It also needs to be mentioned: there's already a very similar Premium Micra (sort of): the March 12SR '07.

While I'm sure there are people out there that might, for reasons unknown to many of us, enjoy the '03 Micra, I'd definitely not miss it if it were to never show up in a future iteration of GT. One could make the argument it wouldn't need the usual six months to be given the Premium treatment, since the '07 March exists, but I'd sincerely hope it was roughly 800th in the priority list of cars to be brought up to modern standards.

Diff'rent strokes and all that, but I really do hope no Standards see the light of day on the PS4. They don't improve my gaming experience at all, given their limited options, and would paint a huge target on GT/PD's backs for the critics. It'd be much nicer to see a game come out that has nothing but the absolute best PD can do given the PS4's power, and relegate the PS2 assets to the annals of history. From what little we've seen of the new stuff, it looks fantastic, and I think PD would be better suited having that with no little asterisk that signifies only a portion of the game actually looks that way. Dropping the hunt for big numbers just for the sake of big numbers would be a step in the right direction, IMO.

As usual you make great points slip to back up your point. I understand what your coming from big time, my problem with leaving the standards completely out is I still rather have the driving experience with the car itself. I could only imagine if they left out the standards in GT6 it would not be the same for me. I recently just found a new love for the Nismo 400R which is a standard car. Yea it has flaws because its a standard, but at the end of the day playing online with my bro on the Ring with the 400R brings me joy. I guess we will see what's up soon.

It's not going anywhere in the previous games though, you can drive that to your hearts content in three games. Most games in genres that follow on don't let you to use the same things over and over again with each game, there is nothing that says a racing game has to either.

Games move on, things change, things get added, things get removed. You get over it pretty quickly, or go back and play the old game if you don't.

Other games are going nowhere. Go play your heart out!

I really don't get what your trying to say here not to be disrespectful. I want to drive my 400R in the next GT title whether it's premium or standard.

It's just like how Forza 6 doesn't feature the RUFs and other cars like the Camaro ZL1 anymore, but they'll always be there in the older Forza games for me and others to play around with. If they're gone in the newer games, they're gone, but not entirely gone as I said above.

This is exactly the reason why GT games are always so inconsistent in certain areas, especially the car list which suffers the whole "premium and standard" thing, and now "semi-premium". Besides, what do the standard cars even serve anyways? For me, it's nothing more but to boost the car number up and boast about having more cars than any other racing game...

The things you want aren't as important for undisclosed ("it's my opinion!") reasons.

 Besides, what do the standard cars even serve anyways? For me, it's nothing but just boosting the car number up and boast about having more cars than any other racing game...

Different shapes, engines (and their placements), weight distribution, and so on account for different handlings.
A BMW Z3 doesn't drive like a Punto HGT.
Their "in-game" difference is 1) graphical quality, 2) Visual/cosmetic features (cockpit, wheels, some paints).

I am sorry bro It doesn't work like that for me, why would I want to play the old title when the new title is available? I buy the newest version to play the newest version. For what they serve to me and others who use them has been discussed already.

I'm simply saying that if you want to drive the 400R, you will still be able to in all of the games it's already in. If it isn't in GTS, then so be it, it's not like it's ever been guaranteed that content will transfer from one game to the next.

What other game genres or series do you play with the exact same core content for 3 games and 10+ years?

why would I want to play the old title when the new title is available

One could apply that exact same rationale to the content in the games. Why would you want to play with the old cars when you can play with the new cars?

I haven't played a Forza since 3 but from what I've seen, the carry over between games has varied wildly.
I have been playing since 1 and I love that series just as GT, overall the carry over is just the same as GT IMO which is not a problem. It's like with fujmi kadio I was so disappointed it wasn't in FM6 I don't want to go back to 4 and play it FM6 is far superior to 4 IMO. I want it in 6. I asked the community why wasn't it in 6 and was told it had to do with the version on FM4 was not compatible with 6. Once I was told that I said cool very understandable and hope maybe we get it in a DLC. Again for me to have to go back and play that track in FM4 is not worth it In my opinion.

Uh, the first two are solo games with no sequels. How is that the same? rFactor has one sequel but I have no idea how much carried over, not counting DLC.

PCars is carrying over their engine, content/assets produced from their past games.
iRacing has been retooling assets from before its release.
rFactor is the same, although this one is a real ship of Theseus.

And a side commentary, keeping the standards follows the same core logic of car/track modding appraisal.

This really doesn't make sense to me, and as I stated before with the FM6 DLC packs most of those cars do nothing for me at all? So they shouldn't be in the game because I don't like driving old historic race cars? That is narrow mined thinking and when you play either FM or GT you have to expect a different variety of cars. This is why those two games are attractive to me. I can drive a Ferrari on the Ring or a old school Mini. Comparing old cars to new cars, and then trying to argue the same reason with New games to old games don't compute to me at least

Of course I'm not denying it would be great to have every car and track carry over in every game, and all in the same quality as the new assets in the latest game. That would be ideal, but we don't live in an ideal world. All I'm saying is nobody ever said stuff would always carry over in games and whilst it's disappointing if certain assets don't carry over, the main interest IMO should always be the new content. New cars and tracks will always be more exciting in a new game than the news that old content will carry over, IMO.

