Or that you have to use certain machinery or components in order to compete. Which they absolutely do.
Your analogy doesn't hold up because there is that understanding going in that these are the rules you compete by. Here, however, console exclusivity means that half the grid is disqualified by default simply because they had committed to the hardware before the rules were written. Had they known that this program was going to be created, it might have influenced them at the time of purchase, but for many people like me, there was no knowledge at the time and changing consoles simply isn't an option.

I think it's adorable that you think that the FIA will care.

It's highly possible GT7 will have everything we'd like and more seeing as Ps4 is at least 8 - 10 times more powerful than the Ps3.

im buying it regardless, but the sound could definitely be improved. it should sound more realistic. also should have a bit more visual customizations available/ and wider wheels.:gtpflag:

The main things that I hope will be showcased on GT7 are :

1. A stronger selection of vintage cars (The Audi V16 is pretty much the only representation this era currently has)
2. Bring back the Race Modify option from GT2 which allows for so much more explorative tuning
3. More cars from niched manufacturers (Koenigsegg, Covini, Spyker, Marcos, Lister etc.)
4. More specific genre tuning (Drag radial tyres, jacked up rally suspension, extended angle steering rack for drifting etc.)
5. Much improved and non-generic car sounds (and not just driving exhaust note - I'm talking dump valves, idle burbles, louder straight cut gear whine etc.)

First and foremost, welcome to the 'Planet. We have cake*.

In the future remember to capitalize and use punctuation where necessary, and that's pretty much it because you're golden otherwise.

*The cake is always a lie. Do not fall for it. Ever.

More modern "boring" cars like the new Dodge Dart, Any Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Hyundai Elantra, Fiat Panda etc. This is what made GT4 a must buy for me.

*Other - shuffle racing and bring back GT4 UI.

For me this is a simple question

It will have to be fantastic game in it's own right
Have a great career mode off-line
No standard cars
Great AI

The days when i would buy Gran Turismo simply because it is Gran Turismo evaporated with GT5 and GT6

Please help me understand why there are objections to having standard cars? Hundreds of GTP'ers state this but not one has convinced me over the last 3 years that STD Cars are a bad thing. Maybe we should start a poll:

PROPOSED POLL QUESTION: For those that object to GTS or GT7 having Std Cars, what is your reason?:

1) I am offended that PD is going to sell a game that includes assets they created 10 years ago and that I already paid for 10 years ago.
2) PD needs to focus their resources on other areas of GT7 that have been lacking in prior releases, so spending any amount of resources to add STD. Cars will lower the overall content quality of other parts of GT7.
3) I like to race using in-cockpit view mode so a black, lifeless silhouette dilutes the immersive experience for me.
4) It will make the UI more complicated for me and I don't want to spend the extra time needed to navigate around all those crappy STD. cars.
5) They will take up space in my garage for the cars I personally want.
6) I don't have a good reason, I just don't want them.
7) Other

Would detractors accept STD. cars if there was a "one click" option so you could completely hide them and their availability in your personal game? Or is their objection more complicated than that?

.

I'll take other for $1000 Alex. If I shell out hundreds of dollars for a new console, a new wheel to use with that console,
and the game, I want the entire thing top to bottom to look like it belongs on the PS4.

I would like to see more diesels. The r10 tdi and r18 are great, the 120d is good.I would like ot see the 335d also..and vw gtd,and others.the game is amazing..also..make the rally section more realistic.it has always been somewhat off.I do rallycross with local car clubs, and do well.I think if the rally section, was more like real rally..the dirt was slicker, the cars responded more lifelike..also,v8 cars..sound more like the engine should in real life..corvettes,in gran turismo 6 are well repped..but ehy sound like hondas, when you put exhaust mods on them.why is this, this is wrong.a camaro should not sound like a honda..this is not right.overall, the game is great.but it dose has some downfalls.v8 cars are good.why does PORSCHE not exist on gt? I know need for speed has the name rights i guess.but i woudl love to see porsche there.i rahter like the 993,914,and carrera gt.more diesels,PORSCHE,and more realistic rally.really..the audi quattro on gt6 is great.but why does the five banger sound funny?

A lot of standard cars are important for me, so it's not about whether they are not premium, but the car themselves is what matters to me ( most of them are important to me from many different aspect from history, diversity, and iconic models ) . I actually wanted all cars from GT1 to GT5 that were missing in GT6 to return in the next GT. I would call them legacy cars in separate listing dealership ( 2 dealership icon, one for premium and one for legacy cars ), so those who do no want to see these legacy cars can do so and people like me who valued the cars ( not the visual appearance only ) can enjoy all of them. Everyone happy, or if that's not enough, upon first starting the game 1st time, there will be a prompt to confirm whether the player wanted access to legacy cars, if the players do not want the legacy cars, simply answer no and legacy cars icon will not be displayed at all. The only way to access it is to go to special option tab and enable the legacy cars access manually.

