What did you do in GT7 today?

Abandoned my next endurance race, too tired, I keep nodding off lol. Guess I'll do some low effort grinding to save up, then early night.
Just press pause. Put the ps in rest mode and carry after you're re-energised. No need to quit and start again.

Decided to fully mod my GT40 2006 and............its absolutely undrivable. All the credits wasted. The snap oversteer is so bad I can only coast through corners.

I spent HOURS trying to find a setup that works for me, and found none. Super soft rear suspension, LSD maxed out, rear downforce maxed out, racing hards, proper toe 0f 0.30 on the rear - nothing helps. Its around 700PP yet I can easily beat it with my 650 PP Integra because that car can actually corner.

I have played all Gran Turismo games sans Sports, I have played many Colin McRae games and also Richard Burns rally and Assetto Corsa, I consider myself an experienced sim racer, and this snap oversteer is absolutely RIDICULOUS.
I'm not surprised reading this at all. Ford GTs have terrible handling that causes oversteer. I had this exact same problem all the way back in GT5. I wont be heavily investing in Ford Gts this time round.

I did my daily routine:

  • look at the new LCD cars and get disappointed.
  • look at the new UCD cars and get disappointed.
  • grind trial mountain cup 2 times to get my daily mileage done.
  • receive my disapponting low-star ticket; today that was 2 stars.
  • today I actually got a car from it instead of 5,000 Cr. I think it’s been over 3 weeks since I last got a car.
  • received the car and then I logged off.

Did my daily grind for 550,000 Cr. Worked on making the 300ZX into a Gr4 car, and had to keep toning it down, but I'm finally on pace with my two other Gr4s. Then decided to aim a little lower and took the RX-7 Savanna to the tune shop and tweaked it to just a whisker over 599PP for my GT5 league. It's a blast to whiz around Deep Forest, and managed to be within a fraction of a second of one of my Porsches. Homologating a bunch of 170 - 200-ish horsepower cars is going to be fun, but hopefully within a week I'll be able to make a field of these little beasties.

I have to bug the decal artists in the livery forum to see if anyone would be nice enough to design me some league badges and number plaques.

Finished another WTC, 2 million credits in the bank and nothing i really need.. because! what i really wanted was a GR3 car that gave me enough confidence (yes, easy to drive GR3 car).

And with the manufacturers race i remembered i would get free cars! So Toyota just got a new drive.. and i have GR3 that i can rely on. Improved my Mazda Vision Q lap at spa from "never gonna tell you" to "embarrassing but ok for me"

The next days will be in Sport or running some of the weird races to get enough millage.

Did a few championships to earn about 800,000 credits. Then took the McLaren MP4-12C to Nordschleife with sport soft tires. Couldn't believe how much fun this car was considering I never really liked it in any other game. The back end would kick out a little here and there but it was very easy to correct. Couldn't wipe the smile off my face.

Does that actually work? I left the PS5 on for my 12H run while sleeping, after disabling power saving. Still made a mess of thing when I resumed lol.

I've read about lots of problems with rest mode so not really willing to risk 6 hours of racing on it :/
I guess I should try with a shorter run, to build some confidence.

I remembered to check whether the Jeep MB model really was a Jeep MB or a Ford GPW labelled as a Jeep MB. And the answer is...:

Gran Turismo™ 7_20220405042152.jpg

In anticipation for the endurance races I set up a 1 hour endurance race at Deep Forest with Gr3 cars.

After about 5 pit stops starting last, finished 2nd.😎

Big if true.

No but seriously please fill me in.
So... when the Jeep was first shown, I thought it would be amusing to label it as a Ford GPW.

Well, also there were some good reasons for doing so - the cars are pretty much identical (the US contracted Ford to make the "Jeep" alongside Willys, and Ford made just under half of them), Ford was a brand already in the game while Jeep wasn't and Stellantis (which owns the Jeep brand and, unlike other multi-brand companies, controls the IP, PR, and licensing directly) is being a bit weird with licensing recently. It also allowed me to see more easily which sites were bothering to do their own information gathering and which were just lifting our car list. You'd be surprised how many were doing the latter.

However, while there are some small differences between the cars, there's ultimately no sure fire way of telling them apart short of the chassis number, which we can't see. Almost all of the small differences are replaceable parts - slightly different shaped front bumper, "F-script" bolts and components, and so on - so really it could still be impossible to tell a Ford from a Jeep with Ford bits, or a Jeep from a Ford with Jeep bits.

There's one difference that is more significant though, as it requires pretty much a total body replacement (or a panel cutting out and replacing). That means that, while it's still possible it could be either, it's much less likely.

The difference is that the Jeep has a round recess for the rear toolbox release button, but the Ford has a square recess with rounded corners.

So it's (probably) a real Jeep MB after all :D

I went to the UCD and grabbed a Copen. I might buy 9 more to get the trophy. They are only 14K cr and do like those little cars. Started to get the McLarenMP10 (?) or the Ferrari F430 but both of them are available in Brand Central. Finshed the M3 and Alfa menus. Got 3 roulette tickets and actually won 100K cr from of them. I am trying to go ahead and finish the menus so that I can do custom races and mess around in livery and scapes. I don't get the chance to play everyday so right now my focus is on the menus. Once I get those done I can enjoy doing some of the other stuff.