I mean maybe it's just me, but I'd be perfectly happy with a hypothetical GT Sport that included 100% new cars and tracks with no carry over, as long as the number and quality was high enough. Obviously that would never happen and I would be lying if I said I'd not miss the old content but still, new game, new content, I'd be happy if the hypothetical new content was good.

I was obviously talking about car and track content carrying over, nobody is going to desire an engine or anything else in the core of the game carry over the same way they do with a car or track.

Also pCARS didn't carry anything from the Shift games, EA owned those assets. It's still not the same either, I said carry over the same game series, like GT. The carry over to pCARS 2 would be relevant.

When I said new and old I didn't mean the actual cars age, as in an old 60s car or a new modern 10s car. I meant the old cars already in the previous game vs the new cars that wasn't.

That's just it, your opinion. Since GT4, there has been a same core of cars that has been in the game that has carried over from game to game for two games running (and in the case of some cars, may be more). If anything, that shows the ability of PD to lock up a license for a car long term, something that Turn10 has failed to do on multiple occasions.

And one thing to note concerning tracks. Also since GT4, PD has implemented the need for more real world tracks. Now granted, they could have handled the organization and publicity of the tracks better (I mean it doesn't have to be a badge of shame you know), but they are working in locking up licenses with real world tracks.

I get that. I love the 400R too. For me, driving it in either PS3 game is "close enough". The improvements it may or may not get in the physics department in GT Sport don't outweigh the serious lack of updates it's had in the graphics department, nor the limitations imposed on it due to being a Standard.

I missed the SVX and Cosmo from GT1/GT2 on the PS2 games. But I'm glad PD didn't include those 300-polygon models in GT4 simply to bump the car count.

Of course, there's hope for the 400R, as it's an R33-based car, and there's already a Premium model of it. We can hope! :D

Try as I might, I can't find a single asset in FM6 that dates back to FM1.

Slip you are prob right as in you guys are a lot better with the terms, I was saying more as FM6 hasn't change dramatically as FM1 It's pretty much the same style game. As for the cars themselves yes they look as they are built up from starch, which would be new assest. All the messed car models seemed to be fix. 👍 This is what I am saying If PD could make all those cars Premium It would be amazing. This will not be the case as we all know, for me the next best thing is the standard option because I want to just drive all the cars I can In the end.

Sorry, but IMO that isn't very relevant to keeping standard cars when you have premium cars, which are the face of attention when it comes to graphics in games. Driveclub is a great example at that.

To play with the cars in the old games that were cut out from the latest game? For example, the Nissan Pulsar GTI-R is not in the newer games, and I miss it a lot. However, it remain in GT2 for me to always play around with cause I certainly don't want it in newer GTs if it means to port it from the PS1 era to PS4...

I'm perfectly fine with keeping standards and mostly look forward to all the cars running on the newly developed physics engine. There should be lots of online oppertunities too where finding 70's, 80', 90's etc. rooms where people can get quickly matched up or have the old Shuffle races with LOTS of the cool 350PP-450PP type cars from back in the day. Of course a Driver's Rating System would really help for this so people looking for like minded driving... people who show decent to excellent driving history shouldn't be matched up with youngsters, newbs or those finding destruction and ramming funny.

All the standards have value, I think it's up to PD to create an online community with constantly rotating events to actually make use of every single one of them.

Release. It needs to be released then I'll buy it. Every game to date has been quirky and flawed. But I still like what they do, Polyphony Digital.

I know it's kind of a pointless post but I just got a PS4, GT6 has run it's course, and I'm anxious to see what they do with the new hardware!

What would make GT7 a guaranteed purchase for me? These tracks, in HD:
Smokey Mountain North & South
Red Rock Valley Speedway (As the environment was similar to Smokey Mountain, perhaps 'Smokey Mountain Speedway'?)
Super Speedway (GT2 and GT3 versions, both included)
The Tahiti tracks (Dirt Route 3, Maze could be Dirt Route 1, and...)
Green Forest Roadway (... could be Dirt Route 2, with new scenery)
Special Stage Route 11 (Both versions)
Motor Sports Land
(Possibly) The Secret Track from GT2, good for drifting...
Pikes Peak
Rome Circuit (The good one, not the lifeless square we have now)
And the list goes on...

Cars:
I'm not really bothered by cars, but I would like:
More Rally Cars
More race cars
The Gran Turismo LM race cars from GT1, 2, 3
More Formula One cars
More custom Gran Turismo concepts, like the RedBull X concepts

Menu:
HD replica of GT3's

Soundtrack:
GT3's soundtrack

Intro:
Remake of the PAL GT1 and GT3 intros, maybe both available, played at random when starting the game...

Physics:
A blend of GT3's 'casual' physics and GT4's realistic physics.

Loading Speed:
Loading times are a problem, I'd like a GTA style loading screen, pre-loading all the scenery and menus, with scrolling cool images (EX: car on Grand Valley's bridge, neck-and-neck cars approaching the finish line,...)

Overall:
Gran Turismo 3 in HD with some more content...

- Doomotron

Well for me as a fan of the gt series and have been playing since gt1 I would really like to have some better dedicated servers for first because gt6 was horrible and it got even worse for anyone who was running the disk version of the game. Some old tracks from gt have to be in there. And definetly all premium cats. I would also like to see some paid DLC which would be cool. Also a better track editor and decals for our cars. Similar to the one from midnight Club and nfs

R.I.P. Jenkins the standard cat...
