Yeah, for a film that good it should be more. When it comes to re-watching films, I usually re-watch films that are closer to 2 hours, because of time constraints. I'd normally rather watch a film I haven't seen yet. So really for a 2 hour as and 45 minuet film, Heat's doing very well on re-watchability for me. It's probably only second to Aliens, which I've seen many more times than Heat, but I wouldn't say it's a better film, I've just had it in my collection a hell of a lot longer.

I also love "Heat", but I've also probably seen it 5, 6 times. It's a treat everytime though. 👍

We watched "The Holiday" at the movie theater last night. I think it was quite alright. Some lol moments and a good acting from the cast in general. My girlfriend loved it and she wants to watch it again, big surprise. :)

It was the holidays with family...

Devil Wears Prada ---- 3/10

Only reason it was remotely interesting was because I like the brunette but even then she sold out and became the fashion victim. I'll be generous.

The Break up ---- 0/10

 Yeah.. obviously this movie isn't good to show during the holidays and they proved it. Even if it wasn't the holidays they skipped EVERYTHING at went straight to the drama. WTF, would I want to put myself though this?? I can already get this daily by viewing family or friends, sometimes even going outside. There's also soaps or I could take a shot gun and shoot my foot off and it would be slightly better. Oh, I never did like Jen and now I hate her even more, Vince I did't think was bad but he just screwed up even thinking of doing this movie in the first place.

Come here! I'm gonna slap you! :D I thought Break Up was above average, maybe pretty good. Jennifer Aniston is wonderful. Everybody knows that!

"Young Guns" A fun little story. Gotta love how that 80's music fits with a cowboy movie. Lady_DA had never seen it.

This weekend, provided Lady_DA recovers from her cold, we'll go see "Night at the Museum". I'm not looking forward to it, as the reviews have been "Night at the museum? I'd rather take 2 hours in hell."

Young guns is great. I've got them both on DVD, last watched them both a week or so back.

Watched 36 Quai des Orfèvres today, very good film, hailed as the French version of Heat, but to be honest there is only one scene that's similar and the rest is just about two cops that have a past and want the same job.

I wont go into specifics but its defiantly worth watching if you are able to rent.

I watched a movie called "Pulse". In the beginning, it involves bunch of kids killing themselves. That was kinda funny, because for about the first hour or so, movie is so bad, you start looking around for a razor blade yourself.

It had one thing going for it, however. You know in movies like the Ring, or Friday the 13th, small numbers of people are hunted/haunted, and they die. SPOILER AHEAD In this movie, just about everybody is killed, like in the whole world. Character in the movie calls "911"(emergency response), but dispatch center's all empty, because they are all dead or have ran. For few minutes when this is revealed, it was somewhat entertaining, but it falls apart just in time for the end. Acting was pretty bad, too. I would avoid it at all cost. "F"

I also have the Young Guns movies on DVD. They are movies from when I was a kid. What can I say! :sly: Too bad to hear about the Night at the Museum. I was looking forward for it to come out.

I'm gonna have to find me a copy. Clip is very intense, and I had to stop it in the middle, so I can watch everything on the DVD, once I rent it. 👍

French films are just so good. DVDs like the Crimson Rivers(Jean Reno), Nest, Brotherhood of the Wolf are some of my favorites. I hate their politics, but I sure would love to be able to speak their language. :D

I have Crimson Rivers on DVD also, its not too bad, I've always had a passion for French cinema since watching a French film called Clubbed to death about underground clubbing the slums of Paris, very cool film.

A Scanner Darkly ---- 1/10

Just saw it and well... good lord Reeves sucks ass outside of the Matrix (no pun intended, although kinda ironic too). I was interested in it because of the unique toon effect they added but geez a Jet Li movie while just as pointless has at least pointless action in it.

clip from movie :D

Kinda funny 50 people vs. 3 and they still lost. xD

Warrior King - i hate that title, why couldn't they keep the proper title Tom Yum Goong. Anyway, this is the best martial arts film ever FACT! This is the 1st time i have seen it and been able to read what was going on through half of it (i didnt have a DVD with subs). But it makes no difference. The plot may as well not be there.
Am also pretty sure the makers of this like Tekken.
10/10 for action

DWA you've liked lots of films recently havent you. Although i do agree with Devil Wears prada, why everyone likes that films i beyond me!

Yeah, if it wasn't for my Video iPod... I don't think I would've gotten into this Video revolution as much. with that said I do want to make it clear I'm not a fan of Apple but for the moment the iPod unfortunately is the best form factor for video and why I call it a Video player not an iPod. To prove this I only have 700mb of music on it the ret is Video. :)

BTW, I'm open to any suggestions for movies too. I'm trying to catch up from the last few decades. :dopey:

Yeh I liked it, but I don't think its as good as "ong bak". got both BTW :D

Well Christmas brought me a decent haul of DVDs.

  • Blade Runner - Directors Cut
  • Lady Vengeance
  • The Proposition
  • Inside Man

Blade Runner is one of all time favourite films and while I've been holding out for a descent DVD release (this one has bugger all extra's) as a pressie its as great as ever. Inside Man was I have to say better than I expected, very predicatable but enjoyable non the less.

