The Da Vinci Code - I really liked this one. It was kind of controversial, due to the religious tone of this movie, especially with the Catholics. But if you just accept it as a fictional tale, you'll start to see it as a better version of Nicholas Cage's "National Treasure". :sly:

I want to give this movie a "B-", but I do have to deduct some points for those "hard to believe" parts in the plot. So I should give a "C", but plot was somewhat epic, plus the casting of Ian McKellen, Jean Reno, Alfred Molina and that Captain from Das Boot do deserve extra points. I'd give it a "B-"

Great movie. Did you catch the bonus feature on that gun shop owner?

Sorry I didn't catch this sooner.
Umm, no. But when we watched it, it was already late, so we didn't have time.
It was awsome though.:D I started to have dreams about the game "Dead Rising" which is just like "Dawn of the Dead" in every way.👍

That's cool. I have heard of that game. If I ever got Xbox 360, that would be the first game I'd buy. 👍

World Trade Center - We watched this last night, it wasn't bad. Moved a bit slow at times and that Marine guy was a little weird but I liked the movie overall. I guess I liked it because they focused the story on those two cops who survived and their families, which was something I hadn't seen yet, it gave me a new perspective of this tragedy.

Final Destination 3 - This film is really entertaining. I remember when watching it at the cinema thinking how quick it went & it does that on 2nd viewing as well. It's by no means a "good" film. There is lots wrong with it & it's sooo cliche'd, but its really good fun to watch. Better than the 2nd, but not as good as the 1st. (I like the giant **** up, of the guy with the camera getting off the roller coaster, when his camera was the thing that started the crash!)
8/10

Aeon Flux - That movie was pretty aweful. I enjoyed watching it tho (& it wasnt for Charlize, i hate her).

Ha ha I love the deaths in that movie, I'm sorry death scenes always makes me laugh during movies. I'm always the one in the theatre laughing when everyone else is disgusted... The death scene where Erin? I think got nailed with the nail gun was awesome.

Final Destination 2 I think is my favorite. It has that epic car crash scene on the freeway. :D I should get that on DVD. Very fun movie.

I finally saw King Kong last night, and I really liked it - I'd heard it was far too long, but I enjoyed the slow build up, and felt that it added to the atmosphere of the film. I was never a huge fan of the original, but this lovingly-made update, especially by a true master of filmmaking Peter Jackson, was a joy to watch. Even my dislike for the grin-meister Jack Black was not enough to put me off this film - indeed, the element of subtle humour throughout the film just added to the film overall... I also liked the deliberate nod to/pisstake of the film 'Titanic' (when they are filming Anne Darrow on the ship before they reach Skull Island) with Jack Black almost weeping at how 'beautiful' the scene is... Great stuff, definitely be on my shopping list :)

Scoop - The only reason i watched this was because of the beautiful Miss Johansen. But i was pleseantly suprised, especially as i am not a fan of Woody Allen. This starts off as one strange film, but was really good fun in the end. Woody was actually (mostly) really funny and Scarlett was lovely. Those glasses made her smoking hot i thought. I think i prefered Match Point, but still good.
7/10

I stand by not liking Woody Allen. Scoop has still not been released in England yet cause he's apparently demanding to much money. I don't quite get how that works. And the DVD's have no extras, not even a 5.1 surround sound track!

just watched welcome to the jungle.
i actually liked it more than i though i would. not much more though. the rock gives me the ****s

Narnia - I new i wouldn't like this, even before i saw it. I just never like these fantasy/epic films. But i wasn't expected to be this bored and to hate so many things about it. I mean all the lead children except for the little girl were utterly utterly terrible. It was far to long. The CGI was inconsistent. Sometimes good (the lion), sometimes appaling (the fox/hyena thing), but sometimes just unecesary (is it that hard to get a few real woves/huskies). Oh and Micheal Madsen was completely wasted.
I did like Ray Winstone's Mr Beaver & Tilda Swanton. Also a couple of brief scenes in the battle at the end were good. Overall i can't say i was dissapointed, just not my thing.
5/10

Casino It seems to me they cut out all the really gross and graphic scenes, like the eye popping out, the baseball bat scene and maybe a few others.

I first saw this movie when it first came out on DVD. It had more graphic scenes then, I remember. Does HBO edit movies for content, or did these scenes get "toned down" by the studio?

Usually HBO is pretty raw. I mean, they broadcast softcore porn after 10pm. Maybe you saw the directors cut?

No, that's Showtime. HBO only shows R rated movies and TV shows.

I thought it was odd those scenes were missing, but figured the studio cut them out of the original version. It happened with Robo Cop. When it was first released, it showed more of the guys hand being blown apart. That scene is now less graphic.

EDIT: Actually, HBO does show the occasional "sex" topic program. But, it's not a soft core porn movie.

A few years back when I had cable tv I remember watching a documentary about penis on HBO, and there were a bunch of them being showed on it. It wasn't very late too, 10pm at most.

Was it puppetry of the penis? That was a good one.

I can't remember the name, it was about the size of penis and techniques some men used to change its size and thickness.

I watched my friend's "Million Dollar Baby" DVD last night. What a movie. 👍👍👍

It has decent action, great acting and drama. But what really surprised me like a left hook was the comedy in this film. Some of the exchanges between Clint Eastwood and Morgan Freeman, or Hilary Swank were just classic. I was laughing my ass off when Eastwood and Freeman were discussing Freemans socks.

You put 10 mediocre Hollywood comedies and it will not be as funny as this film. Truly a must see. I'd give it a "A-".

I agree, the playing off between the three main charactes was awesome in Million dollar baby, but also the drama was great. Overall the film just worked so well imo.

Cars - Not bad. This movie looks great on a big screen, surround sound was really good also. Animation I thought was spectacular. Especially liked the designs and the lighting. If you don't mind the kiddie storyline, you should rent this one. "B-".

Eastwood and Freeman are good together in Unforgiven too. though maybe not as funny as some of the lines in million dollar baby, i'm sure there were some funny bits but i cant remember them right now.

Legend Of Zorro - Not as bad all the reviews made out, in fact it was pretty damn entertaining. It's to long & there is some shoddy cgi but it was a good fun film. Catherine Zeta Jones is lovely!
7/10 (1st hour) 6/10 (2nd hour)

You didn't happen to watch it on Sky just a few hours ago did you? I've jsut seen it and I'd agree, it's not actually a very good film but it was entertaining, which is sometimes all you need. I wasn't expecting a deep and technical plot and gripping suspense or anything like that.

I have that one on DVD. I didn't laugh watching it, but still is a classic. 👍

I don't know, Dave. I mean, critics puts the movie down, 555 is giving it thumbs up. Isn't that pretty much every reason to avoid that movie? Just kidding 555. :P Don't hurt me!

Amadeus: Director's Cut 1080i HD; CinemaScope(2.35:1) Different vibe than the original. More detailed about what a desperate man he was, financially. I like the original better, because it's the one I fell in love with first and I think it flows better.

By no means, do I think this version is bad; just longer and different. Excellent movie, and everyone should at least watch it once.

I think i can avoid hurting you a6m5............. Yep avoided.
I did happen to just watch it on Sky. The 1st premiere i have watched in months (i usually own most of them).
Films that get slaughtered by "critics" often end up being quite entertaining, i think mainly because were expecting them to be crap & they end up being pleasently suprising.

That does tend to happen. I hope to catch that movie to see for myself.
