What tracks could you live WITHOUT in GT5?

I think it's very simple, 20 tracks and 70 layouts (reverse, short course and so on).

Everything else is just wishful thinking. Since when number of circuits is given in the number of countries they are located?? This will only lead to disappointment.

20 tracks is not bad if we get the right ones... here's hoping for Spa, and along with Nordschleife, Monaco, Le Mans, Daytona, Indianapolis... I think it's a good selection.

... sounds like wishful thinking also, but its this wishful thinking that keeps are minds a buzz while waiting for the ever taking GT5 release .

^^^ I gotta ask, how do you not enjoy the awesomeness that is Suzuka? I can see maybe not liking it with the lower powered cars...but The F2007 on Suzuka in GT5:P is too awesome for me to give up.

I've not played Prologue much and don't have the F2007 yet, so i can't comment on it's awsomeness around there, i'll take your word for it. ;)

It's one of those tracks that i love if i manage to get a clean lap in. But invariably i'll run wide at one corner and end up in the kitty litter. It just seems to happen at this circuit more than any other for some reason :boggled:

Yes, but it was 20 locations and 70 layouts, not 20 tracks and 70 layouts. There is a destinction between the two I'm afraid. This is where the confusion as lept in. I still think its locations, as in countries, perhaps GT fantasy tracks like Trial mountain will come under a PD location?

EDIT - Red rock valley with this badboy FTW!

I could live without:
George/Opera Paris
Tsukuba
Hong Kong
Seoul City
New York
All the rally circuits from past games (although Chamonix is a good challenge)
Fuji - all variations
Motorland/Beginner's Course
Citta d'Aria

I can't believe people are wanting to take out Le Mans, Suzuka, The 'Ring and Monaco though! Excellent tracks.

In terms of the 20/70 issue, I agreed with the tracks in each country initially and still believe it is the most logical explanation. Fictional GT tracks might be counted as one location? Edit - As ST-2 mentioned just above

Fact:
GT4 prologue had 5 tracks.
GT4 had 34 tracks

Hmm, now that I think of it again, it seems rather unrealistic if:
GT5 prologue: 6 tracks
GT5: 70 tracks.

This is where the confusion as lept in. I still think its locations, as in countries, perhaps GT fantasy tracks like Trial mountain will come under a PD location?

It's very likely, as the HSR in GT5P is under a PD flag.

Isn't that Midfield?

^ Going by those numbers & logic, GT5 should have at least 40 unique track venues.

34/5 = 6.8
6.8*6 = 40.8

Why? In GT5P, you have:

5 locations & 12 variations
- United Kingdom - London & London Reverse
- Switzerland - Eiger & Eiger Reverse
- America - Daytona oval & Daytona infield
- Japan - Suzuka, Suzuka East, Fuji w/o hairpin and Fuji with hairpin
- Gran Turismo - High speed ring and High speed ring reverse

So in GT5, already you have confirmed:

6 locations & 14 variations
- United Kingdom - London & London Reverse
- Switzerland - Eiger & Eiger Reverse
- America - Daytona oval & Daytona infield
- Japan - Suzuka, Suzuka East, Fuji w/o hairpin, Fuji with hairpin andTokyo R235
- Gran Turismo - High speed ring and High speed ring reverse
- Germany - Nurburgring

I can definitely live without the Seoul circuit. So dull.

Would you do with out it because of the dullness or the challenge? I don't see Seoul as a difficult track it's just lackluster and boring, though it does have fun turns ans straights.

Unless of course you don't count Fuji, Suzuka and Tokyo as the same location. In which case you'd have 8 locations and 6 or 15 variations (depending on how you define the term).

But why wouldn't you count Fuji, Suzuka and Tokyo in the same location, they're all in Japan.

Anyway, I've created a master track list thread, so lets see if we can see how many tracks we have already.

They're all in the world. That's 1 location.

See the problem? We do not know the size of these locations.

They're in Japan yes, one world location is Japan, but the 3 tracks aren't all at the same place.

Humm, yeah... well, it seems the most logical to me. Truth is, none of us have any idea what he mean't. God, KY, why can't you speak English... Jeez :sly:

Even if he did, you'd still have the same problem. We're all getting worked up about the meaning of the word 'location' - an English word.

Ok, good! Now is there an official track listing floating about or are they all forums, rumors, and speculation?

Neither. It's based on what's in the game now, what we have seen in screenshots, what KY has confirmed, and yes, my opinion.

Still, I'll be happy if you can get back to me with an offical list of 70 unique tracks when the game is released (and without monaco and la sarthe for example :))

I'm looking for a track list but I'm starting to think the real deal list will not be avail until the GT5 release or close to the release.

High Speed Ring. Since the physics were drastically improved in GT3 (although it wasn't in that game), i find its just not a fun track anymore.

I would much prefer Special Stage route 11, that was one of the most challenging for me on GT1, and i want to experience that challenge with the new physics engine. I would also love to have Red Rock Valley Speedway back. Some say it was similar to HSR, but i disagree, i thought it was much better, ther corners varied a lot more.

HSR just doesn't do it for me. Nice scenery, but its just a bland track, all the corners are too similar. On GT1 it was a beginners track, but i must admit HSR on professional physics is 10x harder than Suzuka in prologue. I loved it in GT1 & 2 but its lost its appeal since then.

The High Speed ring yes came back a little different in GT4, but I felt they redeemed it greatly visualy and physically on GT5P. SS11 was never a challenge what made it difficult on GT1 or GT2 was the poor or early engineering of GT1 compared to lets say GT4 or GT5P.

Fuji Speedway 80's and 90's
All Twin Ring Motegi
Ice Arena
Tahiti Maze
Apricot Hill Raceway
Autumn Ring
Opera Paris
Seoul Central

It was a challenge for me in GT1 because i was only 8 years old, and i was using the D-pad :D

I have an urge to go on GT1. Infact i think i will... if i can find the CD

Basically, just Complex String. I think every track in GT history has something to commend it. Eh... even CS. ;)

LoL, I was 11 going on 12. Clubman Stage 5 and Special Stage Rt. 5 and 11 were easier then lets say the original Trail Mountain and Deep Forest Raceway. I also liked the 3 night tracks for just that they were nighttime tracks. I did start out on the d-pad however when I saw a friends replay of his Viper on GT1 High Speed Ring moving so smoothly. I asked how and he said analog sticks I've been using them ever since.

Idk, Complex String needs to make a comeback. I loved taking my GT-R's out there, ah memories... another GT without Complex String is just doggone :scared:!