The Proposition and Lady Vengeance I have not yet got around to watching, but both do look good (and I did enjoy Old Boy)

BTW - Glad to hear of more fans of French cinema, its been a love of mine for many years, if you have not seen them, the following are worth a look.

The Big Blue
Nikita
Taxi
La Haine
City of the Lost Children
Delicatessen

I would also recommend Ghostdog, while it is a (mainly) English language film, it was part funded by French studio Canel+ and is very much a French 'style' film and a nice introduction to anyone put off by subtitles (and a damn good film as well).

Taxi and Nikita are very good films. I love Ghostdog, that is a brilliant film.

I never liked Ong-Bak that much, thought it was very over-rated. But i could see the potential which is why i tried Tom Yum Goong (warrior king). Apart from the chase/fight sequence down the alley, i wouldn't have called any of the fights in Ong-bak phenominal, but in Warrior King they are. The 4 minute one shot sequence is technically amazing. And the tekken inspired break dancing bloke was class.

Yeh I got Ghostdog the day it came out, very underated film in my eyes. I also love the Taxi series and city of the lost children

Yeh i liked the tekken inspired scene, don't get me wrong I loved Tom Yum Goong, but I prefer Ong Bak I think it was the wow factor of the stunts, and TYG was similar stuff, I also love Shaolin soccer and Kung Fu Hustle

On my list of recently-viewed movies:

1) Jackass Two: Yes, I've managed to get myself down to that level again, and by-golly it feels good. I'm a sucker for these low-brow comedies, and I'm not sure why. You pretty much laugh from start to finish, and although a good number of the stunts are particularly disgusting (one involves a horse, the other a leech), others are absolutely hilarious... To the point where I was nearly crying I was laughing so hard.

But, the first Jackass Movie was better. The second felt as though they were trying a bit too hard at times, and kinda got away from what made the group so popular to begin with. At best, the movie deserves at least a recommendation for a rental, but if you like these movies, it is worth buying. I've watched it twice in the past three or four days, and it makes me want to go back out and buy the show DVDs from a few years back...

(I miss Jackass on TV...)

2) Clerks II: If there has ever been a film to mirror the ways in which different generations have been accepted in life, the Clerks series has always been one to fit the mold here in America. If you haven't seen the first Clerks movie, do it now... You're missing out. Clerks II picks up 10 years after the first left-off, and seems to tie the characters and their lives together a bit more than ever before.

As a fan of the "Askewniverse" movies, I may be a bit biased. But when it comes down to it, Clerks II was right up my alley. It matched my sense of humor quite well, echoed conversations that friends and I have on a consistent basis, and altogether kinda promotes the feelings that I have towards life at its current state.

Don't see the movie if you haven't seen Clerks, you'll miss-out on a lot of stuff. To be honest, it helps to have seen most of the "Askewniverse" movies (Clerks, Mall Rats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back), but Clerks and Clerks II are arguably the best of the bunch...

I think I'm going to rent the Big Blue and City of the Lost Children. City of the Lost Children, I came so close to renting many times over last decade or so. I think I'll finally rent it. Taxi was by Luc Besson, I think? It is still not yet released in the U.S. :grumpy: I'm probably going to have to get the region-free version on eBay.

I used to own Ghostdog on DVD. There was definitely something different about that film. Involvement of French studio explains everything. :D

Agreed, excellent movie.

And yes, it's best to watch the first movie first, otherwise you miss alot of the in-jokes.

Pillow Pants!

The Big Blue is an excellent film in my opinion, but its far from conventional. Plot is almost non-existent as its more of character study of the two free drivers it centres around. Great looking film and interesting, but I freely admit its not for everyone.

City of the Lost Children is wonderful and I strongly recommend it, as I also do with La Haine, an essential piece of film.

I have the first two of the Taxi films and while light-hearted they are great fun, I've yet to see the third and hope to never have to watch the remake.

Ghostdog is a weird film alright, its an English language film, shot in a very French manner (and please don't ask me to describe that - LOL) and with a sparsity of dialogue more commonly found in Japanese film.

i watched Cleopatra on tv a few days ago, the 1963 (i think) one with liz taylor. i missed the first hour and last half hour but i really liked it. i have other things that i need to throw money at for a little while but when i get the chance, i'm going to buy it.

Our New Year Triple Header:

Superman Returns - I thought I'd have liked it more. Special effects were really fake looking, actors were below average, direction I thought were uninspired. I wasn't a Superman fan, and I don't know if that was a good or bad thing. If I was actually a fan, I might've been offended. "C-"

Beerfest - I'm a fan of Broken Lizard(group that made this movie), and a HUGE fan of Super Troopers. While this was miles better than Club Dread, I don't think it will be the cult hit that Super Troopers has become. I know they are working on the Super Troopers prequel. I'd be surprised if they can ever achieve that level of hilariousness again. :P Should be a C+, but I like the cast, so = "B-"

Wicker Man = Umm, yeah.... "D-"

Today I watched Thirteen Days, again. That film is in my top 10 of all time, anyone who can enjoy a political thriler should see this.

The Matador - quite a strange film this. I like it and it has some very funny bits, but overall its only "good" nothing more. Pierce is Very good & shows there is life after Bond. But didn't seem as good as i remember it being.
6/10
