Datsun 510 or a Land Rover Defender. Both are easily within reach, I just don't think I can justify a second money pit of a vehicle.

An obtainable dream car for me would have to be the Ford Focus RS500. The black paint will be a pain to clean I admit, but on good days I would enjoy driving it on decent roads in my area

I would also be happy with a Toyota GT86 as it's cheaper than the Focus and would be more fun on country roads despite sacrificing some practicality.

You know what can be had for a bit over 40 large these days?

Carrera 4S.

Or if 40 is too much to be "obtainable," then I guess a '93 C4 ZR1 (which can be around 30).

This with a rebuild 429ci Semi-Hemi V8 for low end torque and a different transmission as that Cruise-O-Matic is terrible when mated with this engine.

They never made a Boss 9 with a Auto.. They are all 4 speed only, and well over 100k in price these days.👍

Of course you could make one.👍 But the engine alone is not really easily obtainable (or cheap).👍 Nice car though.:D

I heard street Boss 429s had Cruise-O-Matics in it, as well as an optional 4 speed manual. One of the common complaints is that it slowed down the 1/4 mile times for the car and limited it's potential potency on the street. At least that's what I've heard from people that have tested them. I could be wrong though. That's what I always thought.

Also, last one I saw online went for $375,000 in mint condition. I'd like to restore one from a junkyard. Probably would be a lot cheaper.

Could be just that. I just always remember hearing that 429's had Cruise-O-Matics haha. Guess I'm wrong

EDIT:

Just remembered that the manual is a Top Loader. Ew. Got it confused with the Cruise O Matic because they are both crap lol

BMW E39 M5 for me, its just a car which i've allways wanted to own, the prices have dropped quite a bit too; with the release of the new M5.

I would love to have this car.

I get a little :nervous: when the price tag says "inquire". Original Hemi car .... Hmmmm, starting around $100K would be my guess. A bit out of my range.

I could however swing this one.

Or this one

My "obtainable" dream car has been sitting in my garage for three years, and I love it to pieces :D. I'll echo a few others and say that another dream car of mine is now obtainable: E39 M5. I drooled over that car in high school, and now one can be had for $25,000. Tempting, but I'd need a three-car-garage though .

The thread tittle says obtainable dude. Please.

Getting a numbers matching Boss 9 really isn't that hard....just look around for a long time and eventually you'll come across it. No one ever said you had to be able to run right out and get it now. =P

I owned a 2003 model between 2005 and 2008. To me its the ultimate Q-Car. I'd love to own another one, even if it means replacing almost all engine to get rid of the abominably unreliable engine auxillaries.

A BMW 320d E90 or a Volvo S60 T5.

That's in some 5 years to come. Strange for the first time that I'm liking a Volvo but I've driven one and I feel good in it... :)

Hard, no not hard....Just not cheap:sly: I guess it depends how you determine what obtainable means.. Financially obtainable, or whether I can find it spare no expense.

Money was what I understood the O.P to mean by "obtainable".👍

EDIT: well CANO used less words.:sly: But yes...That 👍

Yeah. I mean I know you can find them, but it's a different thing altogether being able to pay a real 429 is like, riiight... heck, even being able to pay JUST THE ENGINE is like riiiight...

1st Gen Viper GTS Coupe has been the car I've wanted for as long as I can remember. Although, now I've been seeing quite a few Viper SRT-10 coupe's for the same price as my C6 and it's tempting....

Right now I'm hoping to get a BMW Z4 M Coupe once I get my career going. I've seen some for under $30K so it just might happen by the time I'm actually able to buy another car.

Then there's the E90-92 M3... not sure which of these I like best, but if I can't fit in the Z4 I have my answer

Yes the price is rather high but it's definitely not "out of the question". THe price I said was the most they've ever gone fo. Like play said, most are around $80-$100k Which if you really think about it, over time that's not that tough to pay for. No one said we had to pay for it in one sitting, or as we speak, but therefore I think it's fair to say that it's an obtainable car.

Funny you raise that point. There's a guy in a town about 20 miles from where I live that has an actuall Boss 429 engine in his garage. He restores cars with one of my teachers at school, as he was the one who tipped me off about it. The car he doesn't own but he bought the motor many years ago and hasn't used it. Said it does run however. I don't know where the guys lives though. The story behind it was that the car is was in was wrecked and they pulled it from a Junk yard down south. That was back in the '80s.
