Is this feature in those PC racing sims not being a smart guy i just wanna know. I can understand people saying you don't have to use it, but many people will, and imo it kills the grinding part of learning your car and the course. When playing a sim type racing game i think they should keep the aspect of when you mess up a turn, you have to put it behind you conquer the rest of the track, and when that turns comes back up destroy it with vengeance. If they have rewind In GT It wont bother me because I won't use it, but many people will. IMO they will miss out on that real track experience when it comes to mastering a track. 👍
Well in real "simulators" usually there is some kind of rewind feature (like commercial flight sim) for the exact purpose of learning by practicing only the parts that give you trouble.
I am not aware of any PC driving sims such as we are used to (ie GTR, LFS etc) that have rewind.
Having used rewind in a lot of games I think fear and dislike of it is like fear and dislike of gay people... it's often based on false assumptions and ignorance.
See the thing is people think everyone should play like them and enjoy like them and don't look at it form another persons point of view. For instance a lot of people do not find grinding or having to redo the whole thing after a small mess up enjoyable. For them rewind can often be what it takes to make the game enjoyable and in the process get better because they are actually playing.
As for getting perfect times in time trials, I would be very surprised if rewind ever was put in a game without some kind of marker to show that it was used so a perfect time trial with rewind marker isn't much to fear.
And as for making people better, ironically I have found it actually does make people better... because the people I find that use rewind a lot are ones who would just stop trying after going off track thus leaving them to forever be a wrecking ball of a driver. However the aiblity to redo and practice a small section without being penalized a whole race often means they do and I have seen plenty of people get better in a game with rewind who simply refused to try anymore on a game without.
Therew as a whole rewind thread where I got into this a lot so I will just leave this one here, but I just put out there, consider that the things you may think will happen with rewind or think will necessariy be bad maybe just not throught through very well or thought through with a skewed perspective.
