll give you hyper. This car made all the others look like they were standing still. No modifications. Won by over a minute. Second ticket achieved.

Sainte Croix - Nissan GT-R NISMO '17 - Upgraded to SS tires, as usual. The car was fine. I misjudged braking points a few times and ended up going into the wall on one occasion. Still, it was another easy win.

Nurburgring Sprint - Ford Sierra RS 500 Cosworth '87 and Alfa Romeo 155 2.5 V6 TI '93 - I did one lap with the Ford -- unmodified except for SS tires -- and it was obvious that this car was going to need some modifications to be competitive. The rest of the cars just drove off into the distance. I didn't feel like spending the time and credits on upgrading it, so I switched the Alfa. Easy win. Final ticket achieved.
Do you paint just the cars you post each week like this or are all of your cars painted this way and how long does it take you to do each car?

Yeah. Just go with the Alfa. This was luck(after five tries) of getting a lead 190 E to hold up the Alfas each lap at the back straight. Was able to dispatch cars early in the race as they were sliding/understeering/oversteering/trying-to-block-my-trajectory-as-usual mid-corner at T4 & T6. Used TCS 2 and blocked the inside lines from T1-T4 & T5 hairpin. The lead 190 E was catching me on the front straight and crazy late braking for the final laps. It was fighting the Alfas on the last lap which helped me get a gap exiting the final chicane.

Wonder if the next one will be at Red Bull Ring. That might be even tougher.

I usually do the liveries right after making my picks. It takes 5-10 minutes per car. The design is pretty simple and I've done it enough times now that I can bang them out pretty quick. It can take a little longer for cars that get weird with the body panel arrangement (eg. when the roof is considered 'Other' instead of 'Body'), but for most cars it isn't much effort.

I might have the unpopular opinion but these races were a little underwhelming to me.

  • Schwartzwald race had no tire wear so I just used the BMW VGT with full wet tires.
  • DTM race had no tire wear, no weather, no fuel consumption.... Used my new Alfa and basically destroyed the grid. Won by 30 seconds. Thought it was an okay race, but it wasnt that fun.

You need to choose the right car in order for it to be fun.

The DTM race is made up with cars looking like DTM cars, but most are just road cars with a DTM livery and some tuning. It could be interesting to be able to change the fuel tank so we can do races with fuel consumption with road cars.

I can agree with that. too bad we cant use the Audi RS5

OK, so NOW that we KNOW PD can do this, I hope they bring this to Sport Mode!!

This is what so many of us have been asking for!! Something other than the GR races and the same old venue. This would be epic!!
Unfirtunately most of top players/aliens would complain why is not a Gr.3/Gr.4 race, I have the impression that top players comments are what have driven most of PD decisions on the sport mode

The thing is, you can't go using an over powered car for the event, overpower the event, and then say the event wasn't fun. Also, the events are not set up to be maximum difficulty. Try it with the old 911, no mods, and see how things turn out.

I used my 190E 2.3, modded up and engine swapped. I need to tune it better because it's a little wild and I ran on RM tires. I came 2nd by 3 seconds. I was the fastest car on the grid, but that wasn't enough.

I want to say that the AI put on a GREAT display of what it can do!! It was really fun!!

Yes, of course, if I wanted to guarantee first place, I should have taken the Alfa. OR, since I didn't see any restrictions, why not the 956??

These events are as easy or as difficult as you want to make them. If you make it easy on yourself, don't complain that it was easy.

I REALLY REALLY REALLY wish the handicap bonus came back

I dunno, I'm pretty good. Fairly vocal as well. I think it's awesome. I disagree that the "top players/aliens" are the one driving the decisions. Those guys can and will drive anything.

Fun week, especially with the update because we got a new race. Schwarzwald is usually fun given the track and the changeable weather, RUF RGT was a bit too much but really fun to drive around there. The new GT-R race was good to have, even if Sainte-Croix A is my least favourite of those layouts, stock Nismo GT-R easily won, maybe could use a few AI closer to the PP limit. I like the idea of the DTM race but in practice it doesn't really work that well, if we had the Calibra and the 190 Evo II it would've been great. I found with tuned road cars they weren't really close on pace at real or as close to real specs as I could get. Some cars you can't get enough power to match the real race cars unfortunately, so I ended up using the Alfa 155 and it just demolished the field, fun car to drive though. The liveries were a fantastic throwback however and I like the idea of these kind of themed races, hopefully we get Nordschleife next time.

