Weekly Hot Hatch Series

Yes, the Levin is classed as a hatchback and is legal.

As an addendum to my previous question, then - I take it that the Shuichi Shigeno version is considered to be a tuner or race car, and is thus not allowed? Just want to know before I go out and start tuning.

Yes, that would be correct -the tuner version is not allowed. Lookin forward to your submit!

Im tempted to run both classes, but for my 2.0l car would a Celica GTfour be considered a hatchback? Ive read liftback but its up to you Host man, if you say no ill find another car.

here is a photo.

I noticed that previously, you stated that we had to use the original car that we used in the first race, for the rest of the season. Is this still the case?

IMO it would make it so much more interesting, as different cars have different acceleration/steering properties, thus making it more challenging.

I dunno just my opinion.

Just ran a quick 4 lap stint in my Under 2.0l car "Renault 5 Turbo" 1`05.779

did a 1:05,504 in my Peugeot 205 turbo 16
i can get way more but the thing under steers like crazy. so gonna have to put some time and effort in it

ok some tuning done 1:04,629 without SRF *wonders what i could get with SRF*
gonna call it a night

lol almost took me 50 mins to shave off 0,875

ps. this is prolly the most fun i had with gt5 until now besides the 1st and 2nd seasonal event.

Dang! I thought I was doing pretty well, then you guys beat my times, so I go second faster, and then you beat that by over a second and a half! Don't think theres much time left in my CR-Z.

How much does that 205 weigh with full weight reduction? I imagine that gives it an edge. It's also AWD isn't it?

I've seen it in the used lot a few times but always pass on it for some reason. Next time though...

Evening All,

After much consideration, I've decided to ammend the rules. Drivers are now free to use different cars from week to week. However, the first car/time you submit each week will be the vehicle that you have to use for that particular week.

On a side note, entries are flowing in rather well now, and I think the WHHS is off to a great start.

To StrokerAce: Unfortunately, the Celica is classified as a coupe IRL, so is therefore not eligible for the Series.

Thank you for your support, and keep those times coming!

blergh the 1st sector of my best time was crappy though the 2nd and the last sector where epic. think i could shave off another 0,2-0,3 sec

@freedomweasel

yeah it's AWD and i think it's lighter and more powerful than the CR-Z (bob is grinding atm and i'm busy with solidmodelling)

Heck of a little car. I guess I resign on that one, and try and shave some time off my STi time in class 2. Nice work on that time.

I'll be sure to buy one next time it shows up.

It's the AWD and extra power which gave it the edge for me - I tried the Levin and Renault, but I couldn't get the Levin as fast as the Renault, and then my first attempt with the 205 beat that.

In terms of driving enjoyment, though, I'd go for the Levin every time. I felt like far more of my laps were coming close to it's potential, wheras I struggled to put together a full good lap in either of the others.

Yeah, if nothing else this challenge will get people to try some cars they may not have used before. Sure the CR-Z I have is slower, but it's nearly a minute faster than it was stock and I had fun tuning it. Bummer that the fastest cars aren't always the most fun though.

If I can find a levin in the lot I might try that on for the next round, all I've got is the tuned version at the moment, but it's a fun little car.

As a side note, we need more Class 1 competition!

@freedomweasel, I have gone for the CR-Z as well may not be the quickest but I like driving it. Managed to just pip your time that is posted 1.06.324. I think I can go slightly quicker but will try a Class 1 entry now. [AT, abs @ 1, driving line, everything else off]

SRF can be used. If people want to use it go for it, although I think it would be worth indicating if SRF has been used or not.

Personally I disagree with the idea of SRF, but is it even possible to ban it and not rely on people's honesty anyway? There's no indicator to what driving aids are being used unless you record your whole session, so anyone could freely use it and claim they weren't.

It's pretty easy to see by watching replays whether it is on or off, but the difference is pretty small when you're on race soft tyres anyway, as far as I'm aware (I've only used it once, for the Top Gear Elise Challenge, before I found out that it was magical grip rather than a driving aid).

My two submitted times for now. I dont think I can get much more out of the Renault 5

and my class one subaru wrx time I will rerun if I feel the time is threatened.

don't think I can get over a second out of the Clio. Could you post a reply showing the bumper cam view of the Subaru.

Just Submitted my best time, spent all week setting up the suspension and dif, pretty happy with my time :) could probably get about another .5 seconds with sfr on and with a wheel.

good luck guys ;)

Guess i was wrong. Some people really want to get 1st place at all cost

I wanted to post my time at the last minute, so no one would be able to set up their mini well enough as mine :P got a feeling its the supercharger in my mini that gives it a advantage. However I got some decent times in the civic too

I'm not using any aids, only ABS 1, if that's what you're referring to, SRF is a cheat as far as I'm concerned. Wish i had my g25 setup I could knock another second or so off.