Drove the Ferrari F8 Tributo around Le Mans. Possibly the most dreadful experience I’ve ever had with Gran Turismo. Touch the brakes in this car while going 330 km/h and you’re dead.

Haven't played yet today, but I guess I'll just keep on snapping photos. They really need to hurry up and add more races already, I'm excited to race in the 24 hours of Le mans.

I started a 10 lap race last night. Eyes were getting heavy on lap 6 so I pressed pause, put the ps5 in rest mode. Went to work this morning, got back 1 hour ago and finished my last 4 laps.

It works.

I need to grind today, 3 new cars showing up later in the Legend Dealership. Got to keep adding stock to my garage for more endurance races :)

Last night I took the CLK-LM out on the track. That thing drives like it's on rails and very easy to catch when it starts sliding. Recovering from / surviving aquaplaning was also very do-able. Only once did it get away from me.

I raced it against pro GR.1 AI, competes well, except the Tomahawk VGT ran away

That's 2 laps on softs, I have no clue how the AI can drive 5 laps on them... (x3 tire wear)

I got lucky with the RNG, putting lots of GR.C cars in the race

Nice to see them on the track.

I started the 3H run at dawn with x5 time compression, 15 hours in game which put it from a bit before sunrise to the sun getting low and ready to set at the end of the race. Very pretty. I put in double rain storms during mid day for variety. Next one I'll start at sunrise and see if that ends at dusk with x5 time compression.

It would be helpful if PD labeled the presets with a time! What does early dawn, dawn, sunrise, late morning mean... What time of year is it! I guess I can time stamp sunrise and sunset when I have them both in race, calculate the length of the day and look up what dates that could be in Nürburg. A crude estimate from my 12H run (was overcast raining in the morning, hard to tell) is 9 hours for the night, 15 hour day. That would put it at early May or early August, but it could be at the summer solstice June 21, 16 hours of sunshine. Anyway the night is much shorter than the day, glad it's not the other way around!

Couple clips racing GR.1 in the CLK-LM

Bought a pair of Gr.3 cars today and then returned to the 20 million credit cap.

Porsche 911 RSR: This one is a treat to drive in stock form. Very good in the corners with the proper throttle control. It can easily win in the GT Cup Gr.3 pepper races. Passed the black F1 GTR leader just before lap 9 at Daytona. It was a fun race. I love the RSR.

Aston Martin DBR9: This one is a bit of a handful at times without tuning. It will oversteer quite a bit upon exiting some corners unless you manage the throttle more carefully. Used it in the World GT championship and managed to not spin out, though I did get distracted by my phone during the Nürburgring 24H race and wound up speeding into a gravel trap on the GP loop…the last place anyone would screw up on the 24H layout. Pause the game, you moron!

Both driven without any aids besides ABS.

Did gold in 24 minutes of Le Mans and 20 minutes of Bathurst!
Now I have all Missions golds.

Little disappointed there was no trophy for all that hard work...

Added one Trial Mountain championship and that was it for today.
I know there are Circuit Experience tracks I must do, but nothing is holding me like Licences or Missions, so I'm little afraid for further motivation.

Took the Toyota to the RACE C, didn't come last.. and that was the most positive part of that race..
Got a 3 star card and 100.000 credits which just reminds me how much i hate the roulette, that is the same i could have got from 20 x 4 star cards with a 5000 payout or doing a few races.. it does not make sense..

Trained on Nurb with BMW M6 GT3, 1 lap where I restarted as it was too bad, 1 lap with some mistakes, in the end not very good and another lap a bit better but 3s to go under 7min.

Received a 4 stars ticket !!!! :dopey: it's been weeks, let's see what better prize I'll get tonight ? Hu ho there is a small pile of coins... you guessed it I got 5k

2 lap custom race at the Nurb 24 circuit in GT4 to do my daily mileage. It was a lot of fun so I think I'll just keep trying different cars at the N24 circuit.
Got a 4 start ticket that had an engine, a GT3 and 30k. No prizes for guessing what I got, the measly 30k!

Did wtc 600 a few times in my little fezza, then switched to wtc 700 in my Cayman. Had some serious anger management issues with the AI road block. Turned the PS off. Did some very aggressive weeding in the garden, went for a walk, had something to eat, then flew through the wtc 700. Clean race bonus on two of the races. Spent lots of lovely money on cars: NSX , Amuse s2000GT1, Aston Gr4, Mac 650S gr4.

Did a time trial around the Nurb for my daily. Got a muffler for the Amemiya RX7. Took this photo and that's all so far;

Edit: No idea what's up with the pixelation. Looks fine on my 4k TV. Must be GT7 site compression.

The Sun Also Rises - Expert Drifting. Tried 3 times today to gold the only mission still silver. 3 times today I've been in a seriously foul mood and still no gold. Bah.