I wasn’t tempted to do a V8 swapped E30 or 190 E, but as you said, I was fine not to win. It’s a really good event that not just one specific car wins all the time. I didn’t get to see an AI RS 500 win, but wins were evenly spread between the 155, 190 E and E30 in my races.

Now, to address this:
At this time, audi ran DTM with the v8.

I didn’t even think to use the Audi TT ‘14 with Audi 4.2 V8 swap! ;)

Did anyone win the DTM event with the BMW M3 Sport Evo? I literally tuned it to max and put on RS, car is still too slow. I have no clue about tuning and setting, in case anyone does would be great to share a screen shot. Thanks!

Re St. croix, I found the track/car combo great fun. Nismo GT-R was a bit overpowered though, should have chosen sth else

Closest I got in the E30 SE(widebody, aero, RH) was 7.9 seconds from P1. I think it’s a bit of luck to have a 190 E start up front that hits the brakes at the back straight. I’m trying again with a stock body E30 SE w/aero.

PD are such punks.
IMG_5288.jpeg

I gained every lap. The penultimate lap starting from the back straight, I’m behind W.Reiniger and all cars ahead are in a line. I know I’m going to get to the lead battle and chance for the win when the 190 E hits the brakes at the kink. Nope! I was like you YOU!
On the final lap THEN W.Reiniger hits the brakes at the kink. Thanks, man.
Anyway, this is the type of challenge we need. Similar to 🌶️ races.

How it went down. Oh boy. Got hectic last few laps.

Pretty fun week and better than last,IMO.
Used my RSR at Nordschleife. Got punted once by the red M3 but still won by about 5 seconds. I'll try it with some street cars. I don't have too many in the 700-under range.

St. Croix in my Kaido Racer inspired 400R. Won by around 10 seconds. I did this race yesterday with a modified Premium R35 so thought I'd try something else.

Hyper car it is with the FXXK. Easy win by almost a minute. lol

Brands in my 630pp Volvo was a win.

Now to my most challenging and fun race, the DTM.
I first tried it with one of my Merc EVOs that was mildly modified. RS. Not even close. They left me after the first few turns so I quit. Next I tried it with the 155 on RS. I barely won that one, only in the last few turns. Erikssen in another 155 was way ahead so I was able to reel him in.
Then I decided to buy another EVO(yeah I'm weird like that) and modded it with a turbo. Again it was another 155 in the lead. Caught up to him on lap 9 and led through 10 but he was not too far behind. Got the win. That was fun! I'll explore with other cars if I can figure out some mods to keep up with them.

I guess i shouldnt have said they were not fun - i guess i just expected more from this event like tire wear or fuel consumption.
just at least something that would throw a monkey wrench into someones strategy.

I just finished this week’s races.
-Euro Clubman 600: used one of my E46 M3s that had a mild track build. Won pretty easily.
-Schwartzwald League: used my 996 GT3 “RSR” on slicks. Got lucky that it only drizzled in my race. Another easy win.
-Hypercar Parade: pulled out the nuclear bomb Valkyrie because I was time strapped. Won by ~50 seconds. Will probably retry in something not so overkill.
-GT-R Cup: stock 400R and came third by less than 2 seconds. Very good race, but a lot of missed shifts. Definitely think I can win it.
-DTM ‘Ring: stock 155 and came up .2 short of beating the lead 190E. A lot of blown corners, should have won, but it was an astonishing race. Only real problem for the race IMO is the top 3 were 8 seconds ahead of the rest of them. Also, at least in my race, the different cars were clumped together on the road. Want to find some stats on the 190E Class 1 and try to win in that. Oh the possibilities!

i didn’t even think to use the Audi TT ‘14 with Audi 4.2 V8 swap! ;)
Is there a swap for the 03 TT? There was a class 1 TT-R which I believe used the non-FSI version of the 4.2.

Unfortunately not. It’s the only Audi with a swap.

Aero means you put the slider to the right for max speed or left for downforce? Sorry, total noob in regards to these things

What do you mean by 'demolish', what is it for you ? I ran that race in the Alfa ( full stock ) as well and I did not have this impression. Sure, you're faster because you drive at max. while most of the AI don't use their full potential, but I never felt like I could 'demolish' the win out of this.

@05XR8

Power parts on your M3 SE ? PP ? I'm gonna have a try ... ;)

All the way left is less downforce for top speed. All the way right is for stability and better cornering. Take note of the explainers when you click on the adjustments. ;)

No turbo. Just all NA engine parts. Keep in mind suspension and gearing may not be an optimal setting for fastest times and the way you drive. I set my cars like this to give the look of the real cars and the characteristics they exhibit over a course, for my enjoyment of watching my replays.
