For me, there are only a few points that I think PD really needs to address for the next GT.

- Improved engine sounds are a must
- Improved AI is a must
- Improved race design is a must
- Improved physics is a must

I'm not even gonna care about the Standard cars (compared to the above points anyway), or lack of car customization, or lack of new cars, or lack of new tracks. Perhaps PD has just set my expectations that low, but I'll be happy if PD can manage to make the changes I mentioned.

First of all, I have to get a PS4

Now, In an ideal world where the PS4 issue is solved, the things that would make myself buy GT7 once it is released would be:

Improved Car Sounds.
Improved Car Roster.
Bye bye Standards. (at least the ones that are not semi-premium).
Improved AI.
Livery editor.
A GT3-GT4-ish offline career mode.
Improved or Removal of B-Spec.
Racing Modificacions allowed to at least 50% of the cars.

Racing Modificacions allowed to at least 50% of the cars.

People expecting the Race Mods to expand should hopefully realize that's almost the same as adding a new car to the game (with the associated man-hours). Sure, it probably doesn't take six months to turn a stock Elise into the Race Car, but it's not as simple as just flinging a default wing and spoiler at it either. Each of the Race Mods from GT5 (and the Touring Car DLC) have pretty significant changes to the cars, inside and out.

I loved the racing mods on PS1, as they were a standout feature, but realistically, I don't expect to see them come back in a major way, at least not without sacrifices being made. Maybe PD would include less cars to focus on them. Maybe they'll be made separate models a la GT6 (which makes sense, really). But the days of being able to whip one up in a few days are long gone.

Of course, given a fair amount of custom body modifications, we could nearly get there. 👍

I'm sure anything that they do for GT7 will be great, but the only thing is that I don't want to have to buy a whole new system to play one game. Personally, I don't play a lot of games other than GT (occasionally NFS), so I'm not sure if I'll actually get to play the game at all. Would be nice if they added it to the PlayStation Store to buy there.

But, in terms of new features, I would love to see more cars from different makes, like Koenigsegg and Porsche. Also, I would be completely fine if they got rid of the GT Karts completely, and instead added some more interesting cars like SUVs, more exotics (Lamborghini, Ferrari etc.). Also, I always love having new tracks to race on so that would be cool to see as well.

There's no option for "nothing".
Nothing will make it guaranteed this time, until I see an actual quality product released.

If it's going to be another "oops" "here's 50 updates", I'll be knee-deep in the plethora of other racing games available today.

This probably goes against the whole gameplay ethos of PD, but what I'd like to see is a set-up where you spend less time collecting hundreds of cars and more time turning your street-spec cars into track-ready monsters. What I mean by that, is that you would be able to strip the car of its interior, add things like a roll cage and racing seats, tear off the original body panels and replace them with track-style panels, widen the stance of your car with monster offset wheels, etc. That would make for a damn cool game if you ask me!

If anyone knows of a game which actually exists which does all of the above and delivers it in the same standard as GT6 or Project Cars, let me know!

The game you want is NFS:Shift or Shift 2. Unfortunately, the physics are more on the level of something like Grid, and Shift 2 in particular is buggy as hell. If you get the PC versions, then a lot of the bugs have been either patched or fixed by community mods, and the physics can be altered as well. But it can be a lot of work to get things just the way you want.

To be honest, I wouldn't recommend buying either unless you get them very, very cheap, and even then steer away from the console versions.

It's a shame, because the structure and design of the games are really very, very good, they're just incredibly badly implemented.

I was with you until that. I'm hoping GT Sport has a significant road car > race car transformation but you can keep your 'stance' nonsense.

What I meant by "stance" is that you could start from a stock road car and produce something like this, if you wanted to:

Had a look at NFS:Shift 2, but I'd prefer something more realistic in the driving experience, like the GT series. If only there was a Project Need For Gran Turismo Driveclub...

To be fair, it's not uncommon for race cars to have wider than stock track. It provides a performance advantage. It's merely a side effect that people can use that to stance their cars.

I figure at this point pretty much every racing modification has been put on a street car and turned up to 11. People think "race cars are low, have wide track and lots of camber, I'll do that to my road car". But those modifications still have their place in racing, including wider track.

Yep, "stance" would need to be included if PD gave us the ability to widen the front and rear tracks. On some cars, like the S15 Silvia or the Kenmeri GT-R, it'd be a godsend. Sure, it could be used to create subjectively disappointing cars, but that's the case with the custom paint option already. :P

It was easy for Ghost Games to include the option in NFS 2015, since it has no affect on the physics. I imagine it'd require a little bit more work on PD's part to get it functioning appropriately in GT. I'd still like to see it, though.

