This is gonna be a good combo this week, I might have it all done my Sunday, we are expected to get 3-5 inches of snow tomorrow. A snowstorm is headed our way, so I better work on as much as I can tonight. I'll have to find a VGT car and a reliable Ferrari for Events 4 and 5. I need to focus and not make any mistakes this time, I want to get all the CRB's.

Lowered the difficulty and I have completed it. Didn't want to but between already putting off the video for one day and the races I have this weekend, I just wanted it done and dusted.

I have to admit that last weeks SF race was way more fun than this Ferrari race. Never thought I’d ever say that. Tried the F50 first, not even close then jumped into the 330 to win it. Didn’t want to use a race car for this. 😑

Well this was an eventful week of races.
Suzuka was in the Mazda Demio I used for a similar race at Autopolis some months ago. Mild tune on SS kept it right under the suggested. It was a fun race and came down to the last few turns v the Civic and Integra for the CRB win.

RBR was in my underpowered Pandem M3 on SS and under the suggested pp. Another fun race that went down the wire and another CRB win.

Watkins was in this monster which was just above the suggested on RS. I could have probably used RH to go under but wth.
It was a 40 second win. lol

VGT was in my trusty choice for these races, the Lexus. It was dicey for the first few laps because 1st place Blazsan was quick on the straights but once I overtook him on lap 4, I was able to hold on.

And we come to the big race at Fuji. Went with my first choice,Gr3 on RS and detuned. Was working my way up but had a solo spin in the 4th in the last sector. That dropped me down to 8th. I thought of restarting but decided to march on. Worked my way up and the last 2-3 laps were the fun ones. I'd catch up with 1 and 2 but they'd leave me behind on the straight. I was in second in the last lap with all three of us close to each other. Was able to take 1st in the second to last turn but I knew I wasn't going to win on the straight so I drove like an a-hole and started blocking second. Then third came past us right before the line! I'll take second.

Video of my blocking. lol

Forgot to mention I got a duplicate Genesis VGT so sold it.

Another fun group of races:
  • Japanese FF Challenge - Integra Type-R '95 🔰
  • European FR Challenge - 365 GTB4 🚫
  • American Clubman Cup - Charger SRT Hellcat 🚫
  • Vision GT Trophy - Ferrari VGT 🔰
  • Ferrari Challenge Special Event - F50 🚫
Forgot what I got from the part ticket, but I also got 5k from a 3⭐️ Daily and a dupe Honda VGT from the car ticket. Almost at 20mil again, just hope I can get it before the McLaren shows up.

I just tried on normal (was on hard before) and it's even worse 'cause now AI is even more unpredictable and also quite slow through the esses, so even more chances for crashing.

Just to clarify, my goal wasn't winning (I'm sure I could, but no point, I don't need the credits anymore), my goal was winning clean. (And I don't mean the CRB, I really mean clean, so absolutely no contact with opponents)
This event gave me anxiety and made me angry. And the more I try the more angry and nervous I get. When you're popping three Xanax just to calm down, there's something wrong. I'm not having fun and that's why I'm stopping here.
I'm not the best driver/player, I'm not the worst one but it looks like I'm just not good enough for realistic, clean racing, especially in fast cars with lots of down force. And while I do blame this on myself, I guess the rather unpredictable AI and the rubber banding in this game doesn't help either. Anyway, it is as it is and sometimes you just have to accept you're not good enough at something.
I hear ya on this. I want to win it, but at the same time, I also want to have clean races and attempt "realistic" overtaking maneuvers. Unfortunately, the nature of these "Chase the rabbit" races and starting in P20 (which means you'd need an OP car to make any sort of progress) and just 15 laps means that it will make clean racing much more trickier. With so little laps, it means you'd have to be much more aggressive and look for gaps that are sometimes closing and would never work in the realworld. Plus, the performance-delta of your car vs the cars you're chasing also means that you have to anticipate them going much slower in the corners and, as such, the chances of you making contact with them mid-corner is much higher. That's still the biggest issue I have with these AI races... that the structure of them essentially forces you to be ultra-aggressive with all your moves with an OP car. It is what it is, I suppose. 🤷‍♂️

I have an engine ticket sitting in my rewards box that I've been waiting for the next update to open. I opened it when I got it and it's for the Audi R5-20vT-Quattro-Pikes engine. There is only 1 car that it goes in to and I've already done the swap on another car. Complete waste of an engine ticket.
I had four, then realised none of them would be valid after the next likely update date... three of the four were one car engines I've already done, the other was a 2JZ. Bit meh!

Yes, you're absolutely correct here!
I guess this event indeed reminded me that there just is no realistic racing in single player. That's why I finally got a PS+ subscription 2 days ago so I can race online.

You might very well be, but when the opponents either are blind as bats or just don't care, and are way out of their skill league to drive such cars, the situation becomes the one we have. Racing people cleanly is much easier than the AI because you at least have some idea about how they're going to behave - nobody hits full brakes at the exit of a fast sweeper for example, like the AI very well can do. Or turn into you when you're already three quarters past them.

If real people in real races drove like the AI does, motor racing would have been banned decades ago thanks to the death toll being unbearable. Or at least there would be no teams left because nobody has money to rebuild totally wrecked cars after every race, simply as the result of someone ploughing into them without even trying to avoid the collision. Every time you see smoke from a contact in the game, that would be a race ending crash for both participants. More or less every AI passing situation in the race car classes is like that and they'll do just the same for you unless you're fast and/or smart enough to dodge it.

"This AI has been trained by Taki Inoue & Pastor Maldonado" 😄
