What are your ideas for new fictional track locations?

This thread is simple. Post a picture or text of locations around the world you would like to see a track made around. Keep these places realistic. The moon is not acceptable. Neither is Mt Everest. These places should have roads and not simply be a nice location but they should be nice. My back yard is not ok. These places should not have a real life race tracks based on them. Try and avoid locations that are already in GT5p and GT4 (while not all locales from GT4 may make it into GT5 we know about them so thats enough). Feel free to use Google Maps if you know a good driving/scenic road in your area. Good examples would be:

Twisty section of the Taconic State Parkway.

Mount Washington NH USA

Top driving roads from Top Gear.

Col De Turini

San Bernardino Pass

I am interested in what you can come up with.👍

Edited by mod - You don't need to quote all the pictures again. We've just seen them up there...

All very good locations, however, overtaking on them would be a royal... pain! Not that i'm not up for the challenge mind. However, i would quite like to see tracks brought back from GT1 and GT2. For example, Red Rock Valley and that Rome Curcuit, in both long and short versions.

I agree there were some gems in GT1-2. I went with the mountain theme simply because PD already did Eiger and Trial Mountain is such a loved track. While the cars are the stars in GT5 the tracks should be stunning none the less. I really like Fuji in this respect because it has a very nice backdrop. I hope PD adds road courses to GT5. This would add some variety to the track line up and maybe give opportunity to some unique events.

Interesting, because I think GT5 needs more curcuit typre tracks, like Midfield raceway. Personally, I'd like to see more rally courses and offical WRC cars too.

By road I mean literally a road that takes you in a loop. No rumble strips, signs, stadiums etc. What also would be cool is if they created a huge race track that had many different configurations that the player could customize. Like you could decide which turn led into the next. I think that is asking for too much though.

When GT5 was previewed there was a picture (maybe CG trailer) of a rally stage and a helicopter flying by. So I am confident we will see a return of rally cars and stages. Also in my opinion rally was the best part of GT4. To me it felt the most accurate. Only reason I say this is because I have driven my Subaru Legacy wagon around snowy roads and GT4 came pretty close to what it feels like in real life.

On a side note there is a going trend around SCE. Developers within Sony's circle are sharing there resources ans know how with one another. I know that both Insomniac and Naughty Dog helped with the development of KZ2. Imagine if Evolution Studios, the makers of Motorstorm, shared their tech with PD. They could assist with damage calibration and off road dynamics. GT5+Motorstorm=Massive Win!

I've never played motorstorm, so i'll have to take your word for it. I think a customised track is a good idea, to test car set-ups and such. There was a track (complex loop?) or something, in GT3/4 that was quite good for this. Had a massive straight, changing radius corners, sharp left/rights and a high speed cornering test... great for testing set-ups. I got my SVT Cobra R to a fine art on that! lol :sly:

Motorstorm is by no means a sim. But it looks and feels amazing. It has some of the best damage, mud effects, water effects, crash effects, effects in general for a racing game. The only game with better damage is Burnout. If you put GT's physics to Motorstorm (minus the 500ft jumps and turbo boost) omg it would be awesome. BTW love the SVT Cobra R. One of my favorite cars.

If you compare population of Finland (5,5mil.), to the amount of all Championships what our nation have scored... in GT5 really should have even one of our legendary Circuits in it. Pity that those are so small-scale circuits, that you could not drive there with monster-cars, but they certainly would be good for Touring-cars etc etc.

If they would create some fictional track from Finland, they really could get grazy and beatiful road-track from middle of Finland which is full of lakes and roads going near by those, and very often lakes are on both sides... only few meters away from roads.

Ilse of man?

Now you have confused me lmao.

What does isle of man have to do with test drive unlimited. or hawaii?

But yeah Isle of man would be amazing. or though that would be a huge track and I dont know if PD's engine has a limit on track size. As the isle of man is 37 miles long.

I was just going to say the roads from the Top Gear road search, they would make excellent rally courses. 👍

Something based in the Rocky Mountains would be great. I've been on some excellent roads in Colorado. Poudre Canyon Highway, for example:

And Test Drive Unlimited is set in Oahu, not Hawaii.

Yes, but the large main island is called Hawaii as well; I assumed that's what EAsports017 was talking about. No biggie.

I would Love Mount Akina from initial D

Probably to one fan to another
There is no Mt. Akina, its Haruna

I always dreamed to see these roads in a Gran Turismo. They are really funny!
These Initial D roads or Gunsai Touge would be amazing. You can practice drift or time attack having a lot of fun and we would take a lot of potential in a lot of cars like the famous AE86.
Here some roads (where WRC runs and where some Touge racing happens) from my country, Catalunya (it's into Spain).

We havn't sims with these roads, that could be a great point for a sim like GT.

Would love some real world tracks i.e. roads! Thats why I love the Ring it feels just like a road.

Downhill passes like Col De Turini would be great and some Irish mountain stages like Molls Gap & Knockalla or seriously narrow ones like Hamiltons Folly.

I would love to see a really big test track. Could even be the current Test Track but stretched to include 5-6 mile long straits. The current Test Track isn't quite long enough for terminal velocity in come cars. Think VW's Ehra-Lessien (that would be great to include as well).
