KolyanaAre any of you guys looking at buying Forza? I owned an Xbox before the PS2 (in fact, I bought a PS2 solely for GT4 ), but the community here in the WRS (and the lack of a DFP for the XBox) are making me have second thoughts about buying the title.
Boy, that "just one more run" fever hits hard sometimes, doesn't it.TeledrielKnew I could get a sub 4' 30, if I could just work it a little more. But this week will bring new challenges, as i have not been able to mess with tuning at all in GT4, been to busy in WRS and other stuff to been able to get back to my GT World game.
A lot of time my first post to what Luxy puts on the leaderboard will be my very first actual clean time. Then I'll disappear from the internet for most of the weekend while I improve. I was feeling very driven by Kolyana having the top D3 time on Luxy's leaderboard, but I wasn't able to approach her sector times until the last hour of trying (good job this week Kolyana on your 2nd best in Oregon time!)TeledrielOnce again Nat, ya pass me up. Gratz, and you too LMM, though I was running good times with ya by Luxy's, but seems ya pulled it out in the last day to great times. 👍
Muchos thanks on all the work on the leaderboards. It makes for great fun to see progress (even if it's backwards some weeks). What I'm not looking forward to is the 6 of 8 rule. JMitch17, who missed the first two weeks, is behind me only because he has zero points for those weeks. He'll rocket past me once that rules kicks in. Then he'll be impossible to be a neighbor too!TeledrielTime to make fine tunings to the Leaderboard for the coming weeks. Nat and I have been diligantly working this, little by little, to make it the best product we can for us.
LoveMyMiataOk, here's for a serious driving question. Or at least as serious as friendly talks about a video game can be.
One of the key problems I have is consistency. I can throw down a good lap (well, ok, a good D3 quality lap) sometimes, but rarely can I duplicate it. I spend a lot of time working on a good racing line, identifying braking points, identifying what speed I want to enter a corner at, etc., etc. But then comes race time and I can usually hit the braking point ok, but I find that the length of time I brake is inconsistent. If I stick my eyes to the speedometer than I can usually find the best time to let up on the brakes, but then I might miss the turn in point because I wasn't looking.
How do you guys go through corners consistently? I know my biggest bad habit is too heavy on the brakes, I'm having trouble feeling the car and race track like I would driving in my car (btw, with the weather we're having here, can't wait to get out of work and drive home with the top down!).
EbiggsHey Natalya. Figured I'd drop a few lines. I picked up on the GT series late. I was on the internet looking for something other than street racing, that was actually realistic, and saw GT4. I checked out GT3 and decided that for $20, I would buy it and then decide if I really wanted GT4. Well, I was instantly hooked, and eventually joined up here. This is my first season of WRS events, and one of my first OLR's period.
Nice to meet all you guys, should have some good, fun competition this season.
The name's Eric, by the way.
See you all on the track.
SimRaceDriverI find that keeping the ghost car on after each lap helps me to identify where I can go a bit faster or show me a better line through a particular turn.
It also sets a standard that I'm always trying to beat...
Could help you too as well!
ballstothewallHey you guys! and Nat of course!
I know i used to be very consistant with the ds2, but that seems to have dropped off a little with the df wheel. It must be something to do with being able to brake at the same time as accelerating or something.
Noticed the other day that some of the fast boys switch back to using the ds2 pad for some races, like in wks 3 &4 hot and holl both said that they were using it instead of the wheel.
It must be because you can go from lock to lock with the pad VERY quickly as opposed to the wheel it takes some time coz of the resistance from the force feedback!
Gonna try it myself this week sometime, see how i do
I think the wheel is better for precise control of the steering on flowing tracks, ds2 better on twisty tracks.
will let you know!

Heh, maybe that explains why my best race was when I was semi-hallucinating while up an hour or so past my bed time!circa86When I pull a fastest lap it is usually when I am not thinking about anything at all. trust me. you will learn to do this if you don't already just keep trying.
ballstothewallHello Chris mate!
How you getting on this week?
I am SOOOOO slow, Nat's kicking my but this week!
Mind you not done a lot yet this week coz old ps2 caught the dreaded 'gt4 disorder' and is on life support as we speak! lol
Had to get a new slimline one yesterday, and then couldn't use it till earlier on this evening coz of other commitments.

RedWolfRacerPicture perfect! Oh wait...it IS a picture. Don't worry though; I will surpass you again this week! At least, I hope so. lol
I've yet to set up my car to anything that handles remotely well. I have a problem in straightines with the drive wheels spinning in 2nd and 3rd gear at higher revs. Think I ought to stiffen the front suspension and play with alignment. Don't remember my Ttimes off-hand.
