What have you done to your car today?

How much baffling is in the airbox? You might want to remove or cut that out too...

But it is rather amusing how much crap the factory uses to shut up the induction system, isn't it?

Putting a piece of pipe isn't always necessarily better.

Have you ever seen a stock Miata intake? It runs across the front of the engine to the other side, down 90 degrees into an airbox, out the bottom of the airbox next to the header and then a twisty pipe that takes it to the side of the engine bay. Very restrictive, but when we tried taking all of that crap off and just putting a tube and a filter, the car lost so much torque that it could literally just barely reach redline in first gear, and not at all in second.

Wouldn't that be the point where you slap a small turbo onto it?

The only way I could see a scenario like that happening is the ECU going "WTF???" and not knowing what to do...

Or the MAF not reading correctly.

Not because of a lack of restriction or something to that effect.

MustangGT90210: I know, I know... Baffling + resonator removal on a 4cyl Mazda 6 = pretty noise. And keeping up surprisingly well with a 3800 Impala

I've been thoroughly neglecting my car lately. I washed and vacuumed it last weekend.

I've spent a few evenings this week prepping my summer wheels for paint, and I got them into primer today. A bit of sanding will be required tomorrow, followed by primer and a couple colour coats of gloss black and possibly some clearcoat too.

I've got a parking brake cable sitting in the car to replace the broken one - Sunday, hopefully, and I've got to hunt down an electrical issue as well. I've got no reverse lights, and three dial lights for the heater controls are not working either. I suspect that they're related, but it's not a high priority to fix right now.

Replaced a burned out water pump on the S-10 today, that was harder than I thought it was going to be. Also replaced the radiator since there was a couple leaks in it. Started to work on the crossover for the exhaust but gave up since I'm sure I'll need a welder and my buddy who has one is out of town for the weekend. At least the truck is running better now and the temperature scale isn't off the bloody charts.

Once I get the exhaust in order I'll be good to go for the summer, it's been to cold to go fishing but in about a week or so it should be good.

I think I may be alone in this...but do any of you guys actually like the way your car looks dirty?

For some reason I prefer the look of my car when its dirty and dusty :odd:

Mine doesn't look bad when it's dirty - Hides all the rock chips.

But that's only when it's up-to-the-ski-resort dirty, and thus doesn't happen often.

IIRC there was once a time when you didn't want to do something mind numbingly simple to your Mini because you weren't mechanically inclined or something like that...

Replacing a water pump?

There is a bit of a difference between the MINI and the S-10. I know how to work on a 4.3L to a degree but the 1.6L in the MINI is beyond my knowledge completely. I am not mechanically inclined at all which is why I found the water pump to be a difficult thing to take apart, even though it is only four bolts. I don't want to work on my own vehicle but the S-10 is only half mine.

My dad was there helping me do all of this stuff, however he was basically showing me and telling me what to do so I could learn something. The S-10 is a junker and if I screw up it will be a bit of a pain but it won't be as catastrophic as if I mess up something on the MINI. I'm still under the impression though it is far easier to allow a trained professional fix my vehicles since I don't really know what I am doing, nor do I really enjoy it.

Replaced a parking brake cable in my Talon today... It was considerably more of a pain in the ass than what I thought it would be.

I was anticipating two hours, it took over three and a half. Should I ever come across an engineer from Eagle/Mitsubishi, I would be inclined to shoot them over the routing of the cable and haphazard placement of the brackets - Including one directly in line with the driveshaft carrier.

Those are long-range driving lights, great for driving on back roads at night! Figured I'd get some fog-lights to complete the setup.

The Van:
I changed my stock radio aerial antenna to a short rubber one ($6.50).
Replaced both windscreen wipers and the rear window wiper ($6.99 each).
Poured a bottle of RXP on a full tank of gas ($7.00 for the RXP and $36 for a full tank of petrol 18gal worth).

Yesterday I swapped the summer rubber & finished wheels on to the car. It looks rather sweet-ass.
I also went and stole a few trim peices off a friends' parts car, arranged to pick up an exhaust on Tuesday, and borrowed a mechanical boost guage (To be sure I'm not getting boost creep, then I'll return it until such point where I'm ready to drop a few hundred dollars on an AEM TruBoost).

much better :) different wheels but you get the idea, i only did the back as the fronts were not as corroded and reasonably ok. they arent perfect but itl do :)
also weight clips + tubeless tyres = not inflated for long, dunno what clever clogs thought that was a good idea! the tyres are perished anyway so will do something about that, which is a shame as they were brand new before the guy parked it!

Those wheels look awfully familiar. :D

Only mine are 16's. :D

Pics of your car with them on please? :D

just received an ams widemouth downpipe today for my evo x. to go along with my ultimate racing intercooler(4.5inch core) + pipes, ultimate racing hfc and cb exhaust that have been sitting in my garage.

Getting installed w/custom dyno tune on wednesday. These cars make ~250whp on a dynojet dyno, i wonder how much ill make after the install and tune.

Ill post the dyno after wednesday

89 :D it was imported 10 years ago, and i rode in it then! never thought id end up owning it lol
no vids yet, still trying to fix the mishaps and bodges from some rubbish mechanics :grumpy:

I went to roll my fenders today, only to find out I seem to have lost my wheel lock. Worst case scenario I left it on the lugnut and drove off with it on the wheel, and it fell off somewhere.

Found bits of clutch in the transmission of my mom's Mazda 6. With 37k miles. Fun.

Lucky as though, it's got a month of warranty left :scared:

REplaced the old MP3 player Radio transmitter with a new one. This one has no batteries to die, so I'm happy with it.