I think PD should use the term Legacy cars :P  Put it as a feature on the back cover, Special Access Legacy Cars from older GT that can be disabled. Just my preference :D

The problem isn't just the standard cars (and tracks) existing, even though that's a large part of it. There's also the effect that they have on the design of the game and other choices that are made.

For example, if you want the game to be playable without standard cars, then the selection of premium cars needs to be such that there's at least enough to be able to populate each single player race with only premiums. That then influences the single player design, and the selection of which cars need to be made premium.

If you're going to have a mode that offers only high quality assets, it's not as simple as taking something like GT6 and locking out all the standard stuff. The game would be a mess. It needs to be designed to be accessable with only high quality assets from the beginning, and then standard cars thrown in as an extra.

Which is why people like me are advocates of including standards as free DLC, or any other method of partitioning them off. Because it means that they're then available to anyone who wants them (and there's a reasonable amount of people who are vocal that they do), but it also means that Polyphony has to make sure that the game is actually playable (and fun) without them.

Make it opt in, not opt out, and you'll get my vote. Opt out means that the game is still fundamentally designed around standard cars. Opt in means that it isn't.

As I said before, legacy cars are sort of add on that you can enable or disable under options :) Still, I'd rather have PD update all the old cars ( std ) to premium level ( at least at level of detail like in Pcars ) if possible :)

My idea was legacy cars as additional bonus cars that can be used at user discretion, so it won't affect single player experience.

If the user didn't enable the legacy cars, the user won't ever see these cars in any gameplay modes.

While there's a lot of historically important and just generally interesting cars in there, there's a lot of drek that was simply included because they were everyday driver type cars of the time. Those times have past, and if you're going to spend time and money to make a premium model of a car that's not currently produced then it becomes pretty tough to make a reasonable argument for say, a 2003 Micra over any of the cars that were more influential, more popular, or just plain more interesting.

An '03 Micra made sense in 2005 when that body was still being sold new. In 2015, it's a random car with no particular heritage, lineage or innovation. I'm sure that there are people who would love to have it in, but I think you make more people happy by including just about anything else than an '03 Micra. And there are probably a lot of cars that wouldn't make the cut, if you go into the list with the mindset of having to justify them versus what else the time could be spent on.

While I'd love to see a lot of the standards made premium, because there's a lot of good stuff in there, some of it just needs to GTFO and never come back.

That sort of cars can stay std , while the precious ones can be premium. So, these scraps are only for those who don't mind looking at pixelated cars with black interiors but still appreciate how these ordinary box litter cars drive, like me :D  Of course, this is only to save PD resources and time., but I don't mind if these cars gone, if that's what PD chose, can't help it.

* Improved core game play
* More tracks
* Other; more sim. Preferably a full blown simulation with the choice of simcade options to make it accesible for everybody.

I hope they don't leave them out, some of my favorite cars to drive are standard.

Wouldn't you rather they made those cars premium?
Big time! If you ask me if I want the cars that don't get premium treatment to be left out then no. I rather them come back as standard models, obviously cleaned up much as possible. In the end the standards gave me the opportunity to experience more cars which I enjoyed in GT6. So as you said if they could make majority of the cars premium I'm all in, but you and me know this wont be the case.

But do you actually want them to spend any time on cars that have no historical, iconic, engineering, social, or any other relevant sort of value? The example above being the '03 Micra, which was presumably only included in GT4 because it was a currently sold model at the time, but is not in 2015.

The point being that it's a waste to spend any time on such a car, and no one in their right mind would waste six months making it a premium when there are so many hundreds of better choices available, starting with a 2016 Micra.

So the choice is putting a PS2 quality '03 Micra straight into a PS4 game, or leaving it out. Putting it in immediately brings the graphical quality of the game down, for minimal benefit because the car itself is so unremarkable. Whereas leaving it out hurts basically no one, and is one less thing for naysayers to point to and say "Jesus Christ, Polyphony, you're still doing this 🤬?".

I am no one to say what car is important and which isn't we all have our unique style when it comes to cars. For example I bought the highest version of FM6 for the DLC. While everybody loves the car packs I have not been interested in any. They haven't come with any cars to my liking. This doesn't mean they are not important or good cars, I am glad people love the DLC It makes the community thrive. We all have our unique car list we favor. That's why I was interested to see everybody's opinion on battle of the garages.

I agree with you big time about the 03 Micra I don't care about that car at all, however their might be someone who does. I have met people online who enjoy cars in GT6 that I would never imagine, and I guess that's why I like GT6 so much. Their is so much variety, and even though many people hate the standards for me they give me a better gaming experience even though they have flaws. As for naysayers that doesn't really bother me at all people are going to find stuff to complain about regardless. I'm going to play and enjoy my games regardless. I come on GTPlanet to learn from you guys and meet new people online to have a good time.