Ok then apologies, I've only ever heard the reference to stance as those god awful, ridiculous neg camber monstrosities rather than just increasing the track to accommodate wider tyres and wide-arch aero kits.

Objecting to modifications to cars based on the premise that you might not like how some people choose to use it, is like objecting to making a racing game because you might not like how some people race.

No real world modification, no matter how trivial, aesthetic, useless, or useful should be off the table. Especially not for the reason that someone else might not like how other people choose to play their game that they paid for.

I've got a PS3, not really looking to get a PS4 as GT6 is great and not really interested in anything else as much. That said, if the following 2 cars become available in GT7, I will IMMEDIATELY buy a PS4 and GT7:

LAMBORGHINI DIABLO SE30 JOTA (or SE30 with option to apply Jota kit or further, Jota SE Corse)
LAMBORGHINI DIABLO GTR

As a bonus, in order of preference:

Diablo VT 6.0 SE, Diablo (1990 original version), Diablo SV, Diablo Roadster (1999 fixed headlights), Diablo GT-1 (Premium)

And more Lambos pls! There should be atleast 1 example of each historic Lamborghini model. I've put well over 30,000mi on my Diablo GTs and GT2s including 2 GTs past 5k and 10k needing oil and oil/engine refurb respectively which I can use at 450pp, and between the 90+ GTs I have I can race 450-650pp CH-SS because I have SO MANY Diablos I have a tune for EVERYTHING! Lamborghini and PD I have been so damn loyal pls reward us with these cars from the greatest manufacturer of all time, for when even the legendary Ferrari wasn't good enough...

Other requests: Diablo GT semi-race transmission upgrade becomes the manufacturer option of varied final drives or atleast the longer 210mph ratio (the car was sold with options of final drives for the gears depending on requirement, but in the game the stock car has the short ratio which redlines at 175mph max 182mph...) Also, GT was sold in 3 other colours pls include those.

Game mechanics: Pls no more PD intervals. Dampers, ARB, brakes need to be adjustable in real world values to allow much more fine tuning. All tuning should use real values and units like downforce. But ignore all the rest of this if I could just have the 2 cars in bold :D

What I mean is, the 2016 ACR, and more effort into the old tracks. and better upgrades for slower cars. sorry for the bad explaining first time around.
The fact that the ACR is faster than the high tech Porsche 918 in Laguna Seca is just mind boggling.

I will start with this... Gran Turismo is an important part of each of our lives, being car enthusiasts and all. Despite it's flaws I'm thinking we all can agree with this right?

I know I can, and with that in mind I am sold simply because there is another one on it's way, as simple-minded as it may seem. The reason why is because Polyphony Digital contributed to my life in a grand way, by providing me with a boatload of knowledge and wisdom about cars as well as a fun and memorable experience for many years.

I know their games aren't perfect, and far from it but they are an incredible and unique experience. Their games provide a kind of satisfaction that I just can't seem to find in other racing games, even if they are ahead of Gran Turismo.

In order to stay on the specifics of the thread, I voted for improved core game-play, and all features have to return only because that would have me pre-order or jump on it as soon as it is released, whereas I wouldn't be fiendish if it ends up being GT6.5 but would instead get it "eventually". Lol

My thoughts:

GT6 is a good game. Not a great game, but a good game. A 7/10. 7.5/10, maybe. However, I don't think it's too far from being a great game. Imagine a GT6 with all cars using the new AES audio, better AI, grid starts, better damage, the weird physics quirks fixed (camber, ride height, overly grippy tyres), and no standards (in order to boost consistency), and I think that would be a great game. It's just a shame the bits that GT6 gets wrong are the most important bits - the actual racing, for one, and an integral part of the driving experience, the sound. The bits around that, though, are pretty good. The visuals are impressive, the car list is good (the Premiums are varied and balanced well in terms of car type and nation, the Standards much less so), the track list is excellent, the special events are good fun, the physics, although not perfect, and starting to be superseded by newer, more specialised rivals like Assetto Corsa, are good too.

For GT Sport, GT's impressive visuals are already a given, to be honest. The physics are likely to be up there, too, and I expect a good variety of detailed cars, presumably excluding Standards this time around as they seem to be going for a more tightly focussed game. Really, then, the three things I would like to see fixed, are:

1. AI. This should be the number one priority.
2. Better sounds. AES is a good start for GT6's downloadable cars; if it can be applied to everything at that standard I will be happy.
3. Damage. Visual and mechanical. Needs to be a lot better.

Do all that, Polyphony, and I will be all over GT Sport. Getting those key bits nailed would be enough for me to overlook all the weird, smaller flaws GT has. Simple, no?
